my newfy likes to eat gofers, yup thats right. digs em up and eats them, if I catch him and tell him to spit them our, he gobbles them down even faster. So , I figure its fresh meat and since I do only organic gardening, there can be nothing in the gofer that can hurt him. From what I understand this is really strange for this breed. NOw my neighbor wants to borrow him to clean up his gofer problem....

How much does a newfie shed?

I can brush a pile of hair, daily, the size of good size cat. They are double coated and the hair is extremely fine and silky. They matte easily so daily brushing is mandatory. Oh, and then they blow coat twice a year, which requires a little additional attention. The real issue with newfies is drool. It is so viscous it's almost its own life form. When they shake their heads a 2ft string can easily fly 6ft. Amazing & gross at the same time.
