Don't get me wrong I was a huge Pride fan but look at all these fighters now they're all trash. They went pass their prime way too early, many of them are in their early or mid 30's. Pride was expose for what a joke it was. Because of steriod use, Yakuza, fixed fights, vague weight classes, and the native born Japanese fighters sucking so bad Japanese MMA is pretty much dead now. The UFC won the war and now the top Japanese fighters are going to the UFC for more money.

you fail to see the obvious truth that the rules, or lack there of have a huge impact on fights & outcomes! e.g. Baroni vs Suloev, had that been without "unified rules"? Amar wins in the 1st by 4point attacks. How about Shogun vs Coleman 2? in Japan it ends in the very 1st as well, by soccer kicks; and there would of been no speculation on Rua's conditioning. All that in unison with superior 10min. 1st rd! Something these ufc reality show fighters would know nothing about.

I'm from the states and i like watching the UFC, but for me atleast it still doesn't compare to the cards put on by pride. specially at the Grand Prix. the 03 GP had atleast 5 matches were would have been UFC main events. The UFC puts on usually two big name fights with several undercarders. But i've never seen a single card near as packed with stars and legends like in Pride events. heck this one had 3 or 4 matches that'd be mainevents for UFC

I know there were shows other than 03 with rediculously better cards than the UFC. I was just using 03 as an example. Though i'll never say the UFC isn't MMA.

They did what they had to do in changing rules in order to get matches sanctioned in the states. without sanctioning there's no television deals, without tv deals it's very hard to gain a broader fan base. There'd always be hardcore fans, but that's not enough for any company to stay afloat.
