  • the best bird for childrens is a tame finch, parakeet can bite really hard

  • gold fish die in one day

  • Our parakeet loves this video. He likes the birds in the background but I think he really likes Billy's voice for some reason. We have to play this for him at least once a week.

  • i know of a similar bird that gouged out the eyes of a child! stay away

  • what if you have a cockatiel and he is trying to pick you with his peck or fly away

  • What's up, Billy!

  • @bringslovetoyou 1 get your grammar right kid! And 2 I still don’t believe you have 37 parrots if they are yours or not, you over exaggerate! and if you are 9 I don’t think your parents would put you in charge of parrots.

  • @watercatfish

Wow! I can still spot mistakes in your reply!

    1. Get your grammar right, kid!

    2. Over-exaggerate

Anyways, I don't care if you believe or not. Your parents probably beated you up and made you beg for money in the street, that's the reason why you think most parents are mean.

  • @watercatfish

    1. Get your grammar right, kid. There's a comma

    2. And 2, I still don't believe.....There's a comma

    3. 37 parrots if they are your's or not. There is a ' sign

    4. You over-exaggerate. There's a dash

    5. And if you are 9, I don't think your parents would put you in charge of parrots. There's another comma.

    6. I don't think your parents would've put you in charge of parrots.

    MANY MISTAKES

  • @fairfresh I- lIkes dah Pi3

  • *across

  • i really dont think you should get a bird for a child :/ they should have a hamster or a gold fish. birds are way to easy to kill...

  • I have it

How can I Take care of them

  • Little time to tame it took me 2 months to tame a cockatiel

  • I'd suggest parakeets for children about 10 and up depending on the child. If the child is 10 and responsible, yes. But if the child is 10 and not very responsible then no. And of course a child this young would always need to be supervised while caring for the pet. With a little research, the child could learn how to train their parakeet on their own, and once or twice a day the child and an adult could take the bird out of its cage for some play time. I got two parakeets when I was 9!

  • Comment removed

  • @ropeburn2 i didn't say you'd get sick from it, i meant the fish might as well be neglected, they die faster in the care of a child than even in walmart.

  • Don't require a lot of care? Then this guy must not count play time as care.

  • LOVE THE TEXAS ACSENT <3

  • @awesome10164

Also on specie as well. Rosella cost about $400 but the common parakeet only cost may be $10

  • I have 2 cockatiels at home the male is sweet but the female is not

  • WAIT A MINUTE... All of us who were ranting (including me) are complete retards... They're saying these are the best pet BIRDS for children, not the best pet of all. So let's all just put on our derp faces and shut up. These ARE the best BIRDS for children.

  • @TheFurryBlade youve got a point he did mean which are the best BIRDS 4 children

  • So that guys selling those kids grown up parakeets? Wow. Thats great. Now when they get it home and it bites there fingers they'll actually think where to get their bird next time.

  • how much do they cost

  • @alliechskabruja

    10 dollars- 20 dollars :)

  • @fairfresh actually it depends on where they buy them and how they buy them 4 example at petco theyre 21 bucks compared 2 the cheap stores which sell them at 15 bucks

  • I WANT HIM TO GET A HYACINTH MACAW!!!!!! so it can bite him leading that show off to the hospital!!!

  • @fairfresh lol, omg thats epic! i so want that to happen! except hyacinth macaws are too good for him. he sucks, macaws rock!!!XD

  • @therearekangaroos123

oh yea didnt thought about that :D maybe a vulture lol ^_^

  • That kid just think you just do that!!! who says that!!!! Go and train that bird yourself dummy how hard it take to train a bird like that..... try training it and hell end up letting him go crying!!! if the bird can talk hell say what a show of he is!!! how easy is it to trainn a bird! if its a macaw it would probably scratch and bite him!

  • the best pet for a child is easily a goldfish. They're probabley the easiest pet to take care of.

  • @TheFurryBlade Yeah but goldfish are boring.

  • @sadeklovemario lol yeah

  • @sadeklovemario sometimes unless they can do some tricks but just staring at them swimming cn be a bit boring

  • @TheFurryBlade I'd suggest a pet rock, any living thing shouldn't be given to a child to take care of, once the 'new' wears off they ignore it, and goldfish are not the easiest pet to care for, they're ammonia factories, harbor bacteria, need almost daily water changes if they're in a bowl and kids just don't have that type of attention span.

