  • Awesome piece. You definitely took your time in getting the feel and vibe of the classic Noir genre which is my favorite. KUDOS!

  • Thank you! If you can believe it, it took me one night to shoot. I prepare extensively and then move very fast. Might have gone faster with a crew but then again, maybe not. Spread the word & thanks for the feedback!

  • 'Nother good job, Sean. Fantastic lighting.

  • Thank you! I gotta get me a real light set though.

  • Over 3,000 views. Thanks everyone, keep on passing the word around!

  • Great cinematography and lighting. Love maltese falcon! Poor use of the tape and polaroid. Kind of becoming an overly recycled genre, but well done regardless.

  • very spin city like, but good nonetheless

  • Thanks, check out my other projects. I like to diversify.

  • I would very much like to see u make a longer version of this, or something closely resembling it. i very much love this film!

  • @sFISHER12 <3 It was so awesome making it. I wish we had more of these challenges!

  • probably because it's too much inspired of Sin City and other movies of it's kind

  • Check out some other film noirs like:

    "The Maltese Falcon" (1941)

    "Key Largo" (1948)

    "The Asphalt Jungle" (1950).

They are more inspiring to me than Sin City. I used red because of the phone and just continued the theme.

  • This is a masterpiece of independant film noir. Love the voiceover, cinematography is AMAZING!!!!! Good ending, everything was AWESOME i dont know why they didn't pick this one in the top 10

  • You are my new best friend!

  • Well I guess it was because of the style. Frankly, I think noir is a great genre with many different avenues.

  • I thought this was going to turn into a porno.

  • Film Noir is a bit racy but that's the point. Sex, Violence, Mystery. It's all there in true form but in an artful way.

  • Pretty good imitation of classic film noir. The imagery and over-cooked dialogue all seem to work together. Nice job!

  • It's a style thats been re-imagine with films like Brick and Sin City but not done in the original format. I'd love to give it a comeback.

  • I'm looking to find out who made the top 10 I heard, the list is out, I'm sure this one is in, I hope to hear back from you with the good news.

  • Hopefully!!

  • Guess not, but I was contacted as a "Potential Finalist".

  • I like how its so stylized. very cool and funny in the beginning with the nihilist talk lol.

check out my entry called "On The Bench"

  • I was told by a friend that it captures the noir aspect perfectly.

  • yeah that's the term I was looking for. couldn't think of it.

  • Very cool! Is that the poster you were talking about with my photo in the end? - Hugh

  • Yes Sir! You have some outstanding abilities.

  • That's the pic Hugh! What do you think?

  • Awesome! I wish I saw it myself. Awesome video too, like the trailer of a hollywood movie.

  • Not bad at all, finally something worth watching, nice dialogue,we have a project enetered too it's called IceBreaker hope you like it,I agree about the lighting

  • Joel, we should collab on something. Thanks for the feedback!

  • this guy looks like clive owen

  • Nice work here, Shawn. Good luck in the contest!

  • good story , why didn't you go the entire 5 minutes?

  • The average youtube viewer watches only a 2-3 minute video. They decide if they like it within 30-60 seconds.

  • When I edited the video I set it up for pacing, not time. When I saw that it was right about 3:45, I cut it back to something more commercially fitting. It is my experience that when you have the full time for a film, you should not take advantage of the full time.

  • Great job with the noir effect!

  • It was a lot of work but A little practice and some consistent lighting makes all the difference!

  • i don't understand how someone gave you less than 5 stars. I hope to see myself competing against you in the top ten

  • Thank you. I understand that others may not like it for one reason or another. That won't matter until the Top Ten Round.

  • Video tape and Polaroid

  • That is correct, I felt they made a nice intro bit to the piece. It is a 'short' after all.

  • What were the other two props you chose?

  • very good. Story drags a little... but lighting, cinemtography and overall impression should lock you in to top ten.

  • Once you watch the video you understand why what he says is so crucial to what happens. Also why the items in the room are not always consistent.

  • wel done

  • Thank you, Happy New Year!
