  • muy buen video amigoo

  • at 1.37 rockn'roll is absolutely wrong. it was just next decade.

  • great video, i love IL-2 serie

(but "Johnny B. Goode" is anachronistic ;-)

  • Il2 has been out for almost 10 years now and still has the standard benchmark in ww2 flight simming.

  • excellant! Better than the Memphis Belle movie, by far!

  • damn this was nice!! btw if you want, you check out my squadrons new b17 movie.

    w-w-w-youtube(dot)com/watch?v=icO_LukbaU4&feature=player_embedded

  • how beautiful war can be :`( :) one of the best il2 vids ive ever seen!!! subsribed you. :) did you use mods, can someonetell me with what programm have you recordet and edit it?:))

  • @JaguarKinG95 He used Fraps to record the footage. He either used Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional or Adobe Premire Professional 7.0 to edit the clips and VirtualDub to compress the megabyte size of the video.

    Hope that helped.

  • I got a very bad headache after watching this film.

  • Very nice post production.

  • Great video editing. Have you ever played B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty Eighth? I think it's neck and neck with combat flight sim quality, maybe better graphics.

  • pls name song 1:24

  • @TheDzigi94 johnny be good

  • @carnage2681 Thx :D

  • Better than any game intro I have ever seen!

  • Man, you should do a "refit" of this great Video in Il2-1946 with the newest effect mods....this would look twice as epic as this !

  • really like the chuck berry ten years before it was recorded...

  • idk i didn't see the B-17's shooting back. I've played IL-2 and i know if you put any US heavy bomber above retarded ai lvl the gunners will shred you alive.

  • @jinto1980 yeah its a bitch, seems like your miles away, and the gunners are already putting holes in your cannopy xD

  • Impressive. It looks like the old newsreels!

  • Klasse gemacht!

  • Bravo! Encore, encore!

  • Good video but after thai wantet to see targert on fire

  • Moin Gott, das Video ist Kunst!

I love it, I see it again and again.

  • johnny be good in 1943?

  • how do i fly a b-17 in an flight simulator game and be able to fight and do missions

  • wow

    you fail

Which game? Some games have em default others you have to download em. And to fight and do missions? PRESS THE BUTTON THAT LETS YOU DO IT.

  • What an absolutely brilliant video!

  • @FlyFreebirdYeah Yeah - this is astoundingly good.

  • best vide out there!!!awesome!!

  • G-R-E-A-T VIDEO!!!!!!The music goes percectly with the video,nice part at the beginning,exactly like 1943,amazing video,just amazing

  • Holy crap, that was amazing.

  • man that is so boring awsome!!!!! by that i meant good

  • AWESOME!

  • greatest il 2 vid ive ever seen

  • That was so impressively realistic looking. Great job making it the way you did.

  • Impressive video. I liked the ominous environment at the beginning with the garbled FDR radio speech and the big band music seguing into Johnny B. Goode (admittedly incorrect era, but effective). I was most impressed with how the entire video resembled actual WWII-era film, black and white graininess and all. I was amazed to read this was accomplished with the IL-2 game. Did you make special modifications to the game or was the IL-2 game completely stock? Thanks for posting!

  • Dunno, but it's cheap now........just buy it

  • Great vid, good work!

  • Beautiful, lol, but it is.

  • Where can I find this flight simulator? I want to fly the B-17.

  • I hate to ruin your hopes, but the B-17 isn't a flyable model in the game.

  • You must download a patch than is flyable. =)

  • Which patch? Wolfkiessel says it is not flyable? A link would help. :)

  • Ehm you can buy Il-2 1946 than is fly able or IL2-FB patch (1.22).

  • Hey, thanks. Can't wait to try it out!

  • but how then did he make this vid?

  • you can fly the b17 if you install mods from allaircraftarcade(.)com

  • Sorry fail plane its not the B-17 i mean B-25.

    Sorry =)

  • That sucks. The B-25 has two engines, not four like the B-17. How was this video made then with a B-17?

  • Those are AI planes, the game is controlling them.

If you get the AAA mod it is flyable, I think it is great.

