  • why the hell do only have the people go to part 2 ?

  • I think the head stay is the key also. Killer job on the 1/2" monsters. I had a 90 cr500. Big power and long life. Great videos.

  • Ya i think your right about the head stays importance in being a big part of failures. I dont think yours are going anywhere. I had a 90 cr500 about ten years ago, yours sounds exactly like it did. Love the high power long life engine. Great vids!

  • What filler rod did you use for your frame welds. Have you had any cracks? Saw all of the vids and the af looks awsome !

  • @allaird1 My friend did the tig welding , I dont know what rod he used, not one crack so far, check out the headstay later in the project

  • Awesome, totally Awesome. not original but worth it. Gonna try a '97 cr 250 chassis & an '89 cr500. You & Duckman made me do it, thats what I'll tell everyone! Watched a bunch of your vids, thanks for the tips & hints (braces for welding, should mention that the cleaner the area to be welded the better the weld.)

  • @dethmonger117 Cool, just dont skimp on the headstay

  • nice work dude i use to have a 1993 kx 500 and wish i could of done this but with a kxf 450 frame

  • @CR125MANIAC Yep I agree with keeping it all green, I 'am a KX fan myself

  • @dirtbiker4Christ I think I have about 5k in it after I sold the 250 engine, as far as stickers I should get some more made up, watch for info on stickers on my channel page

  • probably a question u have already been asked here.. but what year model frame and motor did you use.. And do you know if other year model frames enable the motor to fit without having to cut the frame. If there is a model frame where all you needed was to change the engine mounting tabs it would be lot less scary a project! good on you for doing this

  • @bridgestone1974 The late 90's CR250 has a frame that does not need to be cut, just make new tabs and a strong head stay and away you go

  • im going to sound like the biggest idiot but what does AF stand for in 500 AF, sorry im new to these sorts of restorations

  • @socafan22 Hey no problem, AF stands for aluminum frame

  • @groutaone ahh it makes sense now, nice restore btw watched them all

  • HONDA SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS. I M SO GLAD THERE'S SOME ONE SMARTER AND BETTER THEN THERE MILLION DOLLAR R & D TEAM. AND THAT WOULD BE YOU, YOU DID ALL THAT FOR AROUND 5K. NOT INCLUDING LABOR, HONDA WOULD HAVE SPENT AROUND 100 TO 200K. JUST ON START UP COST,

  • @banzaimotorcross lol thanks

  • hay man your doing a awsome job making these videos. do you think i could put my 500 in a 125 frame?

  • @hewdog2583 thanks, yes it can be done, a friend of mine has done that conversion

  • @groutaone isnt the 125 frame the same size as a 250 frame?

  • @BigManlyMan4 most would think so but the 125 has less room and needs more work but it can be done

  • @groutaone hmm strange. Great job on the bike tho! Check out my 1994 KX250 rebuild/restore video! Not as in depth as yours but oh well aha.

  • hey mate very nice bike i loved watching ur whole documentation on the build of this bike perfect job love the shine on that frame. just wondering what engine and frame you used, im looking at doing this how much do you think this would cost ?

    thank you nice bike

  • @FIREWATERELECTRIC

sorry just relised 03 cr250 frame and 1990 engine?

  • @FIREWATERELECTRIC thanks for watching, cost depends mostly on how much you paid for the bike and the total cost of the 500 engine

  • how did u seperate the weld on the y

  • @paintball300109 I used a cutting disc on a hand held grinder

  • i am thinking of doing this conversion on my 2007 crf250r

  • AF stands for aluminum frame

  • what means the af ?what are you doing with this?

  • Close, its an 03 cr250 frame

  • That looks like an '02 frame..is it?

  • yes, it's a 1990 500. I also had a 1984 CR500 years ago that I'am riding in some of my old videos, but tha one is air cooled.

  • so is that the same motor out of the 90 500?

  • Kingjames, the crf is not more work, just a bit different. The rads fit but you will have to work with the air boot mount and most likely the fuel tank. The Y has to move up but the strategy is different. The lower and front engine mount also needs to be changed and you still have to play with the swing arm bushings. I think once you start, you wont regret. Hope that helps.

  • Has anyone out there tried bumping the compression up on the CR500 as it's only 6.8 -1? Can you still start it and how did it change the power?

  • And another 500 riders member here,im stevo af 500.Good vid by the way!!

  • Hi John, yes I am a cr500riders member, not active but I like to look around on that most excellent web site, I'am gearhead over there. I have part 2 of this video series ready but I can't upload, I think it's my computer or file size or something.

  • Are you a member of cr500riders. c o m?

If so, this is RideRed. Nice build!

  • Thanks bobby, i've watched several of your videos, nice bike.

  • welcome to cr 500 af home made world buddie , check on " bobbywhoops" i made it myself out of a crf 250 frame and the other is a crf 450 frame good luck
