  • When you cut the bumper, what did you cut it with?

  • @MikeSWilley All I did was use the template from pypes exhaust . com (be sure you print it full size) then I drilled a series of holes along the cut line, took a box cutter and "connected the dots". The bumper is easy to cut. Then I took a wine bottle, wrapped sand paper around it, and used that to smooth out the cut line. Very easy to do, and there isn't anything behind that spot that you can harm.

  • @jcarolan75 Thanks! I tried using a reciprocating saw and that was no good.

  • i have a stock v6.. so all i do is to put a GT500 take off dual ecxhaust to make my car's sound like this??

  • @XxxFrX8xxX Just a set of GT500 take off mufflers or the stock GT mufflers, and an X pipe cross over to replace the Y pipe is all.

  • can you put gt500 takeoffs on the v6, if so hows the drone if you know?

  • @PFAZ0218 Yes you can - that is what I have on my car. And there isn't any drone. But for the model years through 2009 the GT500 used the same mufflers as the GT with an automatic. So don't pay too much just because they came off a GT500 if you are looking at some from pre 2010. In 2010 Ford used a different muffler for the GT500 (at least the tips, I haven't checked the part number) but they are the same size and mount the same

  • @jcarolan75 thanks man really helpful! :) btw BADASS MUSTANG! Lots of ignorant people dont realize why some people get v6 instead of the GT, theyre many reasons, for example me: i commute to college 45 min mon-sat. i cant afford gas for the GT, plus cruising in your V6 gets you more chicks:))

  • @PFAZ0218 Thanks, I appreciate it. It's always fun at the drag strip to surprise someone with a V8 when the V6 convertible runs a mid 12 pass. I also have a 45 minute commute to work each day - even with the Xcharger Xtreme supercharger system I still get good gas mileage, but have the power on tap whenever I want it.

  • At the time of this video I had the V6 bumper, cut for the duals. I replaced it with a GT take off only because I was rear ended by a guy texting while driving in the construction zone on the highway. It was cheaper to get a take off and replace it myself. I preferred the cut V6 bumper actually.

  • @jcarolan75 did u get a new rear bumper for dual exhaust or did u cut it

  • @coolguitaristrd Actually I had both. I cut the V6 bumper first and really liked the look of it better. But when I was rear ended by a pick up in the construction zone on the highway, it was cheaper to just pick up a take off GT bumper and replace it instead of another V6, paint it, and cut it.

  • @jcarolan75 did u get a new rear bumper for dual or just

  • @jcarolan75 Thanks!

  • What were the mods on this v6 at this time? I don't here a supercharger so I assume this was before the xcharger mod.

  • @sabatini210 At that time I had a CAI with a custom tune, plus a Zex nitrous kit on it for the track; exhaust was (and still is) the FRPP X pipe to the GT500 mufflers. The Xcharger wasn't done until after I put the GT rear bumper on it (thanks to someone texting while driving in the construction zone on I-94).

  • Great sound! This may be really off the subject of the video, but I noticed you had a highlight white from the door panel, what did you use for that? I would like to add a little more spice to my doors like that!

  • @lpmoora

The white door welt/piping just slides into place. I got mine from mrmikes.com

  • @jcarolan75 Ok I see, thank you for the link. Do you think 15 feet would be enough for the 2 doors?

  • @lpmoora That should be plenty - I don't recall how much I had but I'm sure it wasn't more than that.

  • I did the same thing as this chap as far as exhaust goes.

  • so this is a v6 and not a gt? if it is would this be done in a 2008 v6?

  • @MrCarlos503 this is a V6, and yes you can do the same thing with a 2008. Just get the driver side midpipe and either an H or X (I have the X) to replace the Y pipe on the V6. A set of GT take off mufflers is the cheapest to get and I think it has great sound with no in cabin drone.

  • Sounds sick, i got same set up, but i got dual racing stripes without the pen striping.

  • did you get the stripes put on custom?

  • @wonderbreadkw

The original stripe treatment is a Baltimore Street Mods vinyl kit. Since this video I had to replace the rear bumper (guy was too busy texting in the construction zone to notice traffic stopped) and I had the stripe painted on the bumpers front and rear so that the license plate area is filled in. I have video with the new bumper here also.

  • @jcarolan75 those are the exact stripes i want to switch to but in black

  • Not bad! How's the drone inside with these? Nice to see some other stangs like mine with the best looking stripe style :D Check out my Windviel blue v6, re-did my exhaust too.

