He erroneously references a figure of 7% (it was actually 5%) of male-on-male assaults. Even gives a great example of a service member discharged under DADT who kept up his part of the bargain and kept quiet but still got thrown out.

At a normal job your boss can't walk into your place of residence and inspect how you live. I stated all people found guilty of a crime should receive the same punishment AS DICTATED BY THE LAW. There are different laws around murder and manslaughter and so the punishment would differ as appropriate.

As the Military Times article that you referenced pointed out, Sheehan messed up on the 8% figure, it was "more like 5%" (that quote is from that MT article you gave me).
So Sheehan got that wrong for openers. Also, its *impossible* to deduce likelihood unless you know how many gay service personnel there are serving, which Sheehan did not.

Firstly I apologize. Sheehan has indeed referenced a report in this article, but not the one you claim (so I'll continue to wait for that). He erroneously references a figure of 7% (it was actually 5%) of male-on-male assaults. So he seems to be stating that gays are a problem and the 'evidence' of this is 95% of sexual assaults are carried out by STRAIGHT men?

@foreerknight99 Been reading that article some more. I'm surprised you gave it to me actually. It presents a very compelling argument against DADT and how dumb it was. Even gives a great example of a service member discharged under DADT who kept up his part of the bargain and kept quiet but still got thrown out.
It also shows how shouted down and ridiculed Sheehan was in that meeting, particualrly by the Committee Chairman.

At a normal job, if you get a DUI, your boss really doesn't care as long as it doesn't impare your ability to do your job. At a normal job your boss can't walk into your place of residence and inspect how you live. At a normal job you don't spend a year in a desert being shot at and blown up, showering with 20 other persons of the same gender. The military is more than a "job".

I have the greatest respect for any person in the military and I have no problems whatsoever with homosexuals, but I do not think it is necessary to establish that you are homosexual or heterosexual, bisexual WHATEVER in the workplace.
