  • oh my god. i feel like i just saw a communism training video.

  • If it was up to greenpeace, half of the world would starve and every farmer in N.A. would go bankrupt.

Fact! corn yields in N.A. have gone up by 40% in the last 10 year. Mostly to do with new genetics and GM technology.

Over 90 % of the corn acres planted in my county this spring will be GM. Farmers aren't doing it because Monsanto forces them to. They plant GM seed because the yield and financial returns make sense. If farmers wanted to go conventional corn they would.

  • let's run a social experiment shall we, eat organic food for a month or two see how you feel, then eat just GMO food for the same amount of time and see you feel, do this on your animals too and see what happens... it does not take a scientist to figure out that tampering with nature (that has thousands of years of experience in survival) may have some nasty side effects. we can not "improve" nature by genetically altering something we don't fully understand ourselves! (we are a young species)

  • Holy shit, it's like they have no idea how genetics work!

    ...or agriculture

    ...or economics

  • GMO comsuption side effects: reading the comments below i would say GMO is already taking control of many people's brains and ability to understand that enslaving nature for profit and control can never give a good outcome for anyone and any earthing nor Nature as a whole.

  • These arguments against GMO r only arguments against Monsanto. And the only reason why monsanto is the only one making GMO is because the so called enviromentalist movement have made the saftey testings for GM crop r so expensive(far more expensive then any other technology used to produce new plants, whitout any scientific based reason) only comapnies like monsanto can afford them. Thats why almost all GMcrop is pesticide resistant, good companies would improve crop quality whit GM-tech.

  • moth-apple, rat-lettuce, spider-potatoes,corn-bacteria,cow-soy,sugarcane-cow,moth-apple, rat-lettuce, spider-potatoes,corn-bacteria,cow-soy,sugarcane-cow....... to make it look like more combinations...

  • this video is severely retarded, the only truth is that Monsanto has the monopoly. You know what happens when you eat roundup ready corn... the same thing as normal corn duh dun duhnnn.

  • Nature products are the best. Human being can't challenge the nature. Hates GM foods. Love Organic foods. I want to live healthy and happy with the nature, not with the articifically created things.

  • @Laxmi461 GM foods are organic... anything that's alive is organic. GM foods are not artifically: they only use genes that are created in nature, they don't create their own genes. You don't have a clear understanding of the definitions used in this video and in genetics.

  • @dummyhead3 Want some hardcore proof buddy? check out watch?v=Y8s98-zMH3Q Enough said.

  • I find this commercial hilarious for many reasons. Anyone notice the blatantly obvious attempt at manipulation towards the viewer? The constant demonization of the food industry with biohazard symbols and skulls placed haphazardly through out the video to condone a message that they are obviously evil and cause death. So funny. Honestly though, if anyone believes in this crap, do research on your own, don't listen to foolish media garbage like this.

  • This is a highly dishonest presentation.

  • Corn can produced its own pesticide? Yummy! I have a free-market solution. Labeling and let the consumer deside. But those same conservatives who claim to be for the "free market" are actually against that because they know GM will loose in the market place. The FDA even stops organic foods from labeling that they're GM free. I know that I won't be feeding my soon-to-be daughter GM foods.

  • @jteeselink - corn has always produced that pesticide, the GM allows it to produce it where it will deter the corn borrors and ear worms from chewing into the shank of the ear.

    Try to follow along please.

  • @CouldNotCareLes The GM also allows the pesticide to be expressed in the kernels(where humans are exposed to it) and the pollen(where honey bees, etc. are exposed to it).

  • @jteeselink Allelopathy is the ability some plants have to spread out chemicals to kill other plants. Its pretty common in nature.

  • Sorry but the person under me that commented is a dumbass. GMO 's are killing off everything all the toxic pesticides that the genetically modified plants resist are going to end up in the water supply not only is it a risk that we mix forign genes bettween species of animals and plants is dangerous to our health are water will be contaminated with naucius poisonous pesticides we don't know what biochemically will be wrong with our bodys systems if it's the thing's we eat, drink, or breathe we

  • GM foods are awesome, they can be: Cheaper to produce have a more reliable yield taste better and be more nutritious. Dont know why people get so wound up to be honest

  • @grandtheftgordon Your an idiot. Its because of people like you that have created the mess where in. Do us all a favour and refrain from opening your mouth.

  • The idea that there could be 152 DIS-likes to this video is Mind Boggling. The Mis-Education of America is sickening. Why don't any of those people who pressed 'dislike' have the courage to do some research and find out that they are dead wrong? Probably because they would then have to admit to themselves that they have been eating this crap for 10 years, and giving themselves all sorts of health issues, as well as helping to destroy the worlds food supply through their laziness and ignorance.