  • Tolles Video!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW It´s a beautiful Video

  • hey i know the sounds in the beginning (roosevelt...) they are from the Game "Fighter squadron -screaming demons over europe"...cool vid 5 stars

  • Seriously, is that computer graphics. Excellent video.......good game, never bought IL2

  • no its not it edited but the game look great to

  • almost video!!! om so good

  • Fantastic video!

  • Hey wow, what program did you use for recording?

  • It's an ongoing argument...0_0

  • I'm SOOOOOOOOO glad I moved on from CFS3 to IL-2. unbeleivable improvement.

  • Outstanding editing. Well done.

  • that was amazing,

    very well put together

    i want this game now

  • .... Just beautiful work, great job... the filters, the clipping, I just can't imagine how much time you spent on this... keep it up

  • One of the best vids on youtube great work

  • are you using a mod?

  • Great video

sometimes it looks like real ww2 footage.

  • Künstlerisch wertvoll !

  • you make like real history.

  • Nice Work! excellent movie.

what's the song called at 3:43

  • Oh, wait

    it's in the credits

  • Apocalyptica - Hope

  • Comment removed

  • nice job 10/10

  • i cant find B-17 in IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, Help?

  • I wish there would be a movie made half as good as this on, it would then be twice as good as any WWII air combat movie ever made, hehe

  • n i c e

  • in witch il2 it gives B17

  • Impressive movie there, i enjoyed all of it.

  • nice

  • Genial when i first time watch this movie it have only 5000 views :P

  • i was going to mention the Johnny B good (the rock song in the beginning) would be from the wrong era at first. I think it might have been a artistic choice but i think that song is from the late 50's early 60's, so it might fit more with B-52's (damn that bird's been flying a long time)

  • Hi DrPlankton

OMG that was epic, just like watching a real film.

How do you get those amazing camera angles?

    5*****

    Respect:D

    Keith..

  • nice job

  • Theres 11+ men in each of the Flying Forts, they know that the air force expects them to live only 3-4 flying missions, and most of them are under 25. The bravery of soldiers in WW2 was inconcievavble. Evreyone knew the superiority of a Tiger over a Sherman, or any Allied tank, yet still they went against them. How a man, that just made it into adaulthood, probably has a girlfriend waiting at home, and knows how badly the favour is stacked in the enemies favour still goes and fights is amazing.

  • The Tiger tank wasn't so superior when the average odds on the battlefield were 40 Shermans to 4 Tigers. Similiarly the Bf 109 wasn't so great against the B-17 when it was 300 B-17s versus 60 Bf 109s.

  • Thats the idea of numbers...

    1 tiger vs 4 shermans

only 1 sherman will get out alive

  • more than 1 if they move and shoot tiger didn't aiming sight 4 a moveing target like sherman

  • The tiger had 1,4 kilometers to hit the sherman, the tiger was usualy hiding on a vantage point crewed by the most crack SS tank crews...

Shermans gyro-stabilizors dont make them harder to hit -_-

  • @ChaplainDMK 40.000 Shermans built, 1000 Tiger 1 built = fair deal.

  • @GendPzTrSchmidt 50,000 were built

  • @ChaplainDMK depends on where they fight

  • yes only big distance the tiger was the best.

The king tiger was almost to heavy for a tank easy to bomb. If you want to win a war you have to have airsupperiority! The germans have the best planes but far to less then the allies that is why germany lost good but to little.

  • Allies won by mass production. Germans had air superiority until the rest of the world joined in on dday.

King tiger used an too weak engine.

Tactics during dday were to hide from planes using camo. With some succes. But it sucks. You can't beat spam.

  • the problem with the tiger wasnt the engine, it had a MASSIVE engine, its just that it was sooo heavy, some had massive side sheets as well as the regular armor.

  • tiger engine just fine it the transmission that was ment 4 lighter tanks that sucked

  • Where did you hear that?

Germans didnt have air superiority against the western allies since late 42', and the luftwaffa was decimated on the russian front.

And many german planes were inferior to the allied Mustangs and Jugs, altough the Me262 was preaty good altough mostly used in anti bomber missions.

