@makosharkman If you're quick enough, you can find the paining in its original place in the cargo hold so the Hackers won't have to give it back to you.

If you leave your items like the book, painting, and the real necklace with the purser, you won't lose them and Penny Pringle gives them back to you when the ship starts sinking.

On the top of the smokestack, if you give Zeitel the notebook, you have to go back to his cabin and get it and difuse a bomb.

There are more ways, too.

@makosharkman There are also different endings that depend on which combination of the 3 items you rescue from the ship. However, all endings except the true ending result in you getting killed.