  • @mydogjesus Well said. Took the words right out of my mouth. Why aren't there more people like you. I cannot stand ignorance. I have done the research and like you said it is mind boggling that these people have the gaul to post comments about something they know nothing about. I seriously believe these people are eating processed and GM food and it is making them stupid. It must be damaging their brains. These people are responsible for killing our world. I hope they don't have kids.

  • As a gardener I have tried the corn offered as 'hybrid', and read how it outproduces older varieties. My hybrid corn grew barely 4-1/2 feet high and produced ears - one per stalk - only 5" to 6" long. It was a hybrid Golden Bantam - a once popular corn in the 50's.

Next two years I grew only Heirloom corn in the same place. Stalks grew past my roof top. Corn was delicious. Two ears per stalk - each ear 10" long.

So much more to say - 80 char left. Look up amino acid chain. Become informed.

  • And I really wonder.

Do the government and monsantos people eating GMO-food???

Wondering. Because they want to kill billions of people

  • GMO will lead to uncontrollable mutations and cancer.

Many million will die if this continues.

Or maybe many 100 of million people will die.

    Its biohazard weapons.

Words from a professor ive heard from.

  • Monsanto = Umbrella corporation. "Our business is life itself"

  • How is it legal to sell something that hasn't been tested? Outrage.

  • This was filled a lot of lies and half-truths. And they're saying the people who make GMO's are liars. Anyone reading this: LEARN ABOUT BOTH SIDES BEFORE YOU PICK ONE!

  • @crazyspacechick Can you please explain specifically what you mean by "This was filled a lot of lies and half-truths"? Please, go back in the comments and read the dozens of studies I posted that verify the huge majority of claims made in this video, before you respond. It is rather annoying to have to type dozens of security codes everytime somebody says this video is inaccurate.

  • @myndy86

    1) GMO's are tested more thoughoughly than traditionally cross-bred organisms. GMO's can't be sold if they even have a sliver of a chance of being an alergine. While a field of a new type of cross-bred celery ended up being poisonous and couldn’t be sold.

    2) There is a method of farming used where they use both GM corn (that emit natural chemicals to kill certain pests) mixed with regular corn so that the pests do not gain evolve and immunity.

  • @crazyspacechick 1) cont. All that is required for regulatory approval of a GM food is a 28 day - 90 day rodent trial done by the biotech company themselves, read the FDA regulations I already posted. If you went back in the comments and looked I posted a dozen or studies suggesting potential adverse affects in GM fed animals that are currently being sold for human consumption. GM crops pose more danger because they also use conventional breeding, so GM has additional risks.

  • @crazyspacechick 2) you are talking about refuges. However, the Bt corn breeds with the Non-Bt corn plantd in the refuges which allows pests to develop resistance to the Bt crops. "Variable Bt toxin production in seeds of refuge plants undermines the high-dose/refuge strategy and could accelerate pest resistance to Bt crops." ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC419639/

  • @myndy86

This means that they don’t have to use pesticides which are all over non-GM food.

    3) The foods’ not emitting poisons that will kill or even effect humans! Geez, nobody would be able to sell it otherwise! That should be obvious!!!!

    4) There are places like places in Mexico where the soil is too full of salt and aluminum to grow decent corn, while there is a type of GM corn that can grow there. Unfortunately it wasn’t even allowed to be field tested, so people are starving.

  • @crazyspacechick Bt corn itself is classified by the EPA as a plant-pesticide. 100% of Bt crops are supposed to express cry proteins, therefore 100% of Bt crops have pesticides all over them, compared to much less than 100% of conventionally bred crops having pesticides because farmers generally don't use pesticides when there isn't a pest, but Bt crops express cry without a pest.

    3) Bt affects humans and other mammals, maybe not kill them but there are immune responses.

  • @crazyspacechick 4) There is absolutely no way you are being serious. Mexico hasgrown corn for thousands of years, long before moder GM varieties of corn ever existed. I have actually been to Mexico and seen Non-GM corn growing, so I have no idea here you got that from.

  • @myndy86 Meanwhile in places in Africa, people are starving because of diseases that leave them with a shrunken food supply and poor economy. Even if we can and do send to those people, shipping costs extra money, and they wouldn’t be able to afford it since there source of income is usually… FARMING! And the reason you can find papayas on the store shelves are because they were able to add 1 GENE the made it resistant to a disease that was revenging that industry.

