hey i'm currently playing this song too. I'm fourteen. I think you could use a little more touch, like have some of the notes slurred, some staccato, some legato, to make it more interesting and more life! Also, you could use some more distinctive dynamics on the LH and RH 32nd notes, plaly around with them! Just a little constructive criticism! Overall, a very good performance. Keep up the good work! :)
I play the piano and I'm trying to teach my son who is almost 5 years old, but no way, he doesn't have the patience that needs in order to learn a piano song. After one minute he gets bored, what can I do?
Well if he gets bored so quick he must have too much energy. Just let him run around and get all his energy out. Show him that playing music can be fun and start simple
I dunno if you're still trying to teach your son this same piece 8 months later, but whatever you're doing I'd implore you not to quite teaching your son piano.
I'm no parent, but I know that I never really like piano at a young age, but my parents made me play anyway, and I'm glad they did. I love it now.
I'm 17 and I just finished Rachmaninoff Prelude in C# Minor and I have to do some Bach inventions. I'm on #14 now and I just wanted to see how it sounded before I learned it. Great Job Buddy!
I've already played this music, and I won the 1st prize with it. This song is really easy, if you have coordenation. This boy needs a metronom. ( I'M FROM PORTUGAL, I DON'T KNOW THAT MUCH ENGLISH )
That was way to choppy u should hear me play it. I'm picking it up right now. It should be at least more smooth. There is a bit to much bounciness. It was good though.
this piece was originally written for the harpsicord, because, pianos actually didnt exist in bach's day. and on a harpsicord there are no dynamics...
Conratulations! I am so glad to watch your video. They should not allow any less than this on you tube. Please tell your teacher (one of your parents?) great job! Keep up the good work. I hope to hear about you in the future! Do not let your head grow! YOu have to work hard to keep up your great standards! Once again, great playing! Love it!
damn, I hated learning this song, and I have quite big hands. It should be played (on my opinion) atleast double / 2 & half times this tempo here to make it sound atleast bearable :)
? He's way past 5y11m now, but ALL of the videos we recorded when he's 5y11m would ALWAYS be 5y11m, right?? If you want to double check, in his Solfeggietto video we posted 4 months ago, it's clearly stated he was 6 years old then.
Its not that Bach has no staccatos but it's that in Bach's time, they played in organos and those instrument couldn't "give" such sharp staccatoes. So staccato is written in some Bach peaces, but still it doesn't means stacattoe like in Mozart, for example.
I noticed that indeed some other people (including even Glenn Gould) played it with some staccato instead of all legato. His teacher taught the legato version, and I personally like it better. Hopefully we'll post an update of this piece and polonaise soon.
wow, i thought the keys looked huge! but then I saw that it was a 6-year-old. Great memorization, needs more dynamics, GREAT articulation. Keep it up :)
It's nice to see this invention played. I remember when I played it for a solo and ensemble competition in high school the judge was amazed to hear this one instead of the usual number 1, 8, or 13. Very well done, by the way, quite accuratly played. It's hard not to rush those inventions, like I'm guilty of when I try to play them:)
Please review the left hand about the end (more or less minute 1:36-1:38). It is a bit different. Check the sheets. But anyway amazing work! Keep on with it! He will surely be an splendid pianist in the future!
You caught it! We don't play music so we didn't, and teacher did not reach the last part when we recorded this video. But my son heard this video the other day and said there's mistake near the end.
well we finally figured out why our piano doesn't hold tune now (it held tune before when we did not move heer yet) - our washer/dryer's just next room and every time we do laundry the piano shakes if you feel it with your hands. I guess we just need to move it away from the laundry room for it to hold tune.
Thanks! There's not any interesting anecdote about it though. We bought a keyboard when he's a bit over 3.5 yrs, he showed very nice control of fingers when we showed him how to play twinkle twinkle little stars. We were encouraged, so a few months later we bought a piano, and he started lesson when he turned 4.
Thanks for the compliments! I hope he'd be able to post some more soon. He's working on several pieces now while keeping up some of the old ones too for performance reasons.
He plays well. And awesome.I have to say sorry for what I said before.I didn't take his age into consideration. The beginnig part of left hand can be more legato.However.It might be diffcult for him.Because his hand is small. And his interpretation is
COME TO CANDY MOUNTAIN CHARLIE

That's true, but he's got little hands, so in order to reach most of the notes on time, he has to let go of the other ones.

Very nicely done! Never too early (or too late in my case) to play Bach. However, the piano needs tuning. His young ears deserve better.
etienne88 5 years ago
The piano was tuned a couple times in the last year already. Seems it's not good and doesn't hold the tune well. Probably should buy a new one.