  • @ofivestang

No drone at all - they are the stock mufflers so a little quiet. I had Flowmasters American Thunder on, great sound but massive drone on the highway with that set up.

  • Thanks for helping me decide what to do to my v6...I got the X, tail pipes and Mufflers all for under 250 shipped ...I MIGHT go with the GTB mufflers eventually ...but we'll see so far I like this sound...next up I'm calling up Super-six Motors and look into their stage 2+ Heads, and ARP studs.

The interesting thing Id like to compare is the difference between your automatic tone wise compared to the Manual in mine...

  • coulda had a v8

  • @slayer961000

And if you have a Mustang GT you could have had a GT500, and if you have a GT500 you could have had a Supersnake. The V6 puts out more power than the older GT did. And the extra $5,000 to get a V8 that is about 0.5 seconds quicker in the 0-60 and just under a second quicker in the 1/4 mile - not a big difference.

  • hey whats the dementions of the stripe on the car thinking about puting it on my V6 i think it is 1-1-16-1-1 right

  • @jenright115

The stripe is 1-1-18-1-1. I've modified it some since this video and it now is painted so the license plate is filled in - I have another video whwere you can see the new bumper and paint.

  • that sounds amazing for a v6

  • thats the best sounding v6 man, thats good stuff

  • Dude sweet car, I just rented a white 2009 mustang, fast as HELL for a V6, I was really surprised could almost pass for a V8

  • @Carfreak1177 LOL...uh no. I had a V6 before my GT. It was NOT fast and could NEVER almost pass for a V8. Not even freaking close.

  • @Carfreak1177 HAH.. Good Joke pal lolol

  • That sounds so good. Would never know its a V6

  • Thanks

  • i wanna convert my v6 to a dual exhaust and i was wonderin how much did yours cost...ya know the gt bumper, the h pipes, and catback system?...so i know what im lookin at spending..thanks

  • I have a custom x pipe, custom pipes and just cut a hole on the other side of the bumper with a jig saw, 4 inch tips and no mufflers, $325 out the door ($100 for parts, 225 labor)

The cats are so restrictive on these that you don;t even need mufflers, it's about the same volume as cherry bombs on a GT, just a cheap solution for loud dual exhaust

  • Every 4.0 owner I know who removed the cats regretted it. The cats seem to provide the correct resonance to keep the tone deep. I got my system off eBay for only $85, cut the V6 bumper for the driver side muffler which is very easy to do. I have the GT bumper now but only because I was rear ended - I actually thought the cut V6 bumper looked better.

  • @evoutionlms I went with pypes brand. It's fairly inexpensive compared to other brands and still sounds good. I used their H dual exhause and 2 GT muffler takeoffs

  • I'm not sure what whining sound you are referring to. I think it may be the sound of the intake - it always had a slight whistle.

Now the whistel has been replaced by a whine though - I put an XCharger supercharger on the car last month.

  • why do the 4.0s make that wining sound?? just wondering

  • Hey man i need some help here: If i buy a GT500 catback takeoff exaust, how would I go about installing this to my 2007 V6 Mustang? Will it work? Thanks!

  • You only need to cut out the Y pipe and put either an H or X pipe in its place. You can't use the cats off the GT500 so there is a little cutting involved is all. You will need a reducer clamp to between the 2.25" down pipe and the 2.5" H or X and midpipes

Don't overpay for the GT500 exhaust though. Up until 2009 all the GT500 used is the stock GT mufflers. The only difference between a GT and GT500 system is that one came off the GT500.

  • ohh my, that has t be one of the nicest paint jobs on a pony i ever seen. love the one big stripe, everyone usually goes for 2

sounds great too! im getting a v6 to come and go from college on my own, no v8 for me. insurance insurance insurance =/

  • some insurance companys are gay and charge just as much as if you did have the v8

  • I hear you man. Insurance sucks dick lol

  • but a gt can cost almost up to twice as much as a v6.

  • so true

  • oh boy, insurance even for the v6 is crazy, like they wanted me to pay roughly 2k so we put it under my mothers name and its still around 1k ugh, but its kinda worth it hehe

  • and yes it would be cool to race you at the strip. but very unfair. not tryin to be dickish or anything but it would.

