  • @fkucnts1 K'naan can write better english sentences then you and hes from that "worthless country." It's ignorant dumb fucks like you that have set human progression back.

  • @dreadykruegr i wish i could repeatedly like your comment.

  • @fkucnts1 i bet your mother was raped by a somali guy no wonder you have so many angers against somalis too bad you cant say that to a somali's face

  • i love k'naan

  • The 17 dislikes work for George W Bush!!

  • she know where to touch me to turn me to stone.

    definitely k'naan's best.

  • have to agree :)

  • knaan should make more music like this and like (in the beginning)

  • @fkucnts1 Please, Stfu...... Retards. Smh.

  • @ this song very good , love live k`naan .

  • Douche. Zorabr. -.-

  • sounds like his goat got into the recording studio

  • so good

  • THIS GUY IS AMAZING

  • am i wrong or fuck ali mahdi?

  • @wanna2rock ceeeeeeeeeeeeeb ! It's 2011, be positive

  • @mustafqaan why ceeb? he fucked up that country and all hawiye culprits # smh

  • @mustafqaan whats ceeeeeb?

  • Making claims about things you know little about is wrong, unless you want to advertise your ignorance for the whole to see. Somalis are Muslim that doesnt make them Arab. Their alphabet is in a latin script, not Arabic. I dont hate Arabs, only reclaiming my identity that you wish to hijack.

  • @MrGololi I'm somali and i think am arab kaa sheegay bal

  • thumbs up if you've been a fan of K'naan since "the dusty foot philosopher"

  • Alright, I'm already getting sick of this "New Old Spice guy Fabio" Look, you sound like you got a huge dick in your mouth, and nothing about your new videos are trippy, like the old ones. I'm sick of your gay accent, I can't understand a word you're saying. Bring back the black guy, please.

  • @NinjaBroskiyoSki Yea the black guy was waaaay better.

  • i like how kanan talks in somali..:)

  • i didnt want the song to end :)

  • i think that k'naan will be the next biggest hit

just as Bob Marley was voice of Jamaica

K'naan will be the voice Somalia.

  • @AureliusMaximus10 oh really , what extra pride do u have over all nations of the world. all musicians are from different countries, you dont see ppl saying oh he is american or oh he is this n that every 2 secs.....im saying why r somalis like that wen they onli have knaan n r from the shittest looking country in the world ...real talk

  • @Dontreplybak The country wasnt always shit, and what do you expect it to look like after years of war? Have you ever even seen pictures of what it looked like, and the serene beauty that lingers still? Its not like its the same person saying "He's Somali" . Besides, why not have pride for the only Somali dude that attempted to bring a tidbit of the beauty of Somali poetry into the lives of the world at large.

  • @Dontreplybak Furthermore, it wouldnt make a shadow of sense for Americans to say boast of an artists "American-ness" Since there are thousands of American artists, and also because we are in America. And the same for other countries. K'naan is probably the only Somali singer that the rest of the world would recognize. All the other Somali Artists sing in Somali, so only a Somali could recognize the poetry in them. A bit odd of you to be annoyed at a peoples pride in someone, but whatev.

  • I can hear the Somalian rhythem, he has an somali feeling or mix in his work, I Love IT !

  • daaayyyuuumn - Fire in freetown is blazin!!!

  • "Like the Hardness of the Rain"

  • wtf man.... if I wanted the hear the song I would have just opened my itunes.... there is a reason why this site is called you tube and not 'you listen' .... dumbass......

  • @QuiGonJag lol no video released for this video yet

  • his kinda like kanye west hes not just a rapper he is a all round musician

  • @celebration123456 eh? I would never compare him to Kanye, he's got a few more tightened screws and more content in his lyrics, I feel.

  • Like fire in freetown this song keeps going on

  • Knaaan is the greatest, one day all will knoww

  • Love love LOVE!!!

