First wave of deportation started in 1941 june 14 (in Lithuania) and lasted until Germany attacked ssrs. Second wave was from 1944 to 1954. 155,796 lithuanians were deported, 32,000 of them - CHILDREN. Untill 1958 20,000 people died, 5000 of them children. After 1958 some of aurvivers were free to go, but it was forbiden to return to their homecountry.
Only about 10,000 managed to get back to Lithuania.
My maths teacher was sent to siberia with her family when she was 7 years old. She also had a sister, 3 years old, which died in Siberia.

First wave of deportation started in 1941 june 14 (in Lithuania) and lasted until Germany attacked ssrs. Second wave was from 1944 to 1954. 155,796 lithuanians were deported, 32,000 of them - CHILDREN. Untill 1958 20,000 people died, 5000 of them children. After 1958 some of aurvivers were free to go, but it was forbiden to return to their homecountry.

I guess their love for Hitler came before love for Poland. Not all Latvians were Nazis, but of course Waffen SS volunteers would have been strongly pro Nazi.
