i have keratoconus in both eyes and for years my future seemed steered towards cornea transplant. if i got a cornea transplant would it mean i would still have to wear lenses? after the healing process of course. can someone answer this please?
@ANDYV2K8 i hava it and my left eye which is 20/100 and my right is like 20/400 and i just went in for soft lenses at uc davis and now my left eye read 15/20 and my right is 20/80... like goin from grandpas t.v. to HD ha but If u need the transplant you'll need the lens anyways so if they work with out than don't do the surgeory...
@Ray2thez21 That's exactly how everything looks now, HD TV!!! I kept thinking is this really how everything is suppose to look like? It's so sharp and crisp!! It's almost too sharp!! Like can we tone it down a bit? When I saw my computer screen, the colors!! lol When I first saw myself it's like I could see every pore in my skin I just started to clean my apartment like I can see every single dust particle, wow just weird I tell ya!!
@ANDYV2K8 Look into the latest treatment called Collagen Crossing Linking which has been approved in Europe and in phase I trial in the US. Many eye specialists in the states, particularly, around Beverly Hill area can now perform this procedure. It's quite expensive though (around $3K-3.5K per eye)
@ANDYV2K8 I have a pretty severe case, lucky for me in NZ they government will pay for it but they wont do it till I am 30, if I am not mistaken after you have had a transplant you can wear normal glasses.
i have this problem and i wear hard contact rigid gas lenses and are painful as hell but i have to wear them in order to see.

You will probably need some type of contact or scleral lens correction for the
eye with the transplanted cornea.
