  • I did not know Col. Howard, but know someone that I greatly respect who served under him in Vietnam. My friend said he was the finest soldier he ever knew, he said Col Howard was very humble. Given the SF motto "the quiet professionals" he was true to his service. I have done research about Col. Howard since his death and I am glad to know about one of the bravest and most honored men in our history. His name deserves the same tribute as Audie Murphy, another great American.

  • I had the privelege to be trained by Col. Howard while attending the Special Forces qualification course at camp Mackall where he was the commander. He was the toughest man I ever knew. I often think of the things he taught me about being a soldier and how to live my life with honor. I will never forget him nor will the countless others who's lives he saved. God Bless you Colonel!!! Captain Brian Meade 5th Special Forces Group.

  • Col. Howard was a fine soldier, Christian, and a magnificent man. In the USA, we need more men like him.

  • I had the honor and privilege of meeting Col. Howard at the 2009 Medal of Honor Convention here in Chicago. Hands down one of the greatest experiences in my life. He is a true hero, and a model American. I feel truly privileged to of met this great man.
