I think your interpretation is too close to a double interpretation. I don't think there is anything in the text to suggest that Babylon, Persia, Greece, and (and whatever the great beast is) is a type. Melchizedek is a type, David is a type, but nowhere else in scripture is there a prophecy of a type instead of the actual prophecy, but I'm an A-millennialist and think that the church right now is in a time of tension.

However, he also pointed out that, in addition to the well-known characterization of Russia as the 'Great Bear', the name of Russia's current president, Medvedev, means 'bear' (mead = honey, veda = to know, therefore Medvedev = 'one who knows honey'). Sounds less threatening than the flesh-devouring bear, but then, it *would* sound that way, wouldn't it.
That is a wonderful point brother! Prophecy shows the mercy and patience of God over and over. It is not an "either"/"or" study though. Amos 3 says "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Prophecy is to teach us both of events and the character of God. My heart sings to study Scripture each day (not just prophecy)and let the Spirit teach me each little nugget of truth from every word in the Bible. This is our joy& privilage Hallelujah!:)
Prophecy serves multiplepurposes. Telling of the mind of God & enabling us 2 heed the warnings of God. Saying we shouldn't use them to look at somethings in the future is is like saying that we shouldn't warn our own children of the future. Is God not a better parent than we are? When Christ spoke of the signs of the end, he was warning us so that we would not fall pray to the dangers and trickery. Prophecy tells the heart of God, so we have to just listen to the Spirit & learn what it teaches.
You may be on to something, or you may not. I think by trying to read future events out of Biblical prophecy you may be missing the point of the prophecy. The prophecies were not given necessarily to inform us about future events (although they do) instead they are given to teach us about the mercy and longsuffering of God. So instead of looking for America in prophecy instead look at how despite the wickedness of man God holds off his judgment time and time again. Blessings to you.

Also remember Daniel said the seeds (whites and ethnics) would mingle but still not hold together and this is intermarrying.