  • @crazyspacechick UN IAASTD"patents for transgenes introduces additional issues. • @crazyspacechick UN report Organic Agriculture and Food Security in Africa "Poverty is a major contributory factor to food security, organic farmers benefit from (i)cash savings, as organic farming precludes the need to purchase synthetic pesticides and fertilisers; (ii)extra incomes gained by selling the surplus produce(resulting from the change to organic); (iii)premium prices for certified organic produce, obtained primarily in Africa for export but also for domestic markets"

  • @crazyspacechick "Organic farming can lead to increased food production–in many cases a doubling of yields has been seen""crop yield increase was even higher for these projects:116 per cent increase for all African projects and 128 per cent increase for the projects in East Africa"These findings are backed up by studies from Asia and Latin America that concluded that organic farming can reduce poverty in an environmentally friendly way." unctad.org/en/docs/ditcted200715_en.pdf

  • @crazyspacechick THERE ALREADY IS A NON-GM PAPAYA MADE THROUGH CONVENTIONAL BREEDING THAT IS RESISTANT TO RINGSPOT FUNGUS! springerlink"dot"com/content/48t805l7w7564288

Unlike the main variety of GM papaya which is not resistant to blackspot fungus, the conventionally bred ringspot fungus resistant papaya is also more resistant to blackspot fungus. Also papaya sales dropped shortly after the GM papaya was introduced and only recently has began to recover.

  • @myndy86 5) EVERY SINGLE FARMER HAS THE CHOICE AS TO IF THEY WANT TO GROW GM PRODUCTS OR NOT!

    6) The day humans started agriculture we’ve been creating genetically modified organisms. It was known better then as “cross-breeding.” These GMO’s created in a lab are more precise and less intrusive to the organisms over-all structure.

It’s about as dangerous as eating DNA (which is in everything we eat except raw sugar)

  • @crazyspacechick 5) NO, EVERY FARMER DOES NOT HAVE THE CHOICE TO NOT GROW GM CROPS! ORGANIC FARMING RESEARCH FOUNDATION, 4th National Organic Farmers Survey, Of the 17% of organic farms tested for GMO contamination "11% of those who have had GMO testing done recieved a positive test result." ofrf.org/policy/biotechnology/4thsurveyGMOs.pdf

Organic farmers are being forced to grow GM crops against their will!

  • @crazyspacechick 6) Cross & selective breeding is NOT GMO"definitions are used by agencies that regulate genetically modified organisms (GMO's)""guidelines issued by USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, genetic engineering is defined as the genetic modification of organisms by recombinant DNA techniques (7CFR340: 340.1).""Recombinant DNA techniques (DNA formed by combining segments of DNA from different organisms)" ers.usda.gov/briefing/biotechnology/glossary.htm

  • @crazyspacechick GMO's are almost always already conventionally bred and then recombinant DNA techniques, knockout genes, etc. are used. So, to say "more precise and less intrusive to the organisms over-all structure." is just false. GMO's have more changes to their structure because of the additional techniques. You said "It’s about as dangerous as eating DNA (which is in everything we eat except raw sugar)" There are plenty of poisonous plants, etc. that contain DNA.

  • @crazyspacechick Hows it choice if a neighbour farm cross polinates your fields??? And the shit soaking into groundwater and contaminating surrounding areas?? Are you really that dumb or just acting?

  • @myndy86 This video is using fear-tactics rather than outright full double-sided information that allows people to make a well-educated choice.

If anyone wants to keep arguing, then go right ahead, just don’t expect me to respond because I’ve got better things to do.

Research both sides before you decide.

  • @crazyspacechick Maybe you should "Research both sides before you decide." You made a lot of claims without any evidence to back them up. I provided several studies just now in response to your comments and I posted many more throughout the comments for this video. If you would like more studies, I can provide them as well. Several of the possibilities mentioned in this video have now occurred, such as resistant pests, weeds, etc., that isn't a fear, it is a reality.

  • @myndy86 what genetic field do you specialize in?

  • @Mensanuel I don't have a degree in a field of genetics. My degrees are in Food and Nutrition as well as Physiology.

  • GMO's scare me! watch my funny baby's opinion on GMO's on my channel!

  • I'm scared...... Very scared. Organic produce here I come. Plus doesnt some gm food contain steroids?

  • @MrCONORTHEBOSS gm food contains tons of bullshit that we dont know of lol, theres nothing wrong with organic, no one can argue against traditional growth of food its what nature started with. good choice

  • I have nothing against genetic engineering itself, but Monsanto gives it a bad name. The idea that Genetically Engineered crops are going to be bad for humans just because they're GM is absurd. But patenting seeds, that's definitely wrong.

