  • i love young dandilion leaves with white vinigar and salt or a vinnigerette. i guess a salad dressing would work just fine to. iv also mixed them with spinach there very high in iron i belive

  • LOL if you soak the leaves in water for a couple of hours before eating them the bitterness will be removed. It also helps if you use a touch of vinegar that actually turns them sweet ! Otherwise I'd leave them as a Pot Herb. Oh BTW The World Food Bank Ranks Dandelions at number four on the most nutritious edible plants !

  • Isn't one of those the false dandelion?....I've found some that are also kind of fuzzy leaves are those dandelions too? Thanks!

  • I just pissed the bed :(

  • I eat them all the time. They're free, very good for you and have all the essential amino acids. You can live on that shit and people are digging them up and throwing them away :P

  • When I was a kid I'd be in the yard in the Spring (before they bud and get bitter with that milky sap) digging up tons of them. We'd steam them and eat them with salt and vinegar. DEEEEEElicious. My grandmother made a clear, yellowish wine from the flowers.

Around here we also get leeks and chives, plus tons of wild berries and nuts.

  • they are a natural diuretic,we used to call them "Pee the bed" in Ireland.

  • do u ever go out in to the woods for a day or to and just live of this traps and so on

  • it is a diuretic - so the ol saying may be right.

  • That knife is the best! I can't believe how well it cuts through that root!

  • I'll have to try chopping up dandelion with hot peppers. Maybe hot plus bitter will taste OK.

  • lol rabbits eats that shit and i eat the rabbits XD.

  • for lunch today i boiled the leaves drained the water into a cup for sum tea (with a teaspoon of sugar it was pretty nice) with the leaves seasoned wit salt n pepper put it on toast lol was a good feed also free lol cheers mate keep the vids comin alot of ppl appreciate em

  • A dog of mine used to go nuts over these and if left alone in the garden would dig them up from the lawn with great enthusiasm to eat the root straight away. After about four he got a bit frantic so I would stop him. I think there be some mind-bending properties in them when raw. Is it any wonder there would be a warning attatched to them?

  • Thanks for the good vid. I have always heard you could eat dandelions. You are the first I have seen eat them. I am going out in the yard and eat some.

    Thanks again!

  • Thanks for the vid. I have always heard you can eat dandelions but you are the first I have seen eat them. I'm going to go out in the yard and eat some,

    Thanks again!

  • hilarious comment at the end

  • Dandelions contain a diuretic, so peeing the bed may be more than an old wives tale. Much tastier & plentiful in the UK are Hawthorn leaves, esp, the young, paler leaves.

  • can also make coffe from the root

  • Good job mate. I eat clovers and pine needles. Clovers taste like leafy kiwi. Pine needles are kind of lemony and have lots of vitamin c...sure you know all this

  • very little nutritional value

  • You dont know shit, you cock-hugger. Dandelions are one of the most nutritious plants in existence! Anyways back to the vid-- It depends where you obtain your dandelions, the soil they grow in ultimately decides how tasty they are. I always eat dandelions from my backyard, they taste just fine to me! They taste far better cooked. Of course my backyard is high-quality soil...

  • dude nice im deffinately subscribing keep it up

  • brilliant vid keep them comeing

  • dandilion is one of the most common edible plants in any situation, and in almost any place on earth, but... it tastes horrible, worsee than just "bitter". the experts say eat the young leaves... but theyre still not too good. im not saying "dont eat them", i do quite often along with many other wild plants ive learned over the years, im just telling everyone that it has a horrible taste so the first time you try it youre not expecting a yummy salad lettuce.

    peace

  • i have those all over! upstate new york

  • Dandelion's make you piss the bed that's childhood fact.

  • hasent ur mom ever tell u not to peel at ur roots?

  • haha your so suttle i like it :)

  • my one worry about dandilions in the USA is: how can u tell if they have been sprayed with poison?

  • If you grow them in your yard then you know whether you sprayed them or not.

  • @Teratornis I live in an apartment so I don't have that option.

  • Do you have ramps in your hardwood bushes. They are like garlic like bulbs

  • Yeah i have those same dandelions and i was wonder why the different leaves.. but the round one seems to taste better .

i think dandelions taste like swis chard wich is kinda nasty too.

  • lol good video...they taste like shit and if you eat them you will piss yourself bwuahaha lol love it

  • they are alot less bitter if you pik them before they bloom....also the flowers are good fried in batter and u can dry and bake the roots and gring them to use like coffee grounds

  • hahaha its very bitter...and you keep eating it.

ya but anyway they put those in salad i think...

  • Bear grylls.

  • better than bear grylls

  • He has nothing on Bear.

  • hahaha youll piss the bed thats funny im try it

  • Nice1 Malc.

Have you ever tried Dandelion Flower Fritters? There really nice, Made a batch last night. Good savory or even sweet with a bit of Maple syrup in the batter

  • mmmm sounds delicious

  • Ha ha ha!!

  • @Ollieboyz the flower I find gives loves of energy!

  • nice. they're kind of bitter, but super nutritious. And healthful, as a medicine in various ways. Plus, the flowers are rather sweet tasting, I eat them raw, but there's ways of cooking them too, I think people make dandelion fritters out of them, or something.

  • are you able to eat the yellow flowers?

  • yes, hi malc ,the old wives tale actuallty has some truth to it,the dandelion is commonly used to clean kidneys in herbal medicine,it is also an antihistamine for mozzy bites and midge bites.

  • I love them, in spring you can make a delicious salad, just use dandelion leaves, maybe some hardboiled eggs add some salt and some tasty oil like pumpkin seed oil, it tastes great!

and what exactly do you say at

    2:58-3:03?

    sorry cant understand u

  • there is on old wives tale saying, if you eat dandilions , that night you,ll piss your bed

  • thats because the are an uretrative or wtf the word was :d

like alcohol and caffeïne , they make u piss

around here the slang for them is pissflower

  • @johnjayrambo11111 Hey john i too have herd that but there is a little truth in it as the plant is a diuretic, which means it makes the bladder produce more urine. So don't have too many beers and eat Dandelions, bad combo lol. Love the vids mate, keep up the good work.

  • for some people that don't like the bitter taste...you can boil the leaves and roots and change the water each time to get rid of the bitter taste

and i think the younger leaves are less bitter than the larger, old ones

awesome video...i laughed when you ate it with a blank face and talked about the "piss in bed" .........lol

  • can you eat the other one you showed there?

are they both the same plant or is one toxic?

you didn't say anything about the other one you showed, just the one you were eating?

4/5 because you didn't talk about the other plants.

  • its just the same plant but with rounded leaves ,you can eat roots ,leaves ,and the flowers

  • Great video, we got tons of those where I live in Toronto, Canada and where I camp up north. This will be very useful in the future. Thanks.

  • Hi malk, i know they eat dandelions in italy, we use to put it in a salad with tomatos and onions, they call it "pisacan" in a small part of italy (dilect italian) and it means, "dog piss" you can see why, lol

    Tom

  • ha ha ha ha thats brilliant

  • Nice, I've been meaning to make some dandelion wine when I get round to collecting some

  • I enjoyed this video, especially what you tell us at the end!!

  • glad you liked it

  • lol "no i didn't piss the bed"

  • Hi Malc,