German bombers were a disgrace... Totaly specialised for blitzkrieg, very ineffective for anything more then bombing enemy formations

  • Hear what?

Luftwaffe was a joke after America joined in, but to them it was national pride. You can't say they sucked, because they didn't. They were good at what they were supposed to do. Blitz. And blitzing relies on bombing suplies and strong spots in the front line.

  • America had little to do with destroying the luftwaffe, most of the credit (like most things in WW2) goes to the russians, alot to the brits too.

By the time US joined the war the Lufftwaffe was limping badly...

  • You said it yourself. The mustangs just murdered them.

Before the mustangs they were not out matched alot. Just out numbered.

Plus, the only real blow came when allies decided to strafe german airfields, destroying planes before they could take off.

RAF had not much to do with air combat before america gave them the mustangs and other heavy fighters.

  • Mustangs were good but they didnt beat the Luftwaffe, and the RAF played a huge role in defeating the Luftwaffe...

But both USAAF and RAF had preaty minor roles compared to the Red Air Force, and the strafing of german airfields came at overlord, probably destroying only 300 planes

  • 300 planes is not just a few. And not just planes were lost. They disabled complete airfields.

Before the mustang RAF didn't have long distance fighters. Just bombers.

  • Before the Rolls Royce Merlin the P51 was crap...

And 300 is very little considering the allies had 10000 planes

  • The Germans didn't have 10000 planes. Especially not at that time. Strafing delivered the final blow to the luftwaffe.

  • The allies had 10000 planes...

    300 vs 10.000...

    Figure out the odds yourself

  • Do you ever read before posting a comment?

    I didn't even mention a 300 against 10000 odd.

You're mixing up made-up destroyed planes with made-up allied planes.

  • "The Germans didn't have 10000 planes. Especially not at that time. Strafing delivered the final blow to the luftwaffe. "

    2 posts down

  • If you'd actually read it then you'd know i didn't compare the two.

  • I said germans had 300 planes and allies had 10000 planes, you said germans didnt have 10000 planes...

    Whats wrong in this picture?

  • @samipso

I think you mean long range escorts, because they had some great Fighter planes. The spitfire, Hurricane.

The hurricane is my personal favorite. I use it often in CFS III the 4 cannons shred other planes and can easily destroy destroyers and transport craft in the English channel. It is slow and less agile than the spitfire but it can also carry larger payloads.

  • Accurate number is 20 shermans versus 1 tiger. But they deployed on so many.

But you can't compare tanks with bombers and fighters.

Bombers have guns all over them. It takes time to kill them. But i am stating the obvious here..

  • "Evilone5234, Nazi Germany started to giving up only in 1945, after 2 yrs of bombing!" Germany is a small country... and the US was never bombed, now was it.

  • Honors and remebership to the brave Pilots of the 8th US-Airforce, flying over an huge area with tousands of enemy fighter plans and flak posiotions......But.......also Honor to our brave german fighter pilots, starting again every day against an much more well equipped enemy in larger numbers to protect their home Country.....Honor to all Pilots of all Nations serving their country in WW2 !!!

  • I fully support your speech!

    Regards, Flight Leiutant Berrisford!

(I am a RAF Typhoon Fighter Pilot)

  • Evilone5234, Nazi Germany started to giving up only in 1945, after 2 yrs of bombing!

  • Very great vid

    Super vidéo

  • I thought the video was realy good till the music started playing.the first was all low sound and eery kinda kreepie and cool

  • to be honest both the daylight and night bombing campaigns where not as effective as people like to believe

noticed how bombing by night bombers only hardned peoples resolve to fight harder, take the battle of britian for example during the blitz it just made us fight harder and resist

day bombing was just as ineffective since by the time american bombers came most of german industry was building its war machine underground safe from bombing

bombing was really a show of hitting back

  • It made the civilians want to give up...

Who wants to have a 250+ pound bomb land on their face?

  • did us Brits give up when Hitler bombed us no it didnt just made us fight harder

  • Bombing proved to be not much of the threat to civilians anymore after they're used to it.