  • /watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tIvNopv9Pa8

  • GM engineers take the crops that produced the most food, that resisted the cold the and the ones that bloomed the fastest, these men and women who work are not on a vendetta to kill and cause untold misery to the masses, they want to help people, feed the people who have no food, so unless you go to bed every night with an empty stomach and spend your days searching for scraps of food, don't tell others how to live their lives.

look up Norman Borlaug, you've never heard of him,but you should have

  • @stoofer97 Commercially available GE crops do not generally produce more food, resist the cold, or bloom the fastest. The most common commercially available GE crops were designed to be sprayed with synthetic herbicides or produce their own pesticides. UN report IAASTD, by 400 scientists, concluded GE crops can potentially increase hunger and poverty in poor countries. Borlaug was not a GE researcher and he passed away at the time this new research about GE crops was emerging.

  • @myndy86 Did you not get what i was trying to say?

What i was saying is that these foods wouldn't be sold if they had the potential to cause harm or death. If (and by if i mean hypothetically speaking) these foods where proven a million percent safe and had NO CHANCE what so ever to damage the environment in ANY way, would you allow them to be sold?Science is the practice to make lives better through technology and i see no reason why these foods shouldn't be used to help starving people be fed.

  • @stoofer97 Many drugs sold in the U.S. were believed not to have any potential harm, yet some of those same drugs have been proven to cause harm. Drugs undergo 3 phases of studies including human studies on hundreds of people and must be approved by an independent panel. GE foods undergo one test which is a 28-90 day rodent trial, and no human trials and no approval by an independent panel. If drugs that are tested more than GE food can still cause harm, the less tested GE foods can as well.

  • The genes used in GM foods are genes taken from the best crops with the best properties.

Say you have 3 flowers, all the same. All 3 flowers grow but they all grow to different heights and you think the taller ones will live longer, so what do you do? you pollinate the two Flowers that grew the tallest together. That is Genetic engineering. you have taken the best qualities from the best plants and mated them to create better ones whilst eliminating the bad qualities, which is all GM crops do

  • @stoofer97 That is not genetic engineering, that is selective breeding. Here is the USDA definition of Genetic Engineering "under guidelines issued by USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, genetic engineering is defined as the genetic modification of organisms by recombinant DNA techniques (7CFR340: 340.1)." "Recombinant DNA techniques (DNA formed by combining segments of DNA from different organisms)" ers.usda.gov/briefing/biotechnology/glossary.htm

  • Please may i state a few facts?

GM foods do NOT contain animal genes, that's stupid, the very idea that the genes of two COMPLETELY different types of life and cell could be "fused" together is just stupid! The only time animal genes are EVER placed in plants is to test them and see how they react in a different environment and no, a cell or a gene for that fact is not life, it is a small component, many fresh vegetables have live cells, you don't mind eating them.

  • @stoofer97 The 2 most common GE crops(RR and Bt) contain DNA from bacteria. Even segments of human DNA have been combined with rice and dairy cows. The GE rice is currently being grown in the U.S. and the manufacturer has applied for human consumption approval, these aren't experiments these are crops and animals the manufacturers have already got or intend to get approval for human consumption for. I'm guessing you got your info from magicians who get paid to trick you?

  • Comment removed

  • nice try green peace but I think I'll stick to my tasty gm foods.

  • UGH i see a monsanto "food of thought" vid on the related total bs

  • I live in Kansas and I can't figure out how to get seeds. Can you help me. I'm a total dumbass...

  • Fear mongering at it's finest. Saying "well how do you know that GM doesn't cause problems?" isn't a valid argument. That's an argument from ignorance, a logical fallacy. Besides, genetic engineering is actually helping to deal with world hunger, unlike Greenpeace, rather than just complaining about every new idea. For example, the development of nutritionally enhanced transgenic potatoes, or "golden rice". This comes from someone getting a BS in Molecular Biology.

  • @anythreeletters It is valid. Science requires the precautionary principle to be used, if there isn't enough testing then there is no way to ensure safety and that would be anti-science. There is more than enough food currently produced to feed the world without using GE crops. UN report IAASTD suggests GE foods have very little potential to alleviate hunger or poverty and can potentially increase hunger and poverty in poor countries, where most hunger and poverty occur.

  • @anythreeletters Polished rice(which is what Golden rice was made for) may be linked to increases in diabetes. nih.gov/researchmatters/june2010/06282010diabetes.htm

Conventional breeding has already created nutrient enhanced crops(quality protein maize, orange maize, orange flesh sweet potato, etc.) without the additional risks of GE, and most studies suggest organic farming itself increases nutrient content in food. Why use GM food when there are cheaper, less risky alternatives?