  • @TheFurryBlade they are the easiest pet to take care of lol!

  • @TheFurryBlade and if it ides the kid never needs to know just keep a spare fish in the parents room whats that no he just changed color

  • @TheFurryBlade

You might think that but he also sais one of his faviroutes so you are wrong I hate fish even when it comes to eating one they may die in attemt on touching it and creating a bound

  • I think the reason people think that their good for children is because a lot of parakeets owned by children have good lives... because in today's world, the parents would take care of it.

  • We stopped getting birds when our next door neighbours bought a cat. a very sad moment, a unforgettable bird was lost :( R.I.P Rosy.

Thi year, i have been wanting a bird. I researched and found out only cocketeils have the powder. I have now convinced my parents to let me have an indoor bird. Since they weren't a problem, (before mum got sick)

My dogs live outside, at night in LARGE pen. Filled with wildlife and happiness. My Rabbit max, has been outdoor for 6 years. Is alive.

  • Hi.

I am right now 12 with 3 Dogs, 2 Turtles 2 rabbits, and one carnivirous Tropical fish.

I am going to get a bird.

I take care of all the animals. i have 2 older brothers. But I do the work. I have been doing the work for th rabbit (max) since i was 6! Max is still alive at this moment.

When I was little we had birds. We had cocketeils and mum had an allergic reaction to the powder. so they had to be put outside. My parents told me the rules. AND I TAMED the birds. At the age of 6!

  • I have my lil budgie since I was 8, and she is AMAZING. Shes so smart and cute... She has a lot of energy even if shes kinda old.

    I really recommend those birds.

  • so dont be afraid to get your kid a pet people, its a brillent learning expierence, and youd be surprised how grown up little kids can be. pets can really bring out the best in your child :)

  • ,,, so anyways, i know ive rambled but bottom line, pets are for children, thought they arent toys they are friends etc, and children can give love most adults cant, and they truley love them and teach each other. but a child is only as responsible as the parent and though should look after the pet, the parent should look out for the child, if the kid slips up and the pet dies, its the parents fault the child is heartbroken. after all a kid is just a kid and needs help sometimes :)

  • ... i treasured pets as a child, i mean me and my brothers got animals like cats and rabbits, you know pets that dont die so easily, but it is irrsponsible talk, to think a parent would give a child a pet and expect the kid to actually solely look after it. i mean yes kids need to learn responsiblity and a pet is a brillent way to teach them that pets need cleaned and played with and feed etc, but just handing a life over to someone that needs looking after is plain stupid. :)

  • umm kids arent retarded, they're kids. stop calling them that its mean, act your age you losers.

and i agreewith most comments here, its not that kids shouldnt have pets under 12, its that they shouldnt be in sole responsiblity of a pet. i mean they are kids, but itsa beautiful thing to play with, its a beautiful thing for kids to teach children about life and loving another being and such.

  • @AnimeLoverForever16 kids do not need birds!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mattharden1982 i didnt say they need birds, i said a bird is a good idea when considering options for a childs pet, and my point was more pets in general not just birdies.

and why not? many peope, incuding myself think a bird is a perfect sweet little pet for a child, thier playful, sturdy and curious so they are easy to teach and play with.

  • i my self have a lovebird, but i had recently gotten my daughter two budgies a month ago, and she gives them fresh food and water everyday, with out me telling her to do it. and she's only 4 years old

  • @LugiasPal good but a lovebird for a 4 year old? um not being mean but a love bird is a small bird with a big bird personality and requires more than food and water! I raise birds so please trust me!

  • @mattharden1982 i know my birds really well, and they get well with me and my daughter. My lovebird loves my daughter, and my daughter respect my lovebird. the bird is out of the cage half of the day hanging with us or just playing. my lovebird will fallow my daughter around, or she will sit on her head while my daughter is playing. My daughter knows how to treat the lovebird well, and even for a fact my lovebird is female. and dont you think i would know about the personalitys of lovebirds.

  • @mattharden1982 so before you start spewing crap around saying that birds are not good for children, you are wrong. You may have raised birds, but you dont know what will happen to them, iv seen quite abit of adults who dont take care of there pet birds. and my daughter dose a better job, because i a parent teaches her about what needs to be done keeping our birds healthy, she even helps me clean the cages every week with out me asking her.

  • @LugiasPal KIDS DO NOT NEED BIRDS!

