it is so amazing that after i saw the entire video watching her hands i had to see it again watching her feet gently pressing the pedals as exactly as her hands, no word to describe
@ensaiodeporrada : I'm glad you like the video... filmed during a memorable sunday afternoon at Abbey Road Studios (ARS) in London. The recording she did there (the next day) of the 4th concerto, with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), is stunning, as are the other Rachmaninoff recordings she did at ARS with LSO. Let's hope they will be released soon.
I saw VL play this in Portland a few years ago and it was the best thing I've ever heard live. If you ever get a chance to hear her perform this piece, drop everything and get a ticket. It's very underrated piece that is seldom performed. What's scary about Rachmaninoff is that he is a very underrated composer. There is so much happening, it is so thick that you really have to listen and pay attention to understand how much is going on in his work.
I really believe the original version far superior!! it should be in the standardrepertoire.Only because the critics panned it at the premiere ,did R. revise it . Cursed be the critics(in general:-)
I love watching the delight in her face as she plays. It Tranquilizes me just as much as the music. The passion she projects into playing resonates with me as a vicarious experience. It's like, by reading her body language, i almost get to feel what it's like to play. She's amazing.
In my opinion, this is Rachmaninoff's most misunderstood work. When in fact it's quite monumental. His prior Piano Concertos are beautiful and standards in the repertoire, but this concerto is always overlooked by many pianists. It's quite advanced in tonal harmonies. It's the jazz of Rachmaninoff perfected. They should perform this more often.
@cuteshox : I agree with your thoughtful comment, much appreciated and thanks. The recording of the 4th by Valentina with LSO - I'm among the happy few who've heard it already - is not only stunning, but also exemplifying where it should belong in Rachmaninoff's oeuvre... yes, it's - as you've put it - quite monumental.
I just love this pianist! But I hate her a little now after seeing the size of her hands :( Valentina you play like a dream and make we want to be a better "practicer". Keep up the hard work, best wishes to you in your career.
Any piano Valentina touches/plays turns to Gold. Any Rachmaninoff piece Valentina plays is God in pure Joy. ☼♥☼

ついに4番のソロテイク出ました。すごくいい音ですね。練習とはいえいつものようにうっとりします。又凄くリラックスして楽しんでいるようだし、丁寧に音を確認しながら全く妥協のない厳しさも観られますね。
