I got some problems

My webcam is built into my laptop, i must use a webcam, with my mom's digital camera, it looks crappy

I can't zoom with helium frog (or with the webcam period) so i gotta shove my laptop right up against the set AND put my laptop on a short table.

should i be filming like this, or buy another cheap webcam

I use Microsoft movie maker and a canon EO5 to my stop motion movies and I find it works the same as yours if you set it to 20 frames per second. Thanks for the advice though!!!

@thegangstajack In my stopmotions so far I have used a digital Kodak camera in my stopmotions. But, I recently switched to a Sony Camcorder that takes pictures and everything is much, much better. There is a popular stopmotioner on here, Zoot101, who used a webcam in a few videos but decided to go to a Sony camcorder with better quality so it really depends on the camera. But if you have money to spare, buy a webcam or camcorder. That's my advice. (I'm not pizzamovies.)