Example: Britain 1940, the city was bombed everyday and it was like a routine to the civilians because they're used to it, they know how to deal with it

  • a very good point, iff my house was bombed i would want to kick the person responsible up the arse

  • fantastic!

  • Nice Video

  • Excuse me? I don't own any 'bragging rights', since I didn't fight in World War II.

However, the Lancaster did, undeniably, cause more damage than any other.

    Ahem, Dresdon, anyone?

  • That's pathetic how you brag about an atrocity like the bombing of Dresden.

  • Such atrocities destroyed the Third Reich.

  • yeah, and the world is so much better now because of it.

The winners write the History books

  • So you would have approved if Germany had won, and continued their own atrocities? The Holocaust lasted but for a few years, give it 60, and the world would be in a sorry state.

Find a better place to express your Neo-Nazism.

  • The Third Reich could have been destroyed without incinerating the civilian population of Dresden in the closing days of the war. The "writing was on the wall" in 1945. Buring the city of Dresden was unnecessary.

  • AWESOME CLIP ;)

    REALLY GOOD!!!!!

Kann es sein der letzte Song von Subway oder ähnlichem ist?

  • Wow!! Very good video althought I don't think yuo could have shot down a B-17 so easily

  • actually they can look at the wings of the 109's they have 2 Mk 108 gunpods those are 30mm (configuration U5 for the Bf-109 G6 inside the game)+ 1 MG151/20 *20mm* firing trough the propeller, what you may want to check is the IA and iff all B17's are fully loaded cuz I see some of them arent firng and the 109's are getting way too close to the formation, have a nice day

  • you could have with 30 MM

    takes about 2 shots

  • very nice job

Amazing how some of the clips looks like real life footage

  • Meh, Lancaster beats this any day.

  • Meh, Lancaster beats this any XXX NIGHT, not day.

  • The Lancaster had a payload of 22,000 pounds. The B-17 usually carried 7000.

The Lancaster caused more damage than any other aircraft.

  • 22,000 pounds? That didn't happen til 1945 with the specially modified Lanc's and the grand slam bomb of which only 41 were dropped.

The 17 was 5 and a half years before the Lanc.-(still respect it, just don't like you bashing 17's) and was a forerunner to the B-29. Remember that one? It ended the damn war and proved it could carry two grand slams.

  • That was for the grandslam, the Tall Boy did not require modification, and two could be carried...other than that, 4000-12,000 pound Cookies could be carried...

I wouldn't say the B-29 ended the war...Japan was on its knees at the time, and the third Reich had collapsed...on top of that, the two bombs really just needed a testing ground; Nonetheless, the B-29 still didn't cause as much damage as the Lancaster, overall.

  • "Just needed a testing ground"?

Any idea how many POW's Japan held/would have killed as food became scarce prior to the planned invasion (Op. Downfall)? These weren't just American POW's either.

Keep your Lancaster if that is your nationality/plane. The more rugged B-17 was flying over Europe with more men and ammo (figure that in damage counts)than most bombers when no other American big bomber was available. Winston welcomed a lifeline, you on the other hand enjoy pissing up a rope.

  • More men and more ammo does not exceed the payload of the Lancaster, and a 'lifeline' cost a 99 year airbase loan.

    Mercenaries, you could say.

  • Only 99 years?

Visit France and see the ground us "mercenaries" permanently took after helping you and France push back the Germans. (hint) It's been renamed "Normandy American Cemetery." Would you like to trade those lives/your little airbase for all the bases in Northern France that Germany was using to terrorize London?

  • The Battle of Britain had ended by the time America intervened.

  • And then came the terror attacks, no? V1's and V2 rockets. What bunker never to be completed in Eperlecques, France are you now going to dismiss as an inconsequential outcome of the joint Allied invasion at Normandy that your previous countrymen seemed none to proud to spill their blood along side the American "mercenaries?"

  • Grr, my point is, without being sidetracked by irrelevance, is the the Lancaster was a far greater, more successful aircraft than the B-17.

The V2 was barely used and the V1 was hardly a threat, considering it could be intercepted. Britain would still hold even after further attack from Nazi Germany; the US has proven in the Vietnam war, and was further backed by Russia's invasion of Afghanistan, that a world superpower cannot occupy a small country that doesn't want it there.

