  • She is a beautiful woman unlike any other. Strong, courageous with a strong will, even though her frame was delicate, she proved her strength in many ways.

  • now shes wormfood

  • The most beautiful woman who ever lived. . . if I was Christopher Reeve in Somewhere in Time, Lillian would be my love!!!

  • Beautifully done. Perfect choice of music.

  • A rare and beautiful tribute to the luminous, eternal Miss Gish...thank you!

  • It's said that John Gilbert was so infactuated with Gish that in his loves scenes with her in "La Boheme" he kept messing up the scene so he could continue to kiss her.

  • beautiful and touching. like its subject.

  • Unmatched even today

  • Dave here. (Pachalbel) Hate to be a wet blanket concerning a person who apparently was much loved, but some of her expressions, which may have been meant to be "come hither looks" struck me as saying, "Don't get any smart ideas, Buster," or "You bore me." That's the way I see it.

  • it is such an honor to be related to such a talented and beautiful woman. Im so grateful to have pictures and video to watch of her... <3

  • She was so talented and beautiful, I named my daughter after her. ^_^

  • Her beauty has no equal.

  • Dios, que bella mujer, un verdadero angel.

  • What a beautiful tribute.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Lillian is my great grandmother. It sucks I never got to meet her.

  • rip lillian we love you

  • Oh god, i MUST change my name *sobs* i cannot risk tarnishing hers~

  • She was extraordinary, and your montage was simply breathtaking.Such a wonderful tribute to my favorite actress!Thank you for posting this!

  • She was a amazing actres and so beautiful!

Whats the name of the music?

  • A real legend. I mention Gish in The Celebrity Song.

  • Very beautiful images. Lillian Gish was not just beautiful but her face also had a lot of depth. Her looks were so innocent yet so intensive.

  • Great job! I enjoyed this.

    -------Ellen

  • she iz or sadly wuz so beautiful

    R♥I♥P

    LILLIAN GISH

  • I first saw her on tv in a silent movie called 'The Wind'. She and her performance were stunning.

  • Es una pena que en el cine sonoro su carrera fuese tan irregular

  • The most Beautiful woman ever

  • It's torture that she is probably one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen.

  • incredible actress and a beautiful person, rest in peace Lillian

  • Yes, regrettably, they don't make them (movie actresses) like they used to. Gish was by far the best of them: classically beautiful but could also act. Yeah ba!

  • Wonderful tribute to a magnificent woman.

  • Gish's autobiography, "The Movies, Mr. Griffith, and Me", is one of the outstanding first person accounts of the very early days of Hollywood. It's also a great testiment to both her indomitable spirit and her modesty, even if that sounds like a contradiction.

  • I just watched "Night of the Hunter". Wow , she was Grand !

  • gosh

she managed to have a lot of very different looks,

or were some of these pictures of her in character for films?

  • Thank you for posting this video! As I started my 'sketching' career, I drew Lillian many times because of her sweet face and flowing hair. AWESOME!!

  • I told that Mickey Rooney had a longer career 80 years but Gish was 94 when she made her last movie.

  • i don´t know but i think she is still holding the record of the longest career in motion picture history. 1912 to 1987 that´s 75 years

  • Happy B'day. Born October 14, 1893. Beautiful & very talented artist. The Scarlet Letter is my favorite picture by Miss Gish.

  • how could she have granddaugther if she never married 6033shasta. and im sorry if im wrong, cuase i checked it up in wikipedia, so no offense

  • I saw her 1926 movie "La Boheme" last night and was amazed by the beauty & spirit of Lillian Gish. Her acting was absolutely thrilling and she portrayed more life and spirit than any female actor that I have ever seen. It's the first time that I have seen Lillian Gish and I am so grateful that she blessed this world with her presence. I've always been stunned by the beauty of women in the old movies but Lillian takes the cake for being the most beautiful actress of all time. Thank You Lillian

  • Love the video!

which song is that? i love it!

  • This is from John Pachabel - Canon in D Major

  • I met Lillian through her granddaughter. Lillian was very elegant lady and one of a kind.

  • To me, there are no more words, speeches that can describe this lady's beauty. One of the greatest white ladies on earth of all time. i never and ever get tired of looking at her and listening to this music.