  • Anti-GM campaigning makes more legislation against new GM crops. More legislation=less success of small companies which means more success for Monsanto.

  • The sensationalisation of GM food is an unfounded one- we have tampered with the genetics of all crops for thousands of years by selecting the best cereal crops. Applied GM does not alter the DNA of plants in an any more dangerous way than this does.

If anyone thinks it is possible to buy food whose DNA has not been altered by human intervention they are wrong. Every cereal crop and livestock animal on the planet has been changed genetically by human means for thousands of years. GM is essential

  • @chrispaisey Almost all GE crops have already been conventionally bred, so GE crops have almost all of the same dangers as conventionally bred crops and generally more dangers such as antibiotic resistant markers, virus promoters, agrobacterium, etc. GE crops are not essential, more than enough food to feed the world is currently produced, without GE!

  • @chrispaisey Well said!

  • Interestingly, they do not want it labeled on our food. And.....they do not fully know the implications of dicing all these viruses and bacteriums. mutation prone!!

  • Interestingly, they do not want it labeled on our food.

  • omg i didnt realise how many pro-peace hippies and fools think they actually know things about GM crops till reading these anti-GM crop comments

  • One can alter/change the human DNA by feeding the body with altered DNA food!

In time, the human DNA can be changed by that genetically modified food because the human body is constantly regenerating and the main basis for this process is the "fuel"/food on wich the electro-biological-chemical computer called HUMAN BODY functions!

That's why those who CAN do changes to any DNA will do so, and no one knows for sure if those changes are for good or evil purposes! My opinion is that is for EVIL ones!

  • @gabigowriel You sir are grossly ill-informed.

  • @rampage241 yea right, FUCK YOU TOO SON OF A BITCH!

  • @gabigowriel Do you have evidence to back up your claim that eating altered food will alter human dna or do you just have insults and no proof?

  • @rampage241 "GM food: tasty DNA? In February's Nature Biotechnology, Trudy Netherwood and colleagues show that microbes in the small intestine of people with a gastrointestinal pathology can acquire and harbour DNA sequences from GM plants." nature.com/nature/view/040226.html

There is also plenty of evidence that eating some GE foods alters gene expression.

  • @myndy86

Bacteria easily take up new genes on an almost constant basis. In other words, they would take up these new genes anyway.

  • @anythreeletters These are antibiotic resistant marker genes, cry proteins, virus promoters, etc. Eventually bacteria may take up some of this DNA but we rarely consume most of this and usually in small quantities, so it would take a long time for intestinal flora to even be exposed to most of this DNA, so HGT is less likely to occur. If it did occur, it would be on a small scale and easier to deal with than introducing this in virtually every staple crop that people regularly consume.

  • @rampage241 I don't have to prove anything to you; you're just another SON OF A BITCH that is PAYED to promote genetically engineered "food" , excuse me, genetically engineered weapons of mass destruction stealth and easy to administrate to humans!

The world has been JUST FINE WITHOUT GENETICALLY ENGINEERED "FOOD"/POISON!

SO PLEASE , DO GO FUCK YOURSELF BECAUSE I HAVE ALLREADY LOST WAAAY TOO MUCH TIME WITH A SCUMBAG LIKE YOU!

I SINCERELY HOPE YOU BURN FOREVER IN HELL FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING NOW!

  • Genetic engineering and nanotehnology are the "tools" af Antichrist by their nature:

with these tools GOD's creation can be "descifered" , altered and eventually destroyed!

The key to this is the DNA; this is the "software" on wich the life is created!

Alter/modify this and you decid who lives and who dies!

It's like adding a virus to a computer software:

the software doesn't realises that the virus is not a part of the program and so the viruse grow undisturbed!

You can do good but also evil!

  • the world is a pile of bullshit. The world revolves around lies. Very sad the world was better off long ago. Something has to wipe us out before we wipe the world out. Most of us do not deserve to live here or live at all. Most humans are monsters ,killing everything and anything, hoarding and eating everything all the time, wasting so much food water ect, nothing but selfish greedy distructive monsters

  • @zeddtbear I used to think like you, then I realised I was being a dumbass!

  • @zeddtbear says the man on his nice computer.

  • I used to like Greenpeace but this video just changed my mind...

  • @wei495 why? Are you not concerned with what you're putting in your mouth?

  • @fetymann Do you not want humanity to progress?

  • We humans did this centuries ago but now we know what we're doing so it's faster and safer. I don't see how genetic engineering is bad, it would solve so many food problems and increase nutrition. There's now a new type of rice which is yellow because it has so many nutrients.

