Aussie Rob, 2 feet in 30 seconds is SLOW by Oman's standards. They get flash floods literally roaring down the wadi channels from the mountains. The rocks are largely impermeable. which means rainwater does not sink in, it just pools and runs on the surface, sometimes for miles and miles.
it seems u have no clue about Oman's wadis during the rain season water appears in no time and it flood the whole channel in few seconds. the thing about this video that no one knows what happened in real with this person, is he acting hero & strong and tries to cross the wadi by his own risk, or maybe he got stuck when the wadi flood trapped him. we just pray that he didnt die. calm down guys :P
why then, does he keep driving INTO the flood...??? This was no accident... even if you get a few meters out, you have time to reverse out... not keep going...

Its is sad that Oman was so badly hit by a Cyclone Gonu that caused many deaths; just yesterday (June 6, 2007)