  • @mattharden1982 and also for a fact, i had gotten my lovebird from a friend who is an adult, she left the thing in its cage for 2 years, and never let it out, or give it bath, and it was living in a house full of smoke. when i got it home my daughter and i were helping the poor thing out, cleaning its dirty cage, and also let the bird have a bath. since the bird has stepped into our lives, She has been happy with me and my daughter, and get the love and attention it needs from the both of us.

  • Budgies and Parakeets are a terrible pet for kids. I have two budgies right now. If they grow up with other budgies, they will not hand train. They bite, they scream, they're loud, and they reluctant to learn to talk. Parakeets and Budgies AREN'T for Kids. They're uncooperative, and affectionate. Parents, get your kids an animal that can feed itself...like a cat...or a dog. BASIC! No caged pets!

  • @Nienafefalas46 AMEN AMEN!!!!!!!!!!! Birds require so much time and close observation no bird is right for kids!

  • Well i sort of agree that kids shouldnt have pets like these but once over 12 most kids will understand how to take responsibility unless they are retarded. Below 12 they are mostly retarded.

  • Birds are one of the worst suited pets for children. They do need a lot of attention and they are 'easy to care for' if you have the experience with birds. young Children CANNOT take care of a bird. When handling birds you need to be careful, even an adult can accidently handle a bird incorrectly and damage it, they are fragile. I do not reccomend in the slightest a bird as a pet for your kid.

  • @MissAllyKat3 i like your comment on the video "pet birds for children: best pet bird for a child" im 100% with you on what you said im going to finnish my comment in another message

  • @MissAllyKat3 im 18 yrs old and allthough iv had birds in my house since i was 6 i allwas had my mother with me when i was holding my cockatiel bird make sure i didnt do any thing wrong. truth was it was my moms bird shes the one who took care of it and payed attention to it 90% of the time as a kid or any kid they can not take care of a bird when it comes to feeding it water each and every day AND most important giveing it alot of attention!!!

  • @MissAllyKat3 im 13 and intrested in a parakeet. do you think 13 is old enough? i know how to clean the cage and everything

  • @SirCamzALot3 yes

  • @SirCamzALot3 yep (: if u have the responsibility :P

  • @MissAllyKat3 Well that all depends on the child, some are more capable than others

  • @MissAllyKat3

I'm 9 and I am caring for 37 parrots. This includes Macaws, Cockatoos, Greys and Amazon. I think they make nice pets....

  • @fairfresh i dont belive you have 37 birds all for yourself...i have 2 a grey and a cockateil and they take all my time away, and if you are 9 why are you on youtube?

  • @watercatfish

Then don't. I didn't keep it ALL my own. My parents have a bird farm which have over 2000 birds. Why would they not give me just 37? I need a YouTube account to post videos. In my other account.....this is my spare account

  • @MissAllyKat3 I believe the video was about "the best pet bird for a child", not that birds are the best pet for a child. In which he is right, budgies are the best bird for a child. Where else are they going to learn how to care for something? Wait till he is older but 'allowed' to own a cockatoo and really balls it up.

  • @basfordh

    Agree.

  • anyone over 10 could have a budgie, but really? a 6 year old could NOT have a budgie.

  • wkkimmy yea right ! i saw a video and the little girl had cut the bird's tail and she was squishin the bird in her hand ! ridiculous !

  • The best pets for children are hamsters and gerbils. Not budgies. Budgies are a miniture parrot, they do require a lot of care, a lot of attention or they will get bored lonely, or/and destructive. I disgree, pets for children are very good, I appreciated my mum letting me have my first pet because it allowed me to understand and learn responsibility.

  • I don't recommend any type of pet for kids under 10. They're too young to learn the importance of responsibility. Like if I had a kid that wanted to get a dog, he/she'd have to watch "The Dog Whisperer" 24/7, research the breed and do all sorts of shit!

  • video is as slow as shit

  • I hate these people who say kids can't care for animals. All you have to do is tell them how to do. my little bro who was 3 years old got a fish and now hes five and that fish is still going strong. =)

  • @MrsParakeetQueen You have to hold them accountable for their pets. I have grown up with two cats throughout most of my life, and a few fish and two parakeets in the past. I would take care of them the best that I could.

  • cockatiels are better

  • are parrakeets and budgies the same things ?