  • @wei495 Golden Rice cost over $100,000,000 to produce. Do you know how many lives could have been saved using $100 million for supplements or to grow foods rich in beta carotene? Conventional breeding has already created nutrient enhanced crops like Orange Maize, High Beta Carotene Tomatoes, Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato, etc., and most studies suggest organic farming itself increases nutrient content in food. So, why use GE food when there are cheaper, less risky alternatives?

  • @wei495 Polished rice(what Golden rice was made for) may be linked to increases in diabetes. nih.gov/researchmatters/june2010/06282010diabetes.htm

Africans may already be more prone to diabetes. diabetes.diabetesjournals. org/content/52/4/1047.short

Unpolished rice has beta carotene and other nutrients and may decrease risk of diabetes. So, why give Africans $100,000,000 polished GE rice and maybe increase diabetes, instead of high beta carotene crops and unpolished rice they already have?

  • @wei495 Not true. Genetic Enginering means transfering genes across the species barrior. As for solving problems, how can patenting seeds, and expanding the profit margins of the mutl-nationals really help the food crisis? re neutriants, a ballanced diet proves all we need without GM !

  • @ironjohnlad Do you have a mobile phone, a computer, gas, electric, TV, do you shop at supermarkets and megastores? These things wouldn't exist without larger companies, so if you really feel that way go back to living in a forest. Of late the balance has become upset and large companies have too much of the money supply, but without economically driven innovation and the desire to progress we'd still be living in small tribes trying to master the art of fire.

  • This is a great educational video. My professor actually showed us this in class and it really sumed up the whole section of the book

  • Is this video based on any studies or researches? If that's the case, could such sources be made available so that we can check them?

  • @Orlox44 If you go back in the comments a few months I provided a dozen or more peer reviewed studies that support the majority of statements in this video. Youtube doesn't allow links in the comments so you may have to put the qoutes from the studies in an internet search engine like Google to find the links, if you can not find the studies using the links I provided, which were slightly changed(like missing the h t t p : / / w w w .) to get youtube to accept them.

  • It takes about 7 years to breed crops conventionally and a matter of months to genetically engineer crops with better draught resistance and better nutritional value, how do you suppose you insert vitamins and minerals into crop species that dont naturally have any traces of the desired nutrients? All of those "peer reviewed" articles are made up, follow the links. There nothing. Of course GM plants increase yields and decrease cost input, why else would they exist? This is just complete lies.

  • @MrCockSlut None of the peer reviewed studies I gave are made up and I encourage anyone to look at the links yourself. Numerous conventionally bred crops already on the market have better drought resistance and/or better nutritional value, not a single GE crop that I am aware of that is drought resistant or has better nutritional value has been approved for commercial use. GE exists because it is now difficult to buy conventional seeds due to GE contamination, which has driven the cost up.

  • @MrCockSlut lies?? yeah, it's Monsanto that's telling the lies! FDA scientists had their jobs threatened because they spoke about the problems with GMOs.

    watch: /watch?v=joweZ6uM5iY

  • right you fucking idiot it's not the plants it's them chemicals there is nothing about the GMO its self. Start protesting the use of the herbicides and insecticides but penalize one of the greatest possible applications of science for it.

  • @donniesview LMAO! You must be projecting! I already posted studies suggesting at least some GMO's themselves cause adverse affects. Please, take the time to read the studies before you comment. Also the two most common varieties of GE crops are designed to be herbicide resistant or produce an insecticide. So, basically what you are saying is we should eliminate the huge majority of GE crops and only keep a very small fraction of GE crops.

  • @donniesview The pesticieds herbicides etc. are spliced into the plants.

  • onlinelibrary.wiley"dot"com/doi/10.1002/jat.1319/abstract this link dosnt even exist. Actually look into the science of genetic engineering people, when you fully understand it, as i do. When you understand it you wont be brainwashed by confused propaganda like this. GM crops such as Bt cotton actually reduce the amount of sprays needed by about 80%. Green peace are the main reason that plants with better nutritional value (golden rice) and drought resistat crops arnt available to poor.

  • @MrCockSlut The link exists, change the "dot" to a . youtube doesn't allow links. Bt cotton itself is considered a pesticide so it does nothing to reduce overall pesticide use. In fact Bt sprays do not persist in the environment as long as Bt crops which also have very high levels of cry proteins when grown in high nitrogen soils. Bt pollen itself contains cry proteins and therefore causes antibody responses in non-target animals, changes feeding habits of honeybees, etc.