  • Knaan is a unique figure in Hip Hop

  • @theXchillroastedbean he's samali

  • @realdealteal111 i was talking to the other dude haha

  • @Lilawais I'm Pakistani too and I agree

  • @Lilawais yer but no one wants to donate aid to pkaistan coz u crazy turban monkeys brought it on urself. yud rather die for islam than die for pakistan. u sepdn part of ur budget on terror groups and hate anyone that isnt muslim. uve lost control of part of ur country but yet u spend monkey on nuclear weapons. when paki flooded no muslims countries gave u aid but it was white western ppl but u hate them too n call them infidels its easy to blame other ppl but u never accept responsibility lazy

he'll never knw what real suffering is so why u keep trying to say he knws what raps about.he dont know shit.cause rapping comes from misfortune and suffering.

B.O.B Is an ok rapper.but he'll never be great.

  • agree to disagree the new world order!

  • What a tune!! Bob Marley would be proud!

  • ha ha ha

    sidii hogasha roobka

    sikk

  • how can you listen to any of his songs and not like them? K'naan is the best artist out there. best song is "voices in my head" listen if you have not yet.

  • @aaronrabinowitz Yeah well maybe the best artist for u. He is really great tho but i cant say the best.. Check out b.o.b he is awesome too. Not the comercial shit like airplanes tho. It sucks made for money that song was. But b.o.b is usually all about deep toughts great lirical shit

  • i love the saxophone solo..or whatever instrument that is

  • I do not speak English but I love the melody and her voice (thank you google translation) French short comment: j'adore !

  • @Folle971 You just said, i don't speak English, but i hate the melody and her voice.

  • @Tehmutednoob oh sorry I love the song but I not speak English. I'm French !

  • I first heard K'naan when they played his song Wavin' Flag during the World Cup Soccer games and I've loved his music ever since. <3 He never ceases to be amazing.

  • Aint nothin wrong with katy perry tho...

  • why cant people reconise good music i mean fucking katy perry cheryl cole jls wtf there ALL SHITE

  • Its a shame the Grammys didn't even recognize him.

Then again, they nominate people like katy perry...nuff said

  • @missfashionfoward

why are the grammys something to respect? f**k them. it's their loss if they keep failing to recognize good music. tells you a lot abt the idiots on board.

for the record, i don't even like hip hop, but am totally disarmed by k'naan's music.

  • Knaan is one of my favorite artist. Mainstream music is disapointing right now D=.

  • @MaxDorval K'naan is mainstream.

  • @KlarnerUrukai I know but most of his songs aren't. I was talking about what I hear on the radio mostly.

  • we in our town are waiking up too because of u k naan!!!

  • Does anyone understand the meaning of this song? When I first heard it I interpreted it as a description of the war in Sierra Leone (since Freetown is the capital) and there was a big battle there during the war.

  • I must be mental. This does not, at all; Sound like hip-hop or Rap to me. Still some very cool shit; Well done K'naan.

  • this fella is the shit not since Public Enemy, KRS-ONE or Da La Soul has a rap artist moved me the way rap should move us all. Keep it up, raw talent is like a storm a revolution, cant be ignored!!!!

  • i looove knaan

  • one of my favorite songs

  • I listen to this song, almost everyday!

  • the only way you can become a legend is to not have the money to make your self famous you have to do it your self.

  • real music.

  • K'Naan is the best! I just love his music...all his songs have great message.

  • i dont know what to describe this guy!

  • The Best Song He has Written. (:

  • @CocoAlex182 listen to smile

  • i love knaan. he is the best.

  • one of my fav song by him...

  • Replayed this song 10 times in a row, no embellishment or exaggeration.

  • K'naan is true to music. He has actual words in his music. Ryan Harvey is another. I wouldn't mind if they teamed up.

  • One of the greatest tracks of all time

  • Whats this? No big booty' bitchiz' in the lyrics? Nothing about "swag" , gold teeth or cars? I approve!

  • @brn2killl

dude get off mainstreams jock who cares if u diss them your still wraped in them

    one love

    one foundation

  • i remember meeting him and his band back in the beginning and loved his music, and since then his music hasn't changed one bit which is the best part.