  • hay seriously guys im done on all the dum shit. i guess im just miis informed on the whole mustang thing. i just never got into them. but im done with the shit talkin ya know its old. so i apologize. i just grew up around camaros and thats what i like. but mustang are fellow muscle cars. so like i said i apollogize. but i do have a video up. no time slip on internet yet. i guess all i have to say is....... FUCK HONDA!!! lol.

  • Amen man, muscle cars FTW!

  • Man do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

  • Chill Out "Mat The King Dong"

I have a V6 S197 that will make you and your '89 Camaro RSI go home with your tail between your legs.....

I'm a Chevy guy, but the S197 is the hottest and most popular 'Muscle Car' of today.

Any time you want to run that RSI, just get on the MustangCollective and make it known.

We are 1,000+ strong and we'll take you on!

  • Wow, talk about e-stalker.. someone has no life.

I read through a few of his stupid comments, and he obviously doesn't know jack.

  • The GT take off muffler is a good sound with no drone. The GTA or GTB from Ford Racing is a little deeper sound with no drone. Neither is super loud though. The Flowmaster American Thunder is louder with a nice rumble to it but the drone was too much for me.

  • hey sorry i know you have said it a thousand times but i have a mustang v6 and want to make it into duals and your system sounds really good.

what all did you do to it and were their any installation issues like custom bending or anything like that for the fitting??

what exact parts did you have to buy? thanks

  • I bought a GT500 system that included both mid pipes and mufflers. I had to cut the Y pipe out, weld in the Ford Racing X pipe in its place after the cats. The mid pipes from Ford just go right in. Two exhaust hangers from Pypes Exhaust for the driver side was the only other thing to buy (the holes are already drilled on the driver side).

If you get the Ford parts there isn't any custom bending of the pipes. Cutting out the Y pipe and putting the X in its place is the most difficult part

  • Nice engine !!! I have a question i have a v6 as well i want something to make it really loud and good sounding can someone help ? thanks

  • that matt guy needs to get the cactus out of his ass...

i love how he compares a v8 to a v6... and proves your point for you!! he says " my moms z28 runs 12.998 stock" blah blah its like he is comparing a v8 to a v8 but we're really talking about a v6 here hahaha he just proves that so many people out there are dumbasses

------------- anyways... nice damn car dude keep up the good work!

  • nothing sounds meaner then a mustang!

  • I thought that paint job looked familiar, then i saw the license plate and i was like dang thats the guy from mustangforums

  • I am on there - the rear bumper looks a little different now. After I was rear ended I replaced it with a GT take off and had the stripe painted so that the license plate frame is filled in now. And had the front painted as well.

  • I know. You told me in that thread. Thanks again for all the help. I can't wait till I can get it.

  • sounds good. wherd you get the GT500 take off?

  • thanks tmac. I bought the system from the cats back off Ebay for $85. The GT500 though uses the stock GT mufflers (I compared the part numbers after I bought it, I was hoping to find it used the same as the ShelbyGT with the GTA, but it used the same as the stock GT)

  • Nice call genius.

  • Oh it wasn't...Damn I thought it was when I read the V6 in the title..you idiot..

  • Why cant guys post videos of their cars on youtube without people like mattwhogetsfuckedintheass, coming on and starting shit. If you hate ford so much than why are you watching videos of them?

    Great sounding mustang jcarolan75!

  • exactly you have nothing else to prove because you have no evidence to support or rebut anything we've said. You just keep saying how great Chevy is with no regard to everyone else's comments. What about what noremorse69 said? Ford was the only American car company that did NOT need the bailout.

  • fuck off u goddamn ricer...i love how aallll these assholes dis V6's or Fords or something for NO reason...have u ever owned a mustang? DOUBT IT..so shut the fuck up, go buy a can of coffee and put it on your POS 1980 honda.

    peace out bitch

  • IF Ford sucks so bad, why are they the only automotive company that didn't need the government bailout ? Chevy hasn't made anything worth driving since 1970.

Mid 9's my ass. Nice growl, no crackle, sounds good.

  • You should really post that time and timeslip up on dragtimes . com because it's the fastest time for that year z28. The fastest time on there is 13.174 and that was with perfect racing conditions. The 2005 mustang GT does 13.272 bone stock. both are fast cars, there's no reason to flame one or the other.

I never understand why people can't just accept a fast car for what it is...

  • are you done? u obviously can't comprehend why it is people prefer Stangs over Camaro's. I'm also willing to bet you know absolutely nothing about the history of that car, nor do you really care. it's more than about just speed for a true car enthusiast dumbass. so take your tiny dick having ass to some ricer page where people might actually take you seriously. you're a joke over here.

