  • OMG Garrett and Hunter - you are both so brave you give new meaning to the word HERO. My wish for you both is that a cure is found as soon as possible to improve the quality of your lives. Sending you both a big hug.

  • Wow! Hunter is awesome! i will never complain about zits in my face ever again

  • I adore Hunter and think that we all could learn many things from such an amazing young woman. She is a wonderful role model and should be a public speaker! ;-)

  • She is awesome!!!!!

  • Hunter is incredible

  • i think that she should become a scientist she seems really smart and i think she would have fun

  • Hunter is awesome, i wish i could meet her.

  • Garrett has the prettiest eyes

  • what a sin :( poor children! and to think they're not the only ones and some people don't have help for these things. God Bless.

  • Hunter is such a brave girl and is very mature for her age!

  • i appreciate everything that she said.. but it seems a little too scripted for a 14 year old to come up with on her own. i realize that because of her skin disorder, she has the maturity that well exceeds a typical 14 year old because she had many obstacles to overcome, but some of the sayings and lines that she says seem to be coming from a well educated adult.. like a national geographic producer.

  • Hunter is a trooper. She's incredible and beautiful.

  • K, I DEFINITELY don't want to sound insensitive, but would being IN water help Hunter at all? Like if she went swimming all the time would that help at all? Just wondering! Seriously, please don't misinterpret me as being callous. :)

  • It kills me knowing that people would whisper and make fun of her. She didn't ask for this- she is better and more intelligent than most people she really doesn't deserve any nasty comments. i feel her pain. I respect her so much that she tries hard with her work and never gives up! shes excellent

  • These kids have such high spirits, it's beautiful.

  • I feel so sorry for little Garret, it must be awful to be in such pain all the time. I cried from a nasty blister so I just can't imagine what he's going through. And what the future holds for him...I really don't wanna sound mean at all but what kind of life can you lead when covered in bandages from head to toe ?...I hope he'll keep fighting but that's a lot to bear for a single human being :(

  • poor babys may god bless yall...

  • Being the mother of a child with severe EB, like Garret's, I can say first hand that it's one of the most horrific and heart-breaking disorders you will ever see. The physical, financial and emotional strain it puts on a family is overwhelming. I can tell you that these children smile, but they are suffering unimaginable pain every single moment of their lives and we mothers forge ahead because it is our instinct to "make it all better," or in EB, at least make an attempt at it. Thank you.

  • My brother has a different type of ichthyosis. It is a very painful and horrible disease. Everyday is a stuggle. My brother was 17 years old and his feet hurt so bad I would carry him around school and around the house bc of cracks and bleeding. I'm glad this little girl is accepting of this and it isn't bringing her down.

  • Hunter is so beautiful!

  • This girl is an inspiration......

  • i feel bad for kids like garrett, i mean he must be suffering, why dont they think of what he wants?

  • poor garrett, he looks and sounds like such a sweet kid, my heart breaks for him, because he doesnt really have a chance, i bet Hunter will surpass what the doctors think, go hunter :)

  • I can't believe I found humanity on youtube. Good luck to those kids and their families

  • Hunter is incredibly mature.

  • Hunter is amazing :)

  • I love the parents, especially Garrett's mom. She wraps him every single day or whenever and doesn't complain. I am amazed

  • He will never be able to jerk off, have sex, have kids, play sports, rough house with his friends, ride a bike, run around, go bowling, etc... I feel so sad for him, and i hope that docs come up with a cure sometime in his lifetime :/

  • @MiaMccB I saw another documentary where the guy planned his own funeral at 36 living with EB. He said something like "Yeah it's a really bad disease with friction.. Wich is bad if you furiously masturbate" xD I feel bad for him, but he was such a great and funny person. I dunno your comment just reminded me of it.

  • I'm crying, Garret seriously is the sweetest thing!

  • I love this lil girl, shes amazing! <3

  • That kid Garrett will definitely be a basketball coach, write it down

  • i actually got tears from watching this.. we take everything for granted

  • @TheSweetPinkBerry that's so true.

  • There is a british documentary called The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off and it is about a guy with EB. Very upsetting but very beautiful.

  • This girl is amazing. She has such a great attitude, and she doesn't let her skin condition hold her back. Shes just like any other teenager. :)

  • Hunter is soooo amazing!!

  • hunter is awesome :) thumbs up girl!

  • Watching this makes me body hurt..

  • This poor little boy

  • Hunter is more mature than most people twice her age lol cute girl

  • how does the kid with not enough skin go to the bathroom?! o.O

  • @littleelfgirls123 probably through a side-tube.