  • @1919hellokitty lol yeah

  • @1919hellokitty Yes they are Budgies is just short for Budgieagar (SP?) however most people just call them Parakeets. :)

  • The only animal that requires as little care and time to tame as he suggests is a stuffed animal...

  • 0:20 WHAT! every animal needs lots of care! not to sit in the cage a rot!

birds are delicate, not for children! the kid probably dont know how to clean

the cage! (probably let there parents do that anyways)....

  • BUY BIRDS THAT ARE HAND FED and parakeets are pooping machines i would suggest a parrotlet not parakeet

  • @justmakemeanaccount hey you fuckin bitch wat the hells your problem you were a fuckin child once too, you dumbass

  • @justmakemeanaccount watch ur damn language boy! IF u think u r sooooo good at having pets. Why in the name of green earth are you watching this video!

  • @justmakemeanaccount Really? I bet kids are on this channel and have seen this coment. I hope some one gets rid of this comment.

  • @justmakemeanaccount hey, im fuckin 14! my mom left me and my 21 year old bro at home for a week so she could go for a vacation! and since my bro goes out all the time, i had to take care of 2 large dogs, 1 fat cat (happily fat), and four kittens! so don't say geeks can't take care of animals...

  • @justmakemeanaccount idiot, if you recommended budgies for 12+ why the fuck did you have one at 5 you insignificant piece of shit.

  • @EscaladeGurl because i wasnt a dumb fuck like most people at that age.

  • @justmakemeanaccount oh yeah? you were 5, your brain is still developing. shut up dickhead.

  • @EscaladeGurl oh yea how come the bird i raised at 5 years old could talk fly at command come to me like a dog n loved me? cause i wasn't fuckin retarded like you were when you were 5 budgies are not toys dumb shit i'd reccommend them for 12 years and up because their delicate animals and are easily injured and sickend so shut the fuck up bitch

  • @justmakemeanaccount I had 3 parakeets when I was 7 and I taught all of them very well. Don't assume that all kids are stupid and cannot take care of a small animal like a bird. As long as they understand the situation, and aren't afraid of getting bit a couple times in the beginning, they can train a bird.

  • @ChibiSilent16 im not saying that but kids today are moronic

  • @justmakemeanaccount

I agree with you, what's wrong with that kid?

  • @fairfresh whats wrong with YOU

  • @JustMandyVideos224

I am telling the truth, that kid is such a show of! What ever, I think his parents would look after it.... hes just ganna play with it and at last letting it go.....

  • @fairfresh ah i guess that nmakes sence

  • @justmakemeanaccount yeah fuck you to you sound like a kid fuckin moron.............

  • @justmakemeanaccount And yet your sitting at the computer being a fuktard.

  • haha in some time if the computer sound i not too high but low instead of saying hardy you will hear him say horny. So instead of saying they are very hardy you hear him say they are very horny. just joking good vid

  • My opinion would be a cockatiel. Because they are not small but not huge. I still have my cockatile from when I was 2

  • @gamefreak4170 shoot yeah, cockatiels can live up to around 25-28years if properly cared for.

  • First thing I noticed: WAAAAY too many parakeets for that cage

Second thing I noticed: Not ALL parakeets are docile. Of course most parakeets will cooperate young children, but some will require training. Besides, if you want a parakeet, you want it to BOND with you.

Third thing I noticed: I hated this video.

  • I agree, pets should NOT be bought for young children.

Kids don't know the difference between stuffed animals and living, thinking creatures. A parakeet will be miserable with a little kid.

  • @masharcool123 Im like 11 and I have 3 dogs 2 turtles 4 hamsters 2 chinchillas 1 gunnie pig 5 birds 2 rats 2 ferrets and some fish and they are ALL LIVING AND HEALTHY!!!! So what do you mean by kids should not have pets hmm.......????

  • they are not easy to care for tamed or untamed espacially when they got egg....

  • I don't like birds, they always take a dump on me

  • I wonder what happens if those kids went to a different pet store with scared (untamed) budgies ... it wont be easy to train or look after ....

  • Comment removed

  • cant they fly away

  • @41015747 not if they r in a cage

  • the budgies are good but the kids aren't.

  • should i clip of my parakets wings? so it wont fly away?

  • @cupiecakesareyumify Hey yah you can find Parakeet videos on youtube and they will show you how to do it. I recommened you do because you will have more control over your little bird friend!

  • i just want to squeeze em

  • My mom told me,"When we had our first budgie,It was very hard for her to get on to our fingers. But she praticed, unlike the new boy bird.