  • when he said 9 sec he meant in the 1/8 mile LOL any idiot get get a v8 and slap on power. it takes a creative person to make a 6 run hard!

not to mention i still get 24 mpg hwy with my supercharged 6

  • Yeah matt, this guy apparently "thinks he's the greatest" and is talking a TON of crap about how amazing his car is bashing everyone else... oh wait, he is just simply posting his new exhaust setup. Ever heard the term sleeper? Not many people expect to see a v6 mustang run mid 13's at the track.

  • Is it true that it isnt possible to get the same sound from a V6 as you would get from a V8 no matter what pipes you use.

  • You can get better sound than stock, but you can't get the V8 rumble on a V6. There are lots of options out there though to choose from to get the sound you want.

  • matt, get a mustang before you talk

  • BOOOOOOOOO quit watching mustang v6 videos and go drive your chevy.

  • What do you run?

  • nice dude. howd u get the Gt500 mufs?

  • I bought the system from the mid pipes back off Ebay. However, the GT500 actually uses the same mufflers as you find on the GT with an automatic (I checked the part numbers out to be sure). This is a Ford Racing X pipe, stock Ford 2.5" mid pipes, and essentially GT mufflers.

  • Nice exhaust and car. I like the stripe alot.

  • thanks, I appreciate the comment

  • shitty stripe tho. why waste the money on performance for a v6? just worry about its appearance not performance! looks hot tho besides the stripe. (owner of a v6 06 stang)

  • 400rwhp at 12psi... I wouldn't call that a waste of money. Thats actually one of the best sleepers I can think of as seeing the v6 mustangs get no respect lol

  • Wow! How did you get it up to 400hp? Now im interested. Spill the beans!!

  • Look around on the internet. People are doing some crazy things with these 4.0 mustangs. From what I understand, you have to shim the valve springs for anything over 9psi and upgrade your fuel system and all the other goodies for a turbo or supercharger. Ive heard 250rwhp at 5psi, 300rwhp at 9psi, and 400rwhp at 12psi. It maybe 15psi cuz 100hp jump from a 3 lb boost is pretty steep so its probly around 15psi to get near 400rwhp. Anyways, some pretty decent hp from a v6 mustang.

  • I heard you have to redo the suspension as well

  • LOL @ "stock roush". Anyways, nice car man, I'm about to have a Roush kit put on mine with their off-road exhaust, kinda have to with that back end lol. You've got a nice sound goin there, keep it up.

  • Nice man If I had thing I would most definitely smoke out those tail lights

  • Thanks - that would look good but with the amount of highway driving I do it wouldn't be the best. The side markers are tinted dark and the front turn signal are blacked out

  • you have two mustangs ?

  • No, just one now. I used to have a Flowmaster American Thunder on this car and replaced it with this dual exhaust. The Flowmaster AT had great sound, but it droned horribly on the highway.

  • ew wow a roush lol

you basicly you mean a gt with a factory trim package and a intake and exhaust lol

oh yea and a few thousand dollars more on sticker price

have fun gettin roasted by lightly modded GTs that have alot less money into their car

  • So tell us all what is on your "stock Roush" and how about a video?

By "stock Roush" I take it you mean at the most a Stage 1 appearance package? Not jealous of your Roush at all by the way. But tell you what, meet me at the track and we'll see how your "stock roush" compares in the quarter mile.

  • i cant believe how jealous guys get about people having better cars than them. And it's all mine.haha

  • yo i dont care whut they say about that cause i got 2007 v6 mustang with a shelby exhaust and guess i love it so it sounds good.... good job

  • wtf dude. what was that just a waste of time on ur part. my stock roush is better than that. no offensese man.

  • Okay, why don't you post a video of your "stock roush"

  • I know right, how can you have a stock roush, this guy is saying he just has roush bages on his car right? haha! what a loser he is

  • why don't go upstairs and ask you mom to get him a "stock roush" since you feel so smug about it.

  • where'd you buy the gt500 mufflers? i'm interested in purchasing these as well...

  • I bought it off eBay. However, the GT500 actually just uses the GT mufflers - I was hoping that they were the same as on the Shelby GT and GT-H which is the FRPP-GTA muffler.

  • Not bad. I love mustangs. But i feel like the V6 wouldn't be for me i love the GT but 25K? Am only 17. I don't know what i should do.

