  • I bet that car fu@#in RIPSSSSS........ what a master piece

  • ah yes you guys are the best, when money comes rolling in after a bank job i'll be looking for ripsnz

  • when are you going to tune 2jz engines?

  • When they say RB30, does that mean its a RB26 with a Stroker kit to 3.0L?

  • No, its a factory RB30 block which is taller than the RB26.

  • @RIPSNZ Is it an rb30 from an old holden with a 25 head

  • @bmxseanbmx No, Its a skyline RB30 with 26 head.

  • how ya running 30psi of boost on the street, surely not using normal pump fuel. what sorta timing does the motor still have at such high boost

  • 30 psi is no problem with a well tuned engine on 98 pump gas if the compression ratio is correct etc.

  • I mean didnt you make an RB33? Thats what I mean will you make an RB33 Stroker kit for the RB30?

  • yes we have done RB33 with a billet stroker crank but it was very time consuming and very expensive, its "possible" to do another but maybe not practicle when the RB30s do more than most people ever need.

  • "mid-mount turbo"....haha.....its actually still classified as low-mount!

  • Awesome cheers, seeing as your clearly in "the know" can you tell me at what point a low mount becomes a mid and at what point a mid becomes a high, or at what point a low becomes a high?

  • its actually more to do with the orientation of the exhaust manifold.... turbo HANGING off the flange = low mount

turbo SITTING ON the flange = high mount

    : )

  • Ah, so a stock RB20 or RB25 would be a side mount then?

  • no, low mount....coz the majority of the turbo is below the flange.

  • Hahaha, ok, sweet as.

I'd still say regarless of orientation, its more to do with how high the turbo is relative to the motor, low= low mount, mid = mid mount, high = high mount.

My point was that we have done the exhaust manifold on this motor different to any we had made before, it wasn't the same as low mount or high mount, hence mid mount but hey whatever you want to call it is fine. cheers.

  • Nice comb over by the way :-) you sure your not related to Borat?

  • u wish u had a comb over like me!

  • since you guys already built an RB33 stroker motor is the crank a billet crankshafts. Do you think you guys will ever make an RB30 Stroker Kit?

  • The RB30 is available stock, no need for a stroker to get RB30.

  • oh and nearly forgot, heard you mention good oil pump, what is your preference?

  • tomei usually

  • what crank do u use??

have u thought about stroking them out to 3.3 litres??

  • stock cranks in the RB30s and we have done a RB33 already

  • your using a stock 1987-88 crank?!?!

shouldnt u be using a forged-steel item for those kinda power levels??

  • Lol, no. We use stock cranks to 1200hp and 9500rpm no problem at all and there's plenty of guys who rev stock RB cranks alot higher than that. One GTR in Aussie is down to 7.8 on a stock crank.

Untill we break one we'll keep using them.

  • I heard that the R32 GTR cranks are crap.....and that its better to slot in a R33/R34 item if making 350+rwkw.

And since the R32 design is newer than RB30.....i just naturally thought the RB30-crank would be even worse!

  • You obviously heard wrong then :-)

  • so are the cranks axactly the same??

Why do guys use R33 cranks when rebuilding their R32??

  • Nothing to do with how much power they can take.

Jump on a forum and ask as many questions as you like, I can't tell you how/why we do things sorry.

  • sure u can.

We're all friends here......theres no need to keep secrets :)

  • Drive for the oil pump is wider on the r33 on cranks and less likely to cause oil pump failure.

Yes the rb30 crank has the narrow drive, yes you can buy a wider drive to fit to the crank.

    Cheers

  • hey rips, dont you loose throttle response by going from a mutli throttle to a single throttle body?, obviously intake restriction is much lower using one throttle body. or is this less apparent on the 30s compared to the 26s? . cheers mate , love your work!

  • We usually run single TB, even in the drift and track motors and I've never noticed any lack of response which would be anything to do with plenim or TB.

Maybe theoreticly the 6 pack could respond quicker but not that I have noticed when driving.

  • this is a street car!!

  • Maybe your right, those were the reporters words not mine and I was a bit uncomfortable when I saw that on the video, each to their own and it was obviously his opinion at the time.

  • For the money, RIPS may well be the best in the world. I dare you to go to Top Secret and not pay over 150,000 USD for a full high spec build.

  • Great allround streetcar

  • insane