  • If you have the money,a SUN Conure is better. They are Very smart, curious, personable, loving, playful, loyal, friendly, good listeners, awesome colors(bright orange, red, yellow, green, and a little blue.)A young kid will grow up with a conure possibly all the way through college. My sun,Kiwi & Peanut ,a peachfront conure are my good friends.I don't look at them as pets.Thats how smart they are. They want to be with me 24/7.They even sleep on my pillow next to my head, then wake me in the morning with kisses

  • @demmylowther But most Conures aren't good for most kids. Btw, you can kill your bird by sleeping with it.

  • akihikio budgieare same thing smart one maybe you should study more on birds budgie what austarlia calls them cause there from there and us calls them parakeet

  • Well, I think most of the people here will agree with me: This is definatly a sales pitch from a pet store that doesn't sell birds! No matter the size, all birds need love, care, attention, and time. Just because budgies are small does not mean they need less cage cleaning, less attiention, or less care. They are not just 'tamed' as he implies, they need work with someone who cares! They are also not hardy! That's great to tell kids, "don't worry if you miss a feeding, it'll live!"

  • omgomgomg he sorta looks like the guy from the 40 year old virgin xDDD

  • Hm. I have a parakeet. :\ He bites. :\

I wish he was nice x] Once we get a new one I am gonna get a Parote.

  • Hahaha I like Billy

  • i had two parakeets but my brother (who is older than me)killed one and he had to set the other free because no one wanted 2 dead birds

  • kids shoudl not have pets

they seriusly cant take care of them

    i know from experience

  • @masharcool123 Maybe you've never had a responsible kid?

  • @RectangularBird

I started taming birds when i was 4, it came to me easily, than when i turned 13 i let my sister buy a budgie because i thought she might be able to take care of birds like I did. I made the biggest mistake of my life, I will never do it again, for the birds of the world's sake.

  • dont need a lot of care? thats like saying a certain ethic group of people dont need the same living conditions....now it sounds wrong ay!

budgies need as much care and attention as any other animal even more considering there a flock bird! jeez some people worry me!

  • i dont wanna be mean,..but i hate it when parents buy pets for their kids..KIDS CANNOT TAKE CARE OF ANIMALS. unless taught well..i've so far had my goldfish and lizard for 7 years now and they are well. i had my 5 birds for 8 years. even goldfish are hard to keep..there not toys..their animals!

  • @wkkimmy

Agreed. The parent should go into the ownership of an animal not only because their child will enjoy it and learn along the way, but because they are willing to care for it as well.

  • @wkkimmy hey! i'm 11 and I have a 30 gallon tank with guppies, catfish and an algae eater and I've never struggled with them! just because kids are younger than adults, doesn't mean they cant care for animals!

  • @supertailsboom i have also tooken care of many animals when i was your age and i did well too, if you read it again i said, if taught well. im saying this because many people take animals as if they are toys, i dont care if your doing well with your animals, all i care for is that they are doing well and good with out abuse

  • @wkkimmy True. I may say a pet is for my children, but I know all along it's really a pet for me that the kids get to play with. Even when I was small I had pets, but (except for feeding my fish) my parents did all the work.

  • @wkkimmy well you shouldnt have a pet either you bitch

  • @TheBostonterrierMino you sound like little child..grow up

  • @wkkimmy fuck you bitch ass nigger

  • @TheBostonterrierMino see? lol, chill, im just stating my facts, and your swearing.. lol dumbfuck

  • @TheBostonterrierMino Who cares? *flags*

  • @wkkimmy Gold fishes are hard to keep. I had one for only 3 weeks, one day I had to clean the bowl and as I was trying to get it out by using a net, but it keeps avoiding it. I got frustrated so I took a fast swung and without realizing it, I injured it. Poor fish died in 2 days. but this was ages ago.

  • @wkkimmy really, a goldfish that lived seven years? i've never heard of one that lived that long. i had one that lived for around two and a half years. i heard that their average life span is only two years.

