Good Job Here :) I saw him in person in a little bar in Athens, Ga. I still have napkin in my scrape book of mine meant to say I have his "autograph" still. Plus the article from the Paper where he shot his-self. What a TRUE Waste of talent! I still wonder what "drove him" to take his own life?? Had to be something really wrong! I still love him & the good times I had when his music was in & "hot" too. :)

@surfaceplaner Thank you. This was one of my first videos. I have gradually (hopefully) improved. I loved Mel Street. Unfortunate he passed at such a young age.
Thank you Carol. Lloyd is a class act too. I met him at the Pedal Steel convention and also got a session for him in Chicago. They were lucky to have him. Lloyd has a solo on youtube "Farewell Party." He is one of the best musicians I ever knew and I backed some best including Ray Charles, Judy Collins and Luciano Pavarotti. I've always loved Mel Street.
@musicsmind ... I have watched and enjoyed Lloyd's solo of "Farewell Party". With the music from Lloyd, one does not need the words. The steel does the singing!
I see you have been around a lot of musicians. Know you could tell a lot of great stories!
Mel Street used to do a weekly show on a local TV station here. I watched him each week. Was happy when he started charting. Such a shame the way it ended!
Lloyd Green played the steel back-up on this. His style is totally unmistakable and beautiful. This version on youtube is the best one due to sound quality and Lloyd's steel back-up..
This classic country song has the more pop/jazz chord progresson I VI II V I in it "Her hair feels like [VI] silk..." Male singers/guitarists may like doing this song in D instead of E. Then the progression which otherwise might be hard to work out is D-B7-E-A7 and back to D.
@musicsmind ... thank you Tommy for all the information. I do enjoy learning these things. I always have believed those playing instruments for the singers do not get their praise as deserved.
Hearing Lloyd play the steel does raise the hair on my arms! I have several albums of him only on the steel...so very beautiful!