  • I don't care what she looks like, she roleplays with her friends in naruto...this kid is fucking awsome!

  • i give alot of credit to the parents in these situations. there just as amazing as the amazing strong children their raising.

  • awww the little boy ;( this is just heart breaking.

  • im not sure how i got here, but oh my, poor girl.. this really raises awareness i take too much for granted. she's a great kid and i hope someone finds a cure for this.

  • a mother will do anything for her child...garrett's mom is amazing.

  • Aw i LOVE Hunter , jusd qettinq on with everythinq (: I should take a few tips from her hehe <3

  • Omg it's totality heartbreaking god bless those kids I wish the best from my heart!!!

  • That lil boy is such a trooper :] I only wish the best for him.

  • so harlequin ichthyosis could technically be related to something like psoriasis

  • @blondecutii1996 both have excessive growth of skin cells. both are autoimmune disorders and there's lots of inflammation

  • I feel so sorry for all these poor kids. We may get sick sometimes, and we may think our jobs and lives suck, but imagine having to live every single day in one of these kids shoes. I don't think i would be able to do it. Be thankful for what you have! :)

  • Oh this just breaks my heart....I'm gonna pray these sweet people.

  • she's such a sweet girl and very articulate. i'm glad she's in good spirits. the boy should definitely look into coaching. what strong kids!

  • @MrMaryJanes, are you seriously using this video about a tragic genetic disease to promote your ideas about right eating?? Thats sick!! Especially from a person with seemingly NO idea about medicine whatsoever..

  • What amazing kids! I admire their love of life & determination to not let their conditions ruin their lives. I hope the young lady finds her dream job & enjoys it & that the young lad gets the chance to realise his dream of working as a professional basket ball coach. Best wishes to them & their families.

  • I fell bad for her, but not to be rude I'd stay away from that girl in the beging not cause the way she look but just cause I might catch something like that

  • Jesus, don`t we save too many people??

  • hunter is such a nerd i love it!! i would totally be her friend!!!

  • Garret is soooooo cute!!!

  • god bless them

  • These poor children! Poor Garret... :( ouch

  • I'm Greatful for what I have and all wish to these to kids with be successful in they dream

  • Wow Hunter is such an intelligent 14 year old! Great speaker too. I'd hate to have that skin disease, I'm always complaining about my skin tone being uneven and red on my face but I guess I shouldn't after seeing this.

  • eveeryone should be grateful for what they have. these two kids are strong fighters

  • this girl is really intelligent :)

  • Poor fuckin People.

  • she's so sweet and she has an adorable personality.

  • At first I was like "This can be interesting" but then @ 0:35 "Nah, just a freak show."

  • A Rajon Rondo jersey? I think Rondo should bring it to him himself.

  • Garrett is sooo brave. i hope they find some cures for kids like these,

  • Hunter is an absolutely gorgeous & smart young woman, Stay strong sweetheart, thank you for educating me.

  • Hunter is such a sweetheart!

  • Such a strong girl!

  • this is one tough, optimistic young lady :)

  • Wow, I'm over here going crazy because a huge zit appeared on my face last night. We take everything we have for granted. :'(

  • When we really think about the fact that sooooo many things could go wrong to the body, it gives us no excuse to whine about the petty things we usually complain about everyday! Alhumdulillah for everything! If you want to know who the real beautiful people are, then look at these people! They know how to make use of what they have instead of constantly complaining about what they do NOT have! Peace be upon them!

  • Awesome young girl !! Hunter is so positive !!!!

  • i really cried a lot

  • i feel bad for them

  • @ally2345904 I don't think they want you to feel bad for them. I don't think that they need any pity from any of us. We can actually learn a whole lot from them!

  • Comment removed

  • atleast she is happy !

  • It good to see such very brave kids like these two! It makes you counting your blessings!

  • These kids are extraordinary! I seriously need to stop complaining about a couple stretch marks. Praying for them!

  • I swear I met a boy who looked like this and had a name close to this but didn't have e.b.....either way both these people are amazing

  • this is soo sad

  • My nieces and nephew all have e.b. They are all my butterfly babies. Luckily, they are not near as bad as Garrets. They have simplex so they can function pretty much normally. Hopefully one day, there will be a cure. Until then, keep on fighting butterflies!

  • Poor boy. :'(

  • I wonder if it would help hunter if she put a humidifier in her room? Such an amazing girl just want to help :)

  • Garret's mum is so chill.

  • very sweet girl...but somewhat irritating

  • Is Hunter's condition painful?