  • @grantshurtz whos ever told you that goldfish had an average life span of two years..you serious? my goldfish is now 8 and the world record for the oldest gold fish is 43 and is now dead. 43....believe it or not even goldfish can live that long

  • @wkkimmy good lord i am 10 i breed betta fish own 2 hamsters a tropical fish tank and 2 dogs and they are very healthy a little boy in my family age four takes GREAT care of them . >:(

  • @Starflower56 do you like animals? are you willing to take all your time to love your animals? if you do, then you truly are someone with a love for animals. but some kids dont give a crap about these animals and do what ever and think what ever they can with them..if you were really understanding, you would agree with me

  • That IS a parakeet and they ARE easy to take care of i had 9 parakeets when i was 7 or 6 and all you had to do was about 20 minutes of your time to train them, then at least once a week clean their cage its fun and easy people who dont have time to do things like taking care of parakeets think its hhard but its NOT once you take away some time to be with ur bird

  • that is ah damn lie..my keets r so hard to handle im bout to stranggle dat bitch..hahah..i think COCKATIEL are ah good first choics..look at my video u will see

  • how much do parakeets coast at a pet store in toronto

  • they cost 21.99

they can talk but some do not,and if they do you have to say 1 word,1 week straight like everytime you see it say ''hello'' or

''thank you'' hope this helps and the words wont be clear an easy thing to do is put a recorder by it

  • Hey does anyone know a good pet store that sells HEALTHY budgies in Williamsport Pennsylvania ??

  • untill the child has to pay for the vet bills ;)

  • This is a great video, very interesting.

  • hey can you help me out and like tell me how i should bond with the parakeet cause i just got it today about 30 minutes ago and i want to know how to bond with it

  • first you want to leave the bird alone for a day or two so it can get used to its new home. you also wanna put it in a place where you are a lot. After it is some what used to u try to feed it a piece of millet if it flys dont chase it around the cage just try again later. After it is used to eat out of ur hand try to take it out of the cage by training it the UP command when it comes out talk to millet and put it back

  • acturally u wouldnt want to leave it alone it is like if u just adopted a child u would want to play with it not leave it alone in a cage u want to get to know it

  • well u want it to get used to its surrounding

  • I'm putting mine in my bedroom :)

I'm there for hours at a time.

  • These are cheap 20 bucks!

  • i get them at this place and theyre 4 bucks and r healthy too

  • I've always wanted a pet, but any fur gives me allergic reactions. I'm getting a little dry right now cuz im in this house we just moved into and they had cats + dogs =( anyways I'm really responsible and I go to school at 7:45 and return 3:15 = 4:15. Would a parakeet be a good pet..?

  • Birds don't have fur. They have feathers which are different. Not sure if allergies apply or not though. There are 91 kinds of parakeets, which species are you talking about? If you are asking about budgerigars, they can be great pets but require a lot of work and taming. They do shed a little bit of feathers and make a little bit of bird powder but the bird is so small that I doubt it would cause much allergies. If you can be a responsible owner, I don't see why not.

  • ohh sry i knew what feathers are lol. and yeah, I was talking about budgies. I'm not sure though cuz I've never had an interactive pet before, I've only had fish..

  • if you buy two then it would be fine because they could entertain them selfs intill you get back home

  • and if i got 2 they would still be affectionate towards me?

  • not as much as only one but yes

  • Yeah

  • Sure. They can live without you for a while.

Think about a fish tank too, I've got one. EASY to take care of.

  • i cant get my bird to sit on my hand... he always jumps to my shoulder or head

  • Haha. That's a Budgie, not a parakeet.

Also, they are not easy to care for. They need just as much love and attention as larger birds. You can't just stick them in a cage, feed them and leave them. They love companionship. Even my rescue who doesn't like to be handled likes to be talked to, and paid attention to. A lot.

The tame ones require even MORE attention. People really need to do more research before getting ANY bird. ANY BIRD.

  • Exactly right you are! We spend as much time and attention training our Budgie as we do our Senegal Parrot. And I have to tell you it is just as capable of a bird as the larger and significantly more expensive parrot. They are both just as much work. Neither large parrots nor smaller types of parakeets (including budgerigars) are suitable pets for little children. A bird is far more difficult to properly care for than people think and they bite if you don't tame them properly.

  • Would they be nice for a 12yr old child that can spend lots of time with it?

  • No, probably not. They bite, they are mean, and they don't care that they bit you. In fact they don't really see it as biting but more like self defense.

You reach your hand in to the cage to pet your bird and be nice and get bit in return. That is what you should expect from any sort of parrot.

Budgies are too much work for children and this video only recommends them for commercial motivations to sell them but they are wrong. Parrots and parakeets are NOT good pets for children at all.
