I don't think europeans quite understand the vett. Because unlike a zonda or a aston or ferrari, this is a super car that any middle class average joe can go out and get. It gives people hope.
After owning several American Cars and a couple British cars, the conclusion I've come to is that both are crap, British cars are just crap that costs three times as much.
the pagani is built to be the ultimate supercar...this is to get from point A to point B as fast as possible...i like the vette but come on...if u'd choose to get in either of the cars which would u choose? exactly...
@shobin05 The z06 and zonda are in different classes. But when the c6 z came out it was just as good as the zonda that was current at the time. Now the zr1 is competition for the new zonda. For the massive price difference the vettes do quite well. They are an amazing, almost rediculous bang for the buck and Im a proud owner of a 2001 z06. Full time college student and still can beat most cars on a track.

Gm should offer a 4lz package for discriminating europeans or customers who want a more refined/plush cockpit. this would increase the price by 7-9 grand though.
@762SLR762 . the 08 is better. mine is 3lz. they also have a smoother 6 speed tranny. the steering is also more refined than on the 07. for the money nothing comes close. It's an absolute blast
I checked the prices. Most non-US cars cost pretty much the same in the US as they do in their home countries. It works out to the conversion rate (give or take a few grand). For example, the Aston Martin DBS costs 170,000 pounds in Britain, in the USA it's $269,000 (176 683.087 pounds and that's probably because the pound has slid some against the dollar recently).
The standard 430 isn't in the same league when it comes to performance as the ZR1. Even the Z06 is quicker than the F430. The Scuderia offers comparable performance but it is a completely bare bones car with no finish. Aston Martin DB9 is a grand tourer, not a sports car. And the GT2 is just a stripped down Turbo! It doesn't have any luxury features either. The Vette has sat nav, air conditioning and power windows, yet it's quicker than both the GT2 and Scuderia and a hell of a lot cheaper.
Why the hell does it cost that much in the UK? In the US it costs just over $100,000. Dealers there must be marking it up BIG TIME. The ZR1 can beat every Zonda but the Zonda F Clubsport model around the Nurburgring. It's 1 second slower than the Enzo. It's quicker than the Porsche Carrera GT and the F430 Scuderia. The Scuderia doesn't even have carpets and you can even see the weld lines. The Vette costs less than half of what it does and yet offers superior performance and luxury.
Well 762SLR762, I live in the US and those cars you mentioned are all at least 50,000 US dollars more than a ZR1. Thats a lot of money. Maybe not to you though.

While that is true, I sometimes doubt Clarksons' "bias" towards american cars...at least Tiff knows that this Z06 has far exceeded 'american muscle cars' from decades long ago..hence his comment..."Aston Martin and Jaguar..eat your hearts out..the americans are showing us how to do it!"