  • Beautifully done. I absolutely love the pictures and the music fit just perfect (love the music). She is one of my favorite silent film stars (the others are her sister Dorothy, Mary Pickford and Lon Chaney Sr.).

  • SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL

  • She was absolutely lovely and talented. One of the greatest actresses of all time.

  • its the perfect song.really:)

  • She was beautiful and talented :)

  • a perfect female profile

  • i love this wonderful tribute.i am a huge fan of silent picture acors/actresses.

  • Wow, she is so beautiful, like a china doll

  • A true beauty, Lillian really has something in her natural beauty that no any girl today can surpass. I will love this actress forever. Although she passed away, she always takes a very important part in my heart

  • whats the song called?

  • the song is Pachelbel's "Canon in D Major"

  • I never knew Lilian Gish was so beautiful.

  • Lillian Gish stars in one of the best movies on film, The Night of the Hunter, directed by Charles Laughton. As strong a charactor Robert Mitchum was in the movie, Lillian Gish steals the show. I have watched that movie at least 100 times and never get tired of her performance!

  • I agree totally with u Jackoshaw! Brilliant film, brilliant directing, and great performances all round

  • OMG, I agree. Night of the Hunter is absolutely one of the best movies ever made. Mitchum was amazing in this role...scared me to death! Lillian...what can I say...she was always magnificient.

  • Lillian Gish died at the age of 100. What a life!

  • @jackoshaw: Sadly she didn't quite make it to 100 exactly! :-( There were 7.5 months missing.... :-( But still great!!! :)

  • @jackoshaw Not quite she just missed by A few months to turn 100. I have her autobiography book.

  • @jackoshaw Actually she died about 8 months before she would turn 100.. but she was acting well into her late 90's! You're quite right.. what an amazing woman! :)

  • One of my favourite actresses of all time. So gorgeous, so graceful.. A real woman. Amazingly beautiful.

  • Angelic! Maybe she didnt want to be married or maybe she wasnt meant to be married. Perhaps she was happy and secure with herself just that way. Not every one has to be married, no matter how old you are. Plus, it saved on another Hollywood divorce.

  • Excellent choice of music Sakurasoh, I love this piece, now i will always see Lillian everytime i hear it !

    Thank you!!!!

  • "Attractive", as a description of someone, can have so many meanings, this woman , for me, encompasses every meaning,. To me she is beautiful ! How a real Lady should be.

    Sleep well Lillian.

  • WOW!! Never seen these pics of this actress,

incredible!!stunning!!! how come she never married??

  • Beautiful

  • She looks like an angel

  • I had the privilege of knowing Miss Gish and she was as dear and beautiful a person as they come.

    Thnkns for this sweet tribute

  • The Gish sisters "were" early Hollywood. They are to be remembered for making films what they grew into today. - Reality is back!

  • HarveyCartwright was right. She is a racist and anti-semite as Midas Von Tottenkopff said. well what was the name of her sister?

  • Dorothy

  • Very pretty, but she doesn't smile enough in the photos. A smile would add so much...

  • she was gorgeus

  • She had so many driffent faces... maybe she was a Shapeshifter?

    No, just kidding.

But she was incredible beautifull, maybe the most beautiful woman on the earth?

  • She was realy beautiful...

Shit, I have never seen any of her movies...

  • Great actress, I hope she lives on forever in Heaven...

And by the way, I'm not joking about this at all, I was related to her. Seriously, she was like my great aunt of something.

  • Happy belated 115th birthday Lillian Gish!

  • clearly one of the most beautiful person i've ever set eyes on.

  • There's a little something about her that reminds me of Ida Lupino in face. She was more beautiful though than Ida. Thanks for post.

  • I think she was incredibly beautiful.

  • @HarveyCartwright Good for her! I now feel the urge to share pics of her on Stormfront's Beautiful Women thread! :)

  • Very nice. a collector- friend of mine has a few pieces of her furniture. Im seeing a little Carolyn Jones in some of her expressions... I apologize to fans, it's not meant to be an insult.Beautiful woman.

