Really nice - and just for the record, this is the jig tune that forms the second half of "Mr. O'Connor", song number 113 of Carolan's tunes as compiled by Donal O'Sullivan. I think it works really well to play the jig by itself this way. Bravo.
thanks so much for your kind words!... glad you like it!... in this piece there is the past, with O'Carolan, and the present, with Soïg Sibéril, a great breton guitarist... here I'm only a performer!... ahahah!...
Hey Luca.. Speaking of soothing music. This piece of music among others is helping a friend right now through some very rough and sad times. He and his wife lost their little 4 months old baby. So in his name I have been told to thank you!
I'm really sorry for your friends unfortunately these are things that happen I hope that in future they can have best fortune My best wishes of heart,
If I listen to all your post and if I comment most of them, I will a VERY tired individual , cause it will take me a big part of the night!! :) You just found a new fan of your breathtaking guitar playing!
okay, yesterday it was Facebook being messed up today it is Youtube's turn.. My comment is gone.. I said that " l'insouciance" was also a nice piece of music and that it had landed in my favorite list. The dilemma now is : Which version sounds better? cannot come up with a result yet, haha. I guess we will make it a head to head finish. :)
Terence Charles is O'Carolan's name in English! More often known as Terry Charles to folkies... the joke being that much O'Carolan's music is European, not 'Irish'. Ireland has always absorbed fashions, it just keeps them alive a little longer. When we play jigs and reels from Ireland, we are often playing the music of England, Scotland, France, Italy - everywhere - from 250 years ago. Today we call it Celtic, once it was just music.
Another ambitious one to handle! I am not familiar with Siberil's arrangements, I guess I should be. O'Carolan was heavily influenced by Italian dance music which was in fashion in Ireland at the turn of the 17th/18th centuries. Now would it sound English if it was credited to Terence Charles instead of Turlough O'Carolan?
thank you very much for your so kind words: it's really beautiful what you say me!... but this celtic piece comes from Soïg Sibéril: he is the true inspirer!...
Pete è molto gentile nel far arrivere agli amici i miei video... e tu sei sempre così prodiga di apprezzamenti nei miei confronti: grazie di cuore!...
