They are not silver, but they are steel and around 1 billion were made in Philadelphia, Denver, San Fransisco mints. No penny minted for circulation has ever been made of silver. Depending on the condition they are worth 25-50 cents unless you have mint state, proof, or a misprint.
lol 1-150 depending on condition 40 s fake if it was you'd have to be rich to get them first second they made a couple million steel pennies not silver he ripped u off big!
There is no way there are 40. there is like 902 million and the only rare ones are the copper pennies from that year which there werent supposed to be any they were mad by accident. Also they are not silver they are steel and they will rust so take good care of them
There is no way there are 40. there is like 902 million and the only rare ones are the copper pennies from that year which there werent supposed to be any they were mad by accident
902 mill. is about accurate they made them all through 1943 at all 3 mints P, S , D
San Fransico
Denver
Philadelphia
Ive been collecting coins for 13 years now and have of 100 steel pennies. They lied to you average price for one in good shape (not registered) 0.79 cents.
the silver ones arent worth shit, sorry kid.theres only 48 copper ones from 1943 because they were made on accident because copper was needed for wepons in ww2
they discontiued using copper to conserve during WW2. they went to steel with a zinc protective plating.. so those are not silver. but the rarest ones are the 40 or so that got accidentally minted with regular copper in them( i think?)... however a stash was found in the basement of the grandson of a man who worked in the mints who ,instead of resmelting the bag of wrongly minted copper coins, stole and stashed them in his basement.: the 40 rare turned into 17,000 rare so the price deprecited
Are you referring to the steel 1943 penny? Or the copper struck 1943 penny. In the first case, there's about 9.3 million...so face value is about 40 to 50 cents today. The copper struck pennies are incredibly rare, there were only a few struck...I'd say 100 or less (purely a guess) and have fetched around a million dollars or so.
they are steel and they're not rare. I have a few. What you might be confused with is the COPPER 1943 penny. Only a small amount of them were minted. These are legends of coin collecting if you will. Put a magnet against it to test it.
Silver-colored, magnetic pennies, like the ones you have, are made of STEEL. There were around a billion of those made. Occasionally you will find one. They are worth a few dollars at most.
The rare one is the 1943 penny that DOES NOT stick to a magnet and is COPPER-colored. They are VERY rare as they were a mistake to even have been made. There are only 40 known COPPER 1943 pennies. They would probably be worth $10,000 or more.
i hope they are real and if they are let me know so i know my chances of finding one just became even less possible. but if you get them apraised get multiple opinons, no ofense but you sound young make sure your paretns or someone you trust that is an adult is there to back you up in case some greedy basterd trys some sneaky stuff on ya
i only know from what i have seen on youtube here however from what i have heard there are alot of fakes out there. if all of those are real then you probly just became worth a million bucks....you can buy you own country now, assuming the are all real. best thing you can do is et them apraised look up somethig in your local yellow pages but be carefull domnt let someone tell you there fake and take them from you or something, get multiple apraisels
oh and those were made out of steel so they could make bullets in ww2

Alfacuria 1 year ago
the 1943 cents were not made out of silver, they were made out of zinc plated steel, thus the reason why they stick to a magnet.
there are about 40-50 copper 1943 cents made because some dumb ass at the mint did not change the blanks.
sooooo, the 43 steel cent is worth about 11 cents if it is in nice condition and not rusted. BUT the 43 copper cent is worth about 500,000
