As a Holy Priest, stack everyone on the tank, and bubble/hot yourself before the nova. Precast Prayer of Healing for the nova, and follow it up with a Circle of Healing. Top everyone up, rinse and repeat.

Lesser geared clothies can be 1shotted by the nova, so look after them.

Boss is too easy... just have everyone knowing what to do, like stacking on eachother. NOTE: tank doesnt have to move out of aoe: and what are you talking about with adds??

this boss is only easy because his Hitpoints aren't that high. Loken can be very deadly because of extremely strong hits if you really dont know what to do.

it might be the healer it might be the dps, if the dps isnt good enough its gonna take longer to down him

So, I was doing this with a moron healer Holy pally that insisted the only way to do this was taking all his Nova in the face. It never worked, and no matter how I asked him to do this strategy in the video, he just refused and ended up leaving.

We just did this. The stairs tactic was messing with healer los. What we did instead was on the middle rise we ran side to side using the orange trim on the floor as a 20 yard guide. Works awsome. Im sure there are a few ways to do this. Side to side worked for us.

the way i do it as a holy paladin is put beacon of light on the tank, get decent dps, when he starts casting that aura thing i bubble and spam heals on the others, then dps til he's dead, easy mode

As a Holy Paladin, I put Beacon of Light on myself, stay away and spam holy light and flash of light to all the party members... the beacon keeps me full and I just have to stay and heal with no worries... It's Easy M'Kay...

well in my case i just stand in and take the nove i have 26k hp unbuffed im a pala tank with the priest buff and my old BoK i have 30k and i take 12k dmg from nove so my only problem is if healer isint quite ready so all i can say is this if the tank is gear for a naxx boss and the healer as well then this one will be nothing

i really should read into the tactics on this fight souly because from the 6 times i've done this instance on heroic mode......we've had 0 deaths on the fight.

And our tactic? Hug...

but everybody says thats the worst thing to do.

Im enhance shaman and last time i did this fight i had one piece of hero set, we had a full heroes resto druid, and a badge set warrior tank, and we have never had any deaths whilst using the "fuck the tactics and nuke" method.

Im a Holy priest.. I have only defeated this guy 2wice on Heroic. I remember one time when I was so nub to this.

I knew what to do. AoE heal and eveyrthing was set in my mind. Heal, run from his nova, AoE heal and repeat. But for some reason, I was having a hard time running from the Nova! I always see only me running from that thing. Later I realized that my ping was horrible, during the fight.

So.. My greatest suggestion is to fight this boss with little to no lag.

If you have a geared enough heals the best and by far easiest strat for this guy is dont run back, stay close to the boss and heal thru the nova. You have to time it so heals get off right after nova is finished but ive done this type of strat 4 times now and its worked every time. Also im a ele sham so i pre-cast a chain heal when he starts casting nova so that also helps.

haha we just smoked this guy(on HC ofc) with 3, we had 2 dpsses who didn't do it before and they died at first run, so i did him with a nice tank and a palla healer, if everyone runs correctly in group this is easy, we didn't run back to circle, thats quite interesting :)

with 2 groups got him on 2nd try easy, but with last group couldnt get him even after 15 wipes & 120g repair bill. so after all that I can say that its all up to who youre with and:

1) everyone must have & react asap to DBM warnings

2) heals should drop casts & run same as the rest, or face chance of death & wipe

3) AOE heals extremely important here

4) hunters should melee only

5) fight him from side from which youre planning to run from

6) try not to go with people who havnt done on heroic

My group just failed so hard on this boss with a balance spec'd druid healing even without getting hit by nova. The amount of healing needed is much larger than the previous boss fights.

And this fight sucks so bad for hunters.

i liked the achivement sound at the end, looks like they got timely death done. pillar to pillar works too. i found it much easier with resto shamans with chain heals. having lock in the party helps if healers is SSed.

Keep failing this as a healer on heroic. I can heal every single heroic with no problems, except this boss. I refuse to pug HOL anymore except with my guild. Thank you for this video! Will give this another go. I like the pillar idea from Danagon92 :)

This maybe doesnt work in HC but in normal it does: You tank him close to a pillar, when he casts Lightning Nova just run around the pillar and the nova wont hit you. This is how my party did it and its much more simple and safer since u get to the spot fast.

And as i said... maybe wont work in HC mode.

As an 80 holy priest i've done most of the northrend instances both normal and heroic and never have problem with boss tactics but here i usually die first ^_^

Normal mode is easy cause AOE dmg from nova is not that big, but on heroic its leathal.

I rarelly go there anymore on heroic cause i get flamed from party members :D.

I think on heroic u get debuff dmg not only when staying far from boss but also when staying too close to your party members but not sure. This tactic is nice btw =)

I honestly think zooming your camera out to the max helps. Cause you get cues from the game and from Loken charging up. if you're too close it can be disorientating. I dunno. He's a bastard but once you get the flow down it's easy.

Thats because the video above has a shaman and a hunter. That's 260 nature resist. They're in e-z mode because of that. If you do this without NR, then have the entire group space out. Even if ranged and casters are eating the ticking debuff its not a big deal. Your real issue is the chaining spark, it will start 1 shotting people if you let it jump enough. When he nova's just run away, ignoring the damage from the tick.
