"Al Qaeda" translates to "the base" and is also a colloquial arabic expression for "the toilet". Hardly a name for a scary terror group. Bin Laden and his band of Afghan rebels which you call al qaeda was created, funded, armed and trained by the CIA during the soviet-afghan war during the late 70's early 80's. Bin Laden was a CIA asset. All major terrorism credited to Al Qaeda is orchestrated by American, British and Israeli intelligence.
