Actually Mr Mason doesn't dismiss the Round House (concentrate somebody!), and any missinformation he gives was what he was told to say in this gem of a film.........
OK, I have to bite: Why would anyone in England have cared about the Viet Nam war?? As an American, I have seen British TV shows and movies where they talk about where they were when JFK was shot: I would bet very few Americans even knew who the Prime Minister of the UK was, in November of 1963. The sad part is that even fewer of us would care. Is America just that stupid, and if so, what caused this stupidity to take root??
ryko26: I agree. What does James Mason's dimissing the Roundhouse have to do with its surviving? Was the actor that influential with British Rail?
The "rather superior Mr. Mason treads his shiny brown brogues, etc" - true, he might not have cared much for the poor, but it's repulsive how the voiceover, in Street-Porter/Tony Blair-style, tries to ingratiate herself with the viewer: "Yes, I'm all for the kids, the working clartheth, don't ya know, etc". Let her renounce all worldly goods then-HA!

"Superior!!!" It's called CLASS darling, something the rubbish who work for the BBC would know very little about...

@priapus56 To be fair, the voiceover was from ITV..I think the BBC still beats them. I'm currently listening to the BBC Proms. Enough class?
