This is really nice. This song is such a classic and so are our families. I was remembering my father and brother (both deceased) who share the same birthday of 2/20 and I found your video. Nice work!
This song makes me think of my Daddy who always prayed before meals. Because of a severe hearing problem he stopped attending church in mid-life when he found himself the only one left standing in the congregation one day and the people were all laughing when he looked around. I doubt that they were laughing at him, but he thought they were and would never attend church again but he never stopped saying grace before meals. Good to know that famlies like your own still do this. Thanks!!
Lester used to say that he'd received more mail requests at the Opry to sing this song, than any other song. Lester and Tex Ritter were the best recitationists in country music...
@Fiddlelefty Josh Graves , who is playing dobro here, said he came up with the tune when Lester and Earl first recorded it in 1964. It does not have a name-just the tune they used to back up this recitation.
WELL, my boy it was worth waiting for. That was really nice and the song was perfect for it. Lovely pictures of the family and the last picture just set it off. 5 STARS and thumbs up.
@deskyles I really couldn't find anything online worth putting with this song so I used my own. I have a similar project I did in high school on VHS tape. I need to track down that tape to share on youtube.
@deskyles I remember that we had a camcorder facing a table. We put pictures on the table, adjusted the camera and taped some 5 seconds or so of the picture. After doing that, we added music using a cassette player connected to a VCR.
We also added graphics using a computer that was already old back in 2001 lol.