  • I think this is exactly what bob marley would sound like if he were still alive and still made music today. I'm sure the times now would put just a little hip-hop in his music and this is what he'd sound like. I cant get enough of this, its so sothing

  • amen. i hate when ppl bitch that someone came to good music b/c they happened to hear it somewhere mainstream! it's like 'i'm so discerning!' good for you but chill!

  • who cares if you loved him before world cup. honestly what does that matter.

  • @orangejump11 exactly

  • thumbs up if you think k'naan is a good singer

  • @pepsiarabia1 i agree 1 trillion percent. hes such a great singer. and his songs are all great.

  • Waxaan jeclahay knaan!!!!!! Waan rabaa hadana!!

Waa arin quruxbadan, wanaagsan, aad loola dhacay!!!!

    Muaaaaahhhhhh xoxoxoxo

  • this song makes me happy...... wohooo

  • ffaaaavvvvv ;P on the album (:

  • Second to Tupac Shakur :)

  • What does sidii hagsha roobka mean

  • @mike30947 its kinda means "like the strength of the rain"

sidii is a loose translation of "like" (simile)

    roobka is rain

hagsha is like towards or against, in the sense of you cant necessarily get thru it, so its more metaphorical

    I hope i helped

  • @Amatallah2008 lol nice translation but hogasha really means rainy cloud.

when he says hogasha roobka, to me? it means fire in freetown like stormy cloud.

ps. this song's original CLASSIC somali version was sung by the beautiful maandeeq. SIDII HOGASHA ROOBKA.

  • @AfricanBloodz lol mahadsanid;) i was close lol, Waxaan jeclahay the classic version:) its rly pretty. I get what you're saying ab the translation, I guess I never thought of it like that...

  • Comment removed

  • @AfricanBloodz Sidii Hogosha Robka is a really old school term. Had to ask some older folks for a meaning. Basically they said hogosha isn't just one thing its like a mood the setting when the rain is about to fall and the way the air feels and the clouds looked...as in a beautiful moment. So the original song was saying to her he is like that moment. haha wa hees macaan

  • freetown, sierra leone is a very meaningful city

  • take the time

  • Dear World Cup

    Thanks for showing me k'naan

now i got upbeat, yet chill music to listen to

  • dear Nahasapeemapetilon93,

thanks for knowing apu's last name

  • do i still get a thumbs up if i found k naan after the cup having nothing to do with the cup?

  • Thumbs up for knowing artists as amazing or better than K'naan before they became known to the general public... *eyeroll*

  • love this song! love it!

  • knaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan

  • he took a CLASSIC Somali song and made it his own. AMAZING AMAZING <3 i love this song <3

  • The human race has offically found 11 Unknown species on this planet earth with youtube access. There is no way a real human can hate this

  • Not one K'naan song has disappointed me, and i mean that, the ambiguity and different styles he incorporates in his music can appeal to everyone and thats the definition of a true artist, K'naan is unique to his art, can't wait till his next album.

Also love that he is from Mogadishu, and i love their language wich has arabic and west african influences, your music is an inspiration to me and you as an individual too.

    Respect from a Tunisian

  • @Carthag0Eagle

lol u funny Knaan is a native Somalian, hence his and my language are eastern-Cushitic Somali language... nothing to do with arabs, exept for the fact that they converted us Somalians to islam around 600 years ago...

other then that its arabic that got words from Somali but changed it.. not vice-versa.. dont get it twisted bro, just because u tunisian-arabic semites and egypt-arab semites stole north-africa, that doesent mean you can steal my fellow Somalian Knaans identity

  • @CushiticSomalianMale

The Somalian language has Arabic influences just like North-African Berber dialects have Arabic influences

Besides we north Africans are not Arabs, we are mostly Arabised Berbers and up to this day in Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia there are still places where Berber genetics can reach peaks up to 90% of the population.

  • @CushiticSomalianMale

Even the English language has Arabic influences mate, you're the one who has things twisted.

