  • Attack?!?!?! I ment attract!

  • You should put that it's John De Lance from Star Trek in the info bar - I bet it will attack the Trekkies!

  • John De Lance!!!!!!!!!!!!! A legend! One of my favorite actors! Such a great voice! The speech he recites is a great one.

This is a dark age for America which still casts a shadow over the nation today....It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.

  • "Just think of the tragedy of teaching children not to doubt." Clarence

    Darrow

  • Thanks for the quote - all quotes from this trial are welcome.

  • "I do not believe in God because I do not believe in Mother Goose" Clarence

    Darrow

  • "The fear of God is not the beginning of wisdom. The fear of God is the death of wisdom."

-Clarence Darrow (*Not* Charles Darwin, as it is usually attributed)

  • Thanks for all these Darrow quotes

  • Hey NP, CorporalNym.

I'm glad you replied because I needed to amend that comment... but forgot to ;-)

While the above quote *is* from Darrow, it's not usually attributed to Darwin as I suggested.

I was thinking of the following :

"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but rather the one most adaptable to change" *That* was in fact Clarence Darrow, NOT Charles Darwin.

  • "To think is to differ." Clarence Darrow

  • "I do not consider it an insult, but rather a compliment, to be called an agnostic. I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure -- that is all agnosticism means." Clarence Darrow, Scopes Trial, 1925

  • Excellent, nothing less!

  • Very well said. Mr. Darrow and Mr. Scopes were brave men.

  • Excellent!!! - I completely missed that play. Apparently the original motivation for the relatively new creationist movement in the U.S. which started last century came from the political left.

The Trade Union movement falsely believed that Darwin's theory justified leaving people in poverty because to eleviate this would prevent evolution and 'diminish' the human 'race'. Instead of self educating they resorted to legislating. Idiots!

  • It'll take a man of far greater learning and inherited intellect than me to state the endless benefits to mankind if this video was made required viewing in all schools. I will say, and say with much joy, that on learning about Mr. Scopes' bravery, and Mr. Darrow's defense of Mr. Scopes actions, I had to rethink my opinion that humans are not fit to be considered descendans of the usually gentle and caring apes. Five stars!