  • :( it makes me sad and happy sad because she died happy because we will always remember the great lillian gish

  • Every man will wonder why she never married . . . she was so beautiful . . but it was her life, and well spent. Thanks, Lillian.

  • thanks for the tribute for my um ... i dont know my great aunt i dont know but she was great

  • i have two picture books on her,one of the most beautiful women ever.

  • Yes, a dear woman she was, and one who never back tracked or apologized for any thing she ever stood for.

She should have had ten children.

  • She died 99,an angel!

  • The Gish Sisters along with D. W. Griffith, made the movie industry what it is today.. I saw one of her talks with film on PBS. and she told a lot about films and the times.....She acted up to the very end.........

  • Que música é essa?

    Simplismente linda!

  • Good spirited comments thank you one and all.

As the enternal enemy aliens of Western man, you dig your holes all through history.

  • She was a great Movie-Star, and more -

    thanks a lot for all ☆☆☆☆☆ !

  • The entneral enemy aliens of Western folk search out the tiniest counters to their lies to shill US for one more day.

She was a true patriot too, not a neocon. She supported Charles A. Lindbergs "America First" Organization to keep US out of FDR's contrived war 100% Even though she was offered jobs if she would resign

    Bless her spirits R.I.P.

  • She was so beautiful...

  • To me, she was the most beatiful woman that ever walked the planet....Just something about her......

  • What a lovely tribute to a lovely lady!

  • She looks incredibly ethereal, like she's not a mortal at all! Definitely has one of a kind looks, I've not seen another actress that looks as fragily pretty as she looked when she was so young!

  • I know what you mean, she has a very fragile look about her.

  • how beautiful

  • She was a true patriot too, not a neocon. She supported Charles A. Lindbergs "America First" Organization to keep US out of FDR's contrived war 100% Even though she was offered jobs if she would resign

    Bless her spirits R.I.P.

  • Charles Lindberg was a certifed Nazi.

Look up his Commander Cross of the German Eagle.

  • Beautiful. Pachabel's Canon goes well with Lillian Gish.

Hey did you know the Golden Silents dot com web site is having an essay contest where you can write about your favorite star and win a lot of free films? Go check it out, if you love Lillian you might win. She has a lot of fans there!

  • Miss Gish IS my favorite screen actress and I think her legacy will last a very long time. What a lovely tribute and the Pachelbel Canon was a beautiful backdrop. Thank you Sakurasoh!

  • Oh what dreams.

  • wow! she's like a porcelain doll or a still painting. it freaks me out in a way, but she is so beautiful.

  • As pretty as a Lilly!

  • She looks so innocent and angelic, not at all like the photos taken of the actresses today, where they have less clothing on and look like they want to make out with the photographer!

  • I especially like 0:44

  • I LIKE 2.18

  • Superb tribute . . . great photos. I'm still in love with her, and guess I always will be . . .!

  • She looks just like a glass doll. So pretty. If only people now a days weren't so... fake looking.

  • If only I was born a hundred years earlier,I would've tracked down this girl and proposed to her straight away.lol.

  • It's a surprise she was never married, and lived to 99 not married.

  • Yeah lol, that never ceases to amaze me.

  • she was the great! she as the one!

  • No words to describe this wonder...

  • she was pretty, I wonder what she looked like when she was old. Cause damn she had to be like 100 when she died.....i never heard of a silent film star living that long (o_O)

  • I think this is by far one of the best of the Silent Film Stars!

  • Part 2.

I dont know if its Haiti or somewhere in Afica, Then she's showing off her exotic fishes and then the film ends with her on a cruse ship I think the Queen Mary where she focus on a distant ship I was amazed at the flag of other the ship, 1940's German ship ww2 ,lillian Gish will never be forgotten by me. I'm preserving the film, The film was given to me by her estate manager when she passed away.

  • This is a great tribute film! It was a great pleasure being her Doorman for the 10 I've known her, I have a home movie she personelly filmed Back in the 30's 40's, It seems like she edited herself, The film starts out as being a house party ,then it goes to somewhere in the forest where she poses, then it goes to some Island,

  • Wonderful homage to an unforgettable actress, the imcomparable LILLIAN GISH. No one could hold a candle to her - then or now.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • M A D O N N A imitats her(with rescepect)

    on her immaculate collection cover.