  • lol you should either 1.) buy a used gt for much cheaper 2.) get a job

  • if your 17 buy a v6, save a v8 for when your older,

Theres no way in HELL you would be able to afford insurance on a GT with limited to no credit history and being under 21

  • i know that's what am going to have to do i could maybe wait for the 5.0 stangs that are coming out. But like i am not sitting here i got a job and am about to get another one i really really want a stang. idc if i have to work 2 jobs i think a stang is worth it don't you?

  • Actually Insurance is the same on a V6 or a V8. To the Insurance companies it is considered a sports car, whether its a V6 or V8.

If I were you I would get a GT right away lol. Actually I am personally, going to go pick up an 09 here soon. Glass Roof FTW.

  • it's worth it to work 2 jobs for a stang now, but every car get old after a while. you're young live your life, get a cheaper car.

  • if you want a 2007 stang you don't need two jobs but you need a job that pays good and overtime. that's the way i do it. Be careful what you want to do cuz if you buy a stang you cannot quit ur job no matter how much you hate it.

  • i bought my V6 when i was 18. now i'm 21 and i can feel like i can handle 300 HP. you don't realize it, but 300HP is a lot of power if you're not used to it. i went from a 97 altima with 150HP to my V6 with 210HP now i'm sellng mine to get the big boy number of 300. you'd be surpised about how 210 HP and 240 ft-lbs of torque feel.

  • I did that. I'm still in college with my 06' V6 mustang. I really don't regret it. Cause when the money starts rolling..I'm gonna be skipping the GT and getting a Roush Shelby equivalent as my weekend car.

A lot of people rip on you for having a V6, but I have never been ripped on for having a V6 by another mustang owner. It's usually people who drive 86' VW diesels.

  • not unless daddy and mommy pay for insurance.

  • hey did that void you warentee?? i have a 08 and want dual exaust but cant void it!!

  • I haven't had to take it in for much, but it has never been an issue. When I took it in for the air bag recall the service manager told the mechanic ahead of time "this car isn't exactly stock so don't change reflash anything but the air bag" - so they know it has some some mods and still honor my warranty. I've never heard of an exhaust voiding a warranty - of course they won't warranty your modification.

  • if you get an offroad x pype and/or modify your cats then it could void it, or so i was told.

  • hey man that sounds nice. i just got a v6 pony package and i was wondering other parts you needed to buy besides the take offs.

  • A great upgrade is to get a cold air intake and tune. I have a C&L intake and SCTXcal2 tuner with a tune by Lidio at Alternative Auto in Chesterfield, Michigan

  • For the dual exhaust you will need to get either an H or X pipe to replace your Y pipe, the driver side mid pipe, and the hangers for the driver side muffler. You can get the hanger from Pypes or V6MustangStuff

  • Nice looking car! I've got an 05 V6 with GT takeoffs. Sounds good!

  • I actually do own a GT, 2008 GT C/S loaded.

Wasm't putting you down just stating, doesn't sound the same on a V6 with dual. My friend did it with his 05 before he got a real GT and he said major difference as I said too.

    But whatever floats ur boat!

  • Gee thanks, I never thought of that. Tested both the GT and V6, liked the Pony package better. Usually the people who make comments like this don't own either by the way

  • PS I am also putting Borla Stingers on it!

  • next time , take off the plate . . . lol

  • Nice Sound! I'm thinking about picking up the Ford Racing Dual exhaust system.

  • I'm interested in hearing it when you get it done. The mufflers in that set up are the GTA style and are supposed to be a little deeper tone.

  • Found out the Ford Racing Dual exhaust for the V6 is the same one the GT500 has... May get it, I'm also thinking about the Bassani dual exhaust which deeper than this one. Can't decide.

  • Actually the FRPP kit for the V6 has a better & deeper sounding muffler. The GT500 uses the stock GT mufflers for an automatic. The FRPP kit uses the GTA muffler that is on the Shelby GT (not the Shelby GT500).

  • I think that sounds good, good job

  • where did you get a gt500 take off?

  • Went to Ebay and found the full system from the cats back. Ended up picking it up for only $75 plus shipping. I have the stock V6 downpipes and cats welded to a Ford racing X pipe and then to the dual mid pipes and the GT500 mufflers - which are the stock GT mufflers actually going by the part number stamped on them.

  • painted mufflers bad... sounds alright