  • @Carthag0Eagle Love to Tunisia from Somalia:)

  • @CushiticSomalianMale

I am anti-Arab trust me but the Somali language has huge junk of Arabic. It has nothing to do with conversion to Islam or whatever. Somalis are not the only non-Arabs who converted but how many nations have maybe 40% arabic in their languages?

Its not only the words its also the dialogue, the way Somalis prounce things, the alphabet same as Arabic.

Anyways to me Somalis, Berbers and Habasha (Ethiopians and Eritreans) were related, they use to live in North Egypt.

  • Je suis un somali qui aime ma langue maternelle d'ailleurs je fais des cours en vidéos,

    40% me parait exagéré

Les somalis côtoyons les arabes principalement les yéménites depuis des siècles pourtant nous avons toujours notre langue et nos coutumes.

  • @FRYON08 yeah :) i under stood some of that lol. im getting beter at french! lol. u said :

i am somali and i think u said like ur launguage? or is that friend? lol im not that good at french...

  • @blackdawn88655 He said Somalis are 40% Arab. I dont know that much french, but I understood that much because I saw another post like that in English just a few minutes ago. Gah! 40%!! Somebody do something about this extreme misinformation! Its crazy I tell you. lol

  • @pashun88 lol. ya really. somaliis r kinda unlucky.. they get a bad rep were i live as trouble makers an ganagstas, i mean some of them r but its the same with every race i feel kinda sorry for them,

just the other day my dads like ur not going to that school, cause theres alot of somaliians im like what thw hell dad?! this is canada?!!!!!

  • @blackdawn88655 Somalis need to stop this stupid gangster-tryna be bloods and crips- hiphop culture act. It's really annoying to me as a Somali. Not only does it give us a bad rep, but what about their parents? They did not come here for their kids to become gangsters! Sometimes I think they should be sent back to Somalia to see the true effect of violence. I'm sure there are many kids back home that would take their space and be more than productive with it. Are you Somali?

  • @pashun88 im not somalian, im italian, french scotish, irish belgian and canadian and i don't really know many somalians,

but i know about the whole bloods and crips thing its like that in a lota cultures. including asians i know so many asians those people r seriously gonna take over the world lol

my friends thinks that drugs r good, an i mean u can't send em back cause there country just had an earthquake(burma) and theres civil war...

  • @FRYON08 NO! Wrong.

  • @Kayse2010 Anti-arab...? fuck u u racist shit. U should keep quiet about that. I am anti-u fuckin jerk!!!!

  • @Kayse2010 What the fuck is wrong with you?

    fucking Nazi.

  • @Kayse2010 Nutcase Somalis are an ancient people, with ancient African lineages. East Africa is where mankind rose. The Somali language is cushitic and Arabic is semetic, there are more Arabic words in English language than in Somali BY FAR!

  • @Carthag0Eagle enlighten me bro....what part of the somali language has got a west african influence?

  • @Carthag0Eagle Peace to Tunisia. What I've been seeing on the news lately honestly worries me. I hope to God everything goes well.

  • @Carthag0Eagle good comments from two good people

  • @Carthag0Eagle so true, brother...

  • @Carthag0Eagle I am sorry , the language of Knaan and Mogadishu is Somali and it is from Hamitic language of Ancient-Egyptians pharaohs as the linguists proved it . Somalia is the Land of Punt and has its own culture and language . So respect , the Somali identity .

  • @Carthag0Eagle you man..are u still alive

  • @Carthag0Eagle sweet, im somalian and my younger sister was born in tunisia :D

  • @Carthag0Eagle Im tunisian too and i respect that. Pretty glad of the recent revolution was about time people start to fight for themselves. Whats up with all this shit in this world. Fuck stand up and fight damnit. Knaan is great hope he stays away from all that comercial bullshit

  • Check out this new poet on:

    youtube.com/watch?v=KyXdijN4rwc

  • i know knaan befor the fucken world cup

  • I'm happy to see Knaan getting known around the world. I remember hearing him for the first time and telling loads of people who we're all rather uninterested, but then they hear it 100 times at the world championship, now they can't get around it xD