  • i'm not old enough to have appreciated the silent movies in their day. but lillian is by far my favorite of all. she had the most innocent delecate beauty that, even today, nobody can come close.nobody.

  • Forget beauty. She was an amazing actress whose eyes could so powerfully yet subtely express a whole range of emotions. I have a poster of her from The Night of the Hunter. Just saw her in Broken Blossoms.

  • I am a reletive of hers also, i am 13 years old, i am related on my grandfather's side, i am so glafd to see that she is still appreciated today She passed on the year i was born there is a book about the gish family, it is a family book, that a man wrote for us and it is about the Gish family Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for loving Lillian

  • Probably one of the finest leading ladies of all times. By far...Lillian in our hearts!

    Thank you!

  • One of the most beautiful between beauties!!!!

    Oh,my god!why there aren't women..ladies...with this beauty today?

    So natural...so perfect!

Lillian, you will be ever in our hearts!!!

    ankhsnammon

  • Very pretty pictures. Never seen most of them even though I too am related to her

  • One of my fave actresses ever! I envy the people who said they are related to her! She was an amazing wise sweet woman and one hell of an actress!

  • A fine video.

  • Thanku for putting a Tribute to Lillian Gish on Youtube. One question, what is the piece of music you used?

  • You are most welcome! Glad you like this video clip. The song used here is John Pachabel's Canon in D major.

  • I think there should be a feature film too...who would play Lillian? She is in the Family Forest.

  • i like this video.

  • Just lovely! Oh how I wish I lived in that era

  • i am related to lillian gish. in 1:00 that is what i look like with shorter air and freckles. and she was my eighth cousin once removed

  • i'm related to her too!!!

  • It seemed as if Venus had become human... I never thought someone could have so much sharp, fine beauty and not let it fade away

  • EXCELLENT tribute to the GREATEST film actress of all time!

  • At the same time I was watching pictures of the legendary Lillian Gish, it was appropriate to hear such wonderful music at the same time. I actually have Miss Gish's autograph, when I sent her a fan letter in the early 90's. I honestly think there should be a feature film on the life of Lillian Gish. Maggie Gyllenhaal has those eyes. Just a thought. RC in Austin, Texas

  • Pre-Raphaelite Beauty.

  • Great TRIBUTE!!

    Thank you.

    Deketelaere-Ciccione.

  • A very, very nice work. Thank you very much.

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out my clip of silent movie star tobacco cards. They include: Lillian Gish, Charlie Chaplin, Rudolph Valentino, Mary Pickford, Lillian Gish, Tom Mix, Jackie Coogan, Harold Lloyd and many more.

  • It's clear she was possessed of character and genius--but I have never laid eyes on a more beautiful woman.

  • I am going to attach a video answer--and in the second half you will see the relevance to this video.

  • Thank you, sakurasoh! I love this song. =)

  • I love her. She is truly a treasure in film history.

  • OMG...I've heard this song before many times, and have always wondered what it's called. Could you please tell me what it is, if you know? I would really appreciate it!

  • The background music is Canon in D Major by John Pachabel. I luv this song so much and decided to use this for Lillian's montage.

  • thank you so much. i have adored dear lillian all my life. many years ago i read a wonderful biography of her by i think it was her daughter. i adore her. looking at her and watching her in her films often brings tears to my eyes. and your tribute was a beauty too. thank you!

  • Ms. Gish never married or had children. I highly recommend Her book The Movies, Mr. Griffith And Me, it is very interesting. And indeed in the twenties with due respect while Mary Pickford was the most popular, Ms. Gish certainly was the most talented of the two.

  • Yes, that's it, that's the book I read. I'm sorry, I was confusing this book with one by the daughter of the great stage actress Laurette Taylor. So sorry!

  • I love her autobiography!! Every Lillian Gish fan should read it!

  • "many years ago i read a wonderful biography of her by i think it was her daughter."

I don't think she had any kids.

  • Such a beautiful tribute to a great movie star! Lillian Gish is one of my favorite! just look at what a godess she was! I love the sweet melody it fits her features. You did a great job! Lillian Gish kicks ass!!!