  • @myndy86 Bt cotten works by containing a slightly acidic crystall that naturally occurs in soil bacteria "bacillus thuringiensis" which highly specifically targets the alkaline stomach of the corn borer pest and kills them. Other methods of killing the pest are to spray the fields with copious amounts of insecticide.

  • @MrCockSlut Bt crops almost always still require spraying with pesticides. Studies suggest the huge majority of Bt crops don't express any cry proteins, making them worthless and possibly explaining why Bt cotton crops performed poorly in many parts of India. "A number of experiments on developing transgenics in cotton with different versions of cry1Ac gene showed that the majority of the plants did not express any Cry1Ac protein." pubget.com/paper/21654089

  • Respond to this video... So in that study after 30 days both sets of mice where equally healthy?

  • @MrCockSlut 30 days in mice translates to about 3 years in humans. So, if this applies to humans it could affect pancreas function for 3 years or more.

  • @myndy86 Wow you are bad at math. As the pancreas size increases the effect of some chemical on it is LESS. There are more factors you have to know. If a dog got fed chocolate it would become seriously ill but you wouldn't.

  • @wei495 You are forgetting cumulative body burden. Wow you are bad at reading comprehension, I said "if this applies to humans" we don't know if this will affect humans the same way. However, your statement is an argument AGAINST GE regulations, because human trials are NOT usually required as part of the GE regulation process and 90 day(or less) rodent studies are used to determine safety. So by your argument GE foods aren't safe unless they are tested on humans and we know all the factors!

  • @MrCockSlut Polished rice(what Golden rice was made for) may be linked to increases in diabetes. nih.gov/researchmatters/june2010/06282010diabetes.htm

Africans may already be more prone to diabetes. diabetes.diabetesjournals. org/content/52/4/1047 .short Unpolished rice has beta carotene and other nutrients and may decrease risk of diabetes. Why give Africans $100,000,000 polished GM rice and maybe increase diabetes, instead of unpolished rice and other crops they already have for Vit A?

  • @MrCockSlut You said "Green peace are the main reason that plants with better nutritional value (golden rice) and drought resistat crops arnt available to poor." Numerous nutrient enhanced and drought tolerant conventionally bred crops are available, like Orange Maize, Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato, High Beta Carotene Tomato, Quality Protein Maize, Drought tolerant maize, Nerica Rice, Drought tolerant soy, and dozens of other varieties that do not have the additional risks of GE crops.

  • Ignorant propaganda.

  • this is a joke right? there isn't any danger in G.E crops or foods but there are some serious problems with chemical insecticides. Look genetic engineering is nothing but a slight change in DNA taken from another organism and transplanted into a useful one like corn or soy. There proven resistance to insects and herbicides alone would create a net higher yield of crop. Get a real education about this stuff before you say it makes people sterile, ignorant people some times...

  • @donniesview I can keep going, and I haven't even quoted studies on environmental and economic impact like contamination, pest resistance, herbicide resistance, non-target species, etc. Let's look at your argument "there are some serious problems with chemical insecticides." You didn't include chemical herbicides but I assume you meant to. The huge majority of GE crops commercially available were designed to be herbicide tolerant, so they are sprayed with chemical herbicides!

  • Propaganda...

  • Wow, I had no idea there was so much irresponsibility being performed by genetic engineering companies. I'm in college now and I'm on the path to becoming a bioengineer, so this almost puts me off. Only problem is...it's not the genetic engineering that's the problem; it's the big companies being irresponsible about how they do things and lying about success in cases of failure so they can keep going. But that doesn't mean GE should be ceased entirely. It should still be legit in controlled labs

  • We are learning more and more about the effects on Humans and animals and it doesn't look good.. Disease is up by 32% in the U.S alone and the only major difference is an on-slot of GMOs into our food supply and the animals we eat food supply. GMOs have also caused sterility in lad animals! So choose wisely!

  • What they don't want you to know is that gmos caused cancer in the majority of the lab rats they tested it on. But now if they didn't infect us all, how would the drug companies make money? And does anyone realize that monsanto is sueing small farmers who are completely innocent? If we dont all use our right if free speech and stand up to monsanto, they're going to kill us. Save the Earth. Save it's People. Post this as your twitter, facebook or other status and help the battle against monsanto.

  • Farmers in general are the ones who need to weigh up their options. What really needs to be asked is to dispel rumours around GM food and settle the dispute about it, is if a INDEPENDENT lab did an independent study of the long and short term effects of GM food consumption and then produced a study with conclusive results to settle the score once and for all. There needs to be an answer and proper investigation! Instead of a corporate-sponsored propaganda machine. It needs to be impartial.