  • And for his skincondition too, holy shit, extreme pain, wonder if theres collagen 7 for him

  • They badly needa cure for her skin condition.. stem cells?

  • yep now i know it hunter is one of the best people in the world goodluck in life hunter!

  • I don't like how they play dramatic music in the background when the speaker tells the story... Hunter is such a positive person, she is soo cool, to her it's not a sad story they are telling! They should make it objective, not try to put us in a certain mood...

  • I'm in the chat right now

  • These kids' spirits honestly make me want to sob. They're so optimistic and strong and beautiful and it's the most touching thing ever. Garrett is so touching- "I try to think about all the good stuff..."

    Incredible respect.

  • @maria13231323 to be fair, a lot of those kids have problems too, just not visible ones.

  • Now i feel like a dick whenever i complain about some small minor skin problem.

  • I honestly would want to kill myself if this happened to me or any of my children. God bless these people.

  • just seeing the boy makes me scared to move there both tough kids and strong :)

  • Really Brave Children's, they really know the meaning of life...

  • This really made me tear. I am a grown man and was brought to tearing due to this. What I should be feeling is happiness, a 100 years ago these beautiful individuals wouldn't be able to live. God bless them, God bless their families and God bless the doctors that keep trying to assist them. Wow.

  • these kids would benefit greatly from going raw vegan.

  • @MrMaryJanes How would that help them?

  • @MsJoelea Going raw vegan cures a lot of diseases, so it would surely do a lot for someone with such an extreme condition

  • @MrMaryJanes Not trying to be rude, but going raw vegan would do nothing to these people. In fact, it might worsen the diseases because of the lack of nutrients. I have nothing against veganism, but I doubt that it would do any good for these children.

  • @MrMaryJanes

Lets not result to lying just to prove a point. It's not a nice thing to do.

  • @ArtypNk Lying? You're trying to tell me that a diet consisting of fruits and vegetables is somehow "lacking nutrients"? Pull your head out of your ass you ignorant shit.

  • @MrMaryJanes

No you pompous fuck, I'm saying it's not the most nutritious one on the planet. There is a reason why sports people eat loads of meat and eggs to be stronger instead of some gay fruit. Because meat is way more nutritious. Harder to absorb, not as easy on the other end, may cause vein thrombi if eaten in excess? Yes. But not as nutritious as raw fruit/vegetables? LIES!!

  • @ArtypNk ??????????????????? Please re-read. You don't make any sense at all. You're trying to say that a slab of rotting animal flesh=health? all those millions who die every year thought so too

  • @MrMaryJanes

Well, prove me wrong, live forever in a perfect health. That'll show me.

  • @ArtypNk So far I've been Vegan since birth, gotten sick once when i was a kid. Have never had a single health problem. You can take a look at my video entitled 100% raw vegan. Enjoy your tortured, antibiotic, rotting animal flesh. All those people who die every year from heart attack/ obesity, etc got that way from eating fruits and vegetables. lol

  • @MrMaryJanes

Well, I eat tons of meat, I drink socially and I smoke. It's been 22 years now, and not only am I not dead, but I work at a physically demanding job, which I'm good at. After work I have more than enough energy to go on lengthy cross country sprints with my dog. How does that fit into your theory? And if you are going to say that over indulgence leads to early, death, you get no counter argument, it does. But should I eat zero meat because too much can kill? No.

  • @ArtypNk You're not healthy. Simple as that

You have shortened your life .

  • @MrMaryJanes

So what? Medical technology will kick right about that time when I come down with cancer and clogged arteries.

  • @ArtypNk goodbye troll.

  • @MrMaryJanes He is trying to tell you that a diet not containing meat, fish etc lacks of proteins and other very important nutrients.I agree that vegetables and fruits should be a daily intake, as they contain abudant vitamins.Lentils, beens and other food of this team contains proteins too but it's wrong of people believing that meat shouldn't exist at all in our diet.I'm not a vegan but sure i think we should try not to eat those food like, umm 5 times a week x3

  • @xDryxTears Sigh...when you will people get a clue. The MEAT AND DAIRY INDUSTRY BRAINWASHED YOU!! YOU GET ENOUGH PROTEIN AS LONG AS YOURE EATING ENOUGH CALORIES. Look it up. Don't take my word for it. No one needs meat and dairy. Period

  • @MrMaryJanes Not trying to hijack here, but I agree. Look at animals in the wild. Most do not eat meat and they consume exactly what they need to thrive. Humans can thrive without meat. I am not a vegan, yet I'm well read on the subject. The meat and dairy industry certainly has made sure they continue to make their profits through misinformation.

