I am soo glad you recorded this!! I'm playing the Russian Rag for my Amus too! But people think I'm too young to pass (I'm in year 7). :'( Anyway, you played great!
@poofypeach Maybe one day - at the moment, LMus would be a bit out of my reach, and besides, with work, there's just no way I could fit in enough practice. Good luck with your AMus!
@poofypeach I played it for my AMusA, which should give you a rough idea of the level of difficulty. I basically chose it becuase I enjoyed it. It takes a lot of concentration, as there are various lines of melody going on at the same time which need to be shaped, but from a technical perspective, it's probably not one of the most challenging on the syllabus. I had a lot of fun with it, which has to be the best reason to choose a piece to play.
@poofypeach It's in the performer's certificate list for Trinity, which is meant to be a stepping stone between 8th grade and ATCL (Trinity equivalent of AMusA).
hahahahahahahahah! I love this! Especially the last part. For me, it somehow gets humourous and haunting and beautiful at the same time. So complicated... love it!
I'm surprised more pianists have not discovered this piece, especially after it was used in the movie Mary and Max. It's such a great composition, yet this is the only video on youtube of anyone playing it! The sheet music is published in a book of rags by Elena for anyone that wants to aquire it.
beauty!

@rhye93 Lmus is going to have to wait quite a while. For now it's on the maybe one day list.

Beautiful playing and I love your piano!
I have just had a sign read of Sunday Rag in her book of rags and that is a lot of fun too. I might attempt the Russian Rag.

It's great the way you play much better than alot of people who play loud and fast.

@pyronaught it does not have original themes that's why, I would say. It is like music from the US 1910-1930 and central European tunes