  • Grr, my point is it sounds to me like you didn't want Americans there either. "Mercenaries?"...come on.

The Lancaster flew mostly at night and used newly pioneered radar (nice technology Britain) to hit the target. The B-17 flew during the day and brought up many fighters- more actively engaging German planes and pilots. Yeah, the Lancaster carried more, but the OLDER 17, relied on the very accurate Norden bomb sight and needed that armament if it was going to make it to/hit the target.

  • Not having Americans around would waste more human life, surely, even if they were payed to be there. Being paid to intervene is the role of a mercinary.

Immense accuracy, arguably from the Norden, would defeat the object of area bombing with thousend aircraft raids...for tactical bombing, we had the Mosquito, which could carry just about as much as a B-17 usually did...

  • Mosquito, probably a finer plane than the Lancaster. Like the B-17 (which could carry up to 17,500 pounds of bombs) or any plane for that matter stuffed with ordinance, range begins to suffer unless extra fuel is somehow added.

With that in mind, what WWII plane was capable of carrying 20,500 pounds of bombs in a 3600 mile mission- double the combat radius of the Lancaster carrying 14,000 pounds?

    Ans. The B 29.

BTW Japan didn't want to be occupied either but look how well that went.

  • And quit with the Destroyers for Bases/mercenaries argument. I didn't expect you to have anything good to say about WWII America, but so goes the nature of one ally's arguments. 99 years lease are almost up though. Maybe by some strange twist 33 years from now one of them will end up converted to a cemetery. Have you considered cremation or burial yet?

  • Its amazing this video it has real clips but it also has animation its awsome i give 2 thumbs up!

  • I don't think this had any real life clips, all done in IL2.

  • wow! this is a really good vid! and apocaliptyca sounds really good!

  • Aww, its gone!

  • what is the song in the fight scene i like it

  • 'No Education' by Apoclyptica.

  • Yeah thx i found it already though

  • Really nice video good work

  • i have il2fb and pacific battels but l can t fly with b17.b24 and b29 plese answer why l cant

  • Because they are AI only. He probably did this online after editing a .mis.

  • wanna drive a jeep (b 17 XD) try b17 FF the might eight, little old and graphic not the state of art, but really complicate crew and airplane management.. realistic norden bombsight aiming and belive me a giant map (3/4 of england whole germny and france and north

italy) with a lot of targets .. you can also pilot p51,38,47; 109', 190' and the 262' if you want with, evry aircraft have the manual start up sequance (if you want) and a lot of working stuffs in cockpit ^^

  • I actually loved the fight scene music! Come on people, it could have been worse. He could have just through in Linkin Park like so many other videos here on YouTube.

  • the b-17, b-24, b-29 and b-25 are my favorite ww2 bombers

  • what about the lancaster?

  • And the B-36 'Peacemaker'? It was the TRUE Nuclear Bomber, unlike that s of a b 29...

Never dropped a nuke in anger, but still by far the best bomber of the 1900's era. (Famous for itsa 1950 crash resulting in the first lost nuke of the world.)

  • Yeah the B-36 was one big plane

  • i think is il2 forgotten batlles ..tho in il2 pacific fighters you can fly the b25..and other medium range bomers

  • hi guys..sameone can tell me what is the version of il2 that i can fly whit heavy bomber like b-17 or b-29.....i have il2-1946 v.4!...thanks all

  • u cant, unless u use a mod

    sry

p.s. i love the music during the battle, it didnt matter if it wasnt ww2 era

  • too bad you can't go inside the cockpit of the B17 or B29 on IL2 :(

  • Great video. Despite what everyone else says, I think the music fits.

  • Coolest and most beautifull plane ever

  • sry but i love the music, its like a reality/what they make u think thing, the what they make u think part is the WW2 music, calmer, more in the mod, happy, then the grizzly reality of war, death, destruction, suffering, witch rock makes feal a lot better, try puting some WW2 music where u got the air battle part

  • the music isn't THAT bad....
