there was no saving in this game, if you lost all your lives, Game Over, and start again...I beat this game when I was about 6 years old.... one of my greatest achievements in my gaming experience.

I love this game but can't get over the fact that sometime in development the makers must have said "you know what the last level needs? A monster that looks like a giant cock with teeth that vomits larvae monsters at you!" and no one found this idea to be strange.

man, i preferred the spread gun in the original NES Contra games because the bullets would come out at random intervals so you always have a crazy stream of bullets. In contra 3, they are forced or set it to disperse in two blast rounds and made it seem less powerful/concentrated.

One of my all-time favorites. If I don't make a stupid mistake I can beat this and Super C without getting killed. Contra 3 on hard mode is brutal, I didn't make it past stage 3 unless I used a game genie.

Though I must have played this game 100 times as a kid, the music is not familiar at all. (Usually I recognize the music if not much else from a game.)

Konami/Ultra games always had the best graphics.

If you have a weapon + fire rate powerup, don't pick up that same weapon again because you will loose the fire rate powerup.

This game certainly didn't show anyone mercy so any advantage short of a game genie I consider totally appropriate. Also, I did the same thing and still died on stage 4 every time.

damn, this brings back such fond memories of childhood...contra was the awesomest thing...When that final line came out and says"..consider yourself a hero" I felt like one! And be all happy and proud of myself for saving the universe, until my mom would call both me and my brother to the dining table for lunch!

How did Konomi not get sued? That pink boss looks so close to the Alien and in Contra 4, theres ailen look alikes walking around. Also pods shoot out alien babies. How did they not get sued?

If only the Spread Gun was THAT powerful on Contra III. Just completed it (and uploaded it), and the Spread Gun is not that hot on Contra III, especially on the last level...-_-

But I still used it anyway.

It really isnt as hard as Super C without a doubt, I have beated that game several times. Now Contra 4 is more like a challlenge, specially in the hard mode!