  • @MrMaryJanes although I doubt dietary changes will do much to reverse genetic diseases.

  • @xDryxTears Darling, what you have based your argument on is called argumentum ad antiquitam. It's very important to question yourself too when you see someone has a completely different view.

As for the actual video, I think Jonny Kennedy(also a documentary that can be found here on youtube) had the same disease. Very inspiring, I hope this kiddo gets to see that wonderful man.

  • @MsJoelea

Veganism is a good way to die in your 50s from a usually non-fatal disease.

Unless you eat like a Hindu monk, but the sort of stuff they eat is beyond the price range of most people.

  • @leeham991 Don't you just love how most vegans here it's an option but everywhere else in the world people beg for even a proper meal. I'm not counting those who do it for religious reasons but I have met a lot of crass vegans and vegetarians.

  • This girl is really strong... What an amazing personality she has. she is WAY more than just "outgoing!"

  • And I complain about my eczema.. Ashamed..

  • watch this video mademe realize how lucky I am to be born in perfect condition. May every child and family in the video is given courage and strength. May they always be happy.

  • This is just amazing to me. These kids are 10x braver than I am. But this is what makes me so upset - today SO many kids and teens are committing suicide because of bullying... and THESE kids are going through THIS?!?! And they have such positive attitudes, while healthy kids are bullied for something stupid and end it all... Some ppl need a serious reality check.

  • @maria13231323 Saying things like this doesn't help anyone. Everyone has their own problems. Everyone handles them differently. There will always be someone out there who has it worse than you. Bullying can, and does, ruin lives. What these children suffer with these skin conditions is terrible. Really, truly terrible. But it doesn't mean that other people aren't suffering. There are people with worse conditions than these children, and then people with worse conditions than those, too.

  • Hunter is really sweet(:

  • wow, Hunter is really smart and so well spoken!

  • Wow... But I think it is awesome the fact that she has learned to live with her condition and she get's by day by day :) I hope they find a cure for her and every other kid or person that suffer's from it

  • Can't watch it, its too sad.

  • oh my god i dont have words for this. its harsh why are these desises on the world man

look at them its so sad :(

  • This kids that survive these horrible diseases are always so extraordinary.

  • I'm lost for words. Thanks for this upload!

  • QUESTION: I swear by all means I'm not trying to sound perverted. When the boy gets older how is he going to be "intimate" with (himself) or a partner if his skin is continually tearing?

  • @TheManiNicole With his condition, he probably wont live to be that long. People who don't have it as bad as him can still be "intimate" but they just have to be really careful.

  • @MsJoelea Aww poor baby. I'm glad that he's happy now.

  • *gasps* She's an otaku! That's it. I WANT TO MEET THIS GIRL.

  • @mrsdracomalfoy1000 u just watched ms hannah minx didnt u haha

  • @iHUMAN523 *suspicious look* How did you know...

  • @mrsdracomalfoy1000 frm wen u said "shes an otaku" r somthin like that. that was minx's word that day, & id just watched her vid like 30 min b4, so i knew thats wat it was, had to be, lol.

  • awww that basketball choach is so sweet to do that!!

  • omg, i feel so bad for the children having to go through all that pain

  • The doctor or physician with the white coat at 39:37 seems to be uncomfortable at the sight of this poor young boy. Someone needs to fire her!

  • @yingdiskette how?

  • omg Hunter is amazing wow I Know things like her condition can scare people and may be depressing for her but she have been able to positively address both and that makes me happy! ugh! I can't even explain.....she's awesome!

  • Fuck! I hate ending up crying while searching for "extra-ordinary people" of "Heroes"...

  • God,

First of all, Thank You for giving ME everything you have given me...I don't say more enough..second, Please give kids like Hunter and Garrett a special place in Heaven for their courage..

  • i'm thankful for having a functioning normal body. Always remember there is always someone who has it more tuff than you :)

  • At one point, it said the nerve endings will become more sensitive for Garret and therefore more pain. I watched a different documentary on that disease before and it said that people with it often become de-sensitized to the pain by up to 50%?

  • Dear Hunter,

I hope one day I'll be able to be as postive with everything thats going on in my life as you are. Don't ever change, or the world will loose a amazing person <3

  • I feel badly for ever complaining about having a few zits after watching this... Makes me thankful for not having a skin condition like this!

  • that pussy mummy kid should better grow a thicker skin

  • That's not the kind of life I'd want for my kid if they had either extreme.

  • WHATS WRONG WITH HIS FOOT :(