  • Genetic engineering when done correctly and well tested is the answer you can not mess up genetics because then you mess up every thing these things must be done right and safely before they are released

  • Hi, Greenpeace. I am a teenager from Hong Kong. I am about to go to a European university to study science. Just guess what course I'm taking.

    Peace out.

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93 Sucking profesors dick?

  • @Voodoozeko

Emmm.... no, genetic engineering. I am hoping to contributing an effort in creating crops that could grow in arid environments or prolong human longevity by another century.

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93 Ah yes a brave new world where nobody will sufer from diarrhea and we will all have long cocks.

  • @Voodoozeko

    And what's wrong with that?

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93 Probably nothing. But i tell you this my friend. You people will develop this new genetic plants that will be resistant to many diseases and others things but you will see that after a time new diseases that will be even worse than now will develope and your work will be worthless. You cant force nature in something that isnt natural. Natural order always demands a certain cost. Problem in modern farming is that they dont rotate crops enough instead they fertilize too much.

  • @Voodoozeko

Sure. We can't stop evolution, but we do our best to keep up with it. If it wasn't for scientists who work intensely to develop medication to combat new diseases and geneticists who alter our food to be able to resist new diseases, stay one step behind the game, more people would had died from starvation and pestilence. Our work is not worthless, it is worth everything for a future where Humanity would be free from sickness and hunger.

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93 If GMO's are so safe and "free from sickness" why does Monsanto need to buy it's way into the FDA? Just because politicians look for campaign hand outs from Monsanto in exchange for appointing their lobbyist to positions like food czars and federal judges doesn't make it safe.

I cant just avoid them in the store because Monsanto spends so much money destroying my freedom to choose what poisons my family is exposed to. UnAmerican Multinational Corporatist.

  • @Voodoozeko

I will be frank though, when it comes to 'can't force nature in something that isn't natural', it's always been like that. There will always be people who will be so glad to force nature to their bidding, all with good reasons. After all, what is human history, other than Man's overcoming of the hostile environment by their strength and mind? If humanity haven't done that, we would still be living in caves, always be preyed on by hunger and death everyday when we could had it all.

  • @TheVoiceOfReason93 People living in caves is historic misconception. Caves were mostly used as a burial place! Anyway pests and diseases always get accustomed to our remedies very quickly so its a worthless fight. Old style farming with crop rotation, culling, cover crops etc is the answer. Modern monocultural farming with synthetic fertilizers and GMO's is made for lazy ass farmers and its resoults will be even worser pests and diseases as now becouse they will adapt to GMO's soon.

  • @Voodoozeko But can "old style" farming feed the world in 2050.

  • @MrCockSlut If done correctly it can. Yields are pretty much the same there is slightly bigger yield in "new" style but considering the imact that "new" style has on soil destruction i think it is not worth the risk. There are many farms in Poland for example which can no longer be used for farming becouse of exhausted land.

The only problem with old style is that you need to work more, becouse you use so many different crops and other plants on your farm.

  • @ronimacarroni 52% of organic farms use no pesticides and studies suggest organic farming generally reduces the chance of pest infestation. Conventionally bred pest resistant crops that do not contain proteins with insecticidal properties and are not classified as pesticides, also exist. A combination of native crops already resistant to pests, conventionally bred pest resistant crops and organic farming, would have less harmful environmental impacts than GM Bt crops.

  • @ronimacarroni GM pest resistant crops such as BT crops are actually classified as pesticides, because they produce proteins that have insecticidal effects. There are studies that suggest Bt crops may have an adverse environmental impact on non-target organisms(honey bees, etc.) as well as on soil bacteria. Inhaling proteins from Bt crops may also have an antibody reaction in various organisms as well. Along with other potential environmental factors.

  • The whole point of making pest resistant strains is so that farmers will not have to use pesticide and pollute the environment.

  • THANK-YOU!

I was hoping someone would put together a

short piece that was clear and concise; you

    covered all the basics beautifully.

    Thank-you so much.

  • Take this with a grain of salt. If you are really interested and want to express your opinion on it do some research.

  • 0:30 - total bullshit, the effects are made to be understood using the scientific method.

0:57 - this is propaganda, they are using the toxic waste symbol for the GE plants? And a skull for the Monsanto plant?

1:23 - this is true for some plants, but many GE plants such at Bt Cotton have much higher yields.

  • @andrewyaoauatauabaea GE foods have been shown to lead to organ failure, sterilization, increase in toxins, allergies, new diseases and nutritional problems. Look into Jeffery Smith
