I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION. DONT JUDGE ME I DONT KNOW ALOT ABOUT CARS BUT....HOW THE HELL DO YOU MAKE THE CAR GET UP TO 60 MPH IN SECOND GEAR????.....THAT DOPE!!!
I got one of these for free. 2002MY. Sounds very similar. Managing 34 mpg and the trans is on its way out. First to second is harsh, second to third slips unless you increase throttle and line pressure, and third to overdrive hangs unless you let off the gas, or it just shoves itself into torque converter lockup and falls on its face lol. I love the car though just because the mpg and it was free.
That's slow. I've driven a 5 speed ZX2 and it is way faster than that. Your first mod should be a 5 speed conversion, it will shave 2-3 sec off your 0-60 time and net you better gas mileage.
i have a 2000 zx2 s/r and mine gets to 60 in second gear. it should be a little quicker then that but then again mine has more power then the regular zx2. but have fun with the car, and some notice able cheap mods is to change out the piping and the intake. the s/r comes with a nice intake that i would suggest, mine is the "iceman" intake. not sure were you live but they take great to a turbo if you really want more fun out of it

I got one for free from a cousin (who severely abused the poor thing) and the only thing that is bad about it is that the tranny (automatic) needs to warm up before it will shift smoothly. Other than that, it's still going strong at 116k mileage.
oh and i got over 235,000miles onmine so it's a great car to have if you plan on keeping it for a while. i redline mine almost daily to 7,000rpm and still running strong. just be awear of weak transmittions in both manuals and automatics. something about the 3rd gear. but if properly maintained it will last you a good while.
i own an 98 ford zx2 5speed manual with only an k&n air filter and mine runs 0-60 in 7.2 seconds and the quarter in 16.1 at 89mph. watching the video i noticed your is an automatic and acourding to zx2 forums i've read the automatics are very noticiably slower.
ROFL, love the comparison the car has less than 150Hp and 140 Tq vs your F350 with 300+hp and 450+ Tq, that's like putting a corvette against a prius.
Man i bought a stock 2000 zx2 and i've put a full stereo system, expensive new paint job, underbody and interior lights. Point is, it's a nice looking car so I make it look nicer, but it's definitely not a fast car so I don't bother making it fast.

Clearly you've never experienced a really dirty fuel filter. A vehicle that needs a new fuel filter will do EXACTLY what he was describing. Do yourself a favor and stick with reviewing software.

i had ford zx2 3 years ago I n never have seen before 0 60 so slow with one zx2 stock with my i beat a vr6 and gsr stock 1 2 3 any time 7200 rpm per shift
according to the video timer, that was about 11 seconds... I've got a 99 Escort Sedan, and last time I did a 0-60 test it took about 11 seconds as well. What engine do you have in your ZX2? Mine is the 2.0 SPI engine, only modification is intake.
i've got the DOHC, 130HP engine with a K&N air filter in it.. thats it but like i said i didn't stomp it right away so maybe that affected it. i'm wondering.. did you put the intake for gas mileage?
oh, well i'm only 16 and i don't got a job.. mine has 116k as you can see on it so i don't wanna stick a lot of money into it. although i think the first thing i will do is put a new stereo in it if i do.
I considered doing some work on mine to further increase the performance, but the stock engine can't be made much better without dropping a lot of money on it. so I'd just stick with the stereo upgrade lol.
ya thats what i'm thinking too.. with most upgrades you have to upgrade other things to get maximum performance out of the first upgrade and after awhile you've stuck all your money into that. i don't exactly know how they swap the stereo out because the ac and all that is connected to the stereo setup.
yea i wouldnt put money into it, i would just save up for a new car, well new to you anyways. You can get a good fox body mustang 89-93 for about $4000 or less and then put money into that. Fox body mustang parts are very cheap.
@JbrowZX2 I have a 99 ZX2 and they just put in a stereo above my AC and stuff. I do not know what it looked like before but they seem separate. I don't know if this will help since it has been two years but I already wrote it.
@JbrowZX2 hey man i have a '99 zx2 and to swap out the stereo like i did in mine you need to buy the faceplate adaptor. check out my video to see what you need. you can find the faceplates at autozone/ ebay for about 50$.

God DAMN you are a dumb motherfucker. Clogged fuel filter does not mean completely blocked. You would definitely notice something before the filter gets completely clogged, and you would start by replacing your fuel filter, UNLESS YOU ARE A COMPLETE FUCKHEAD. (i.e. YOU)

according to the video timer, that was about 11 seconds... I've got a 99 Escort Sedan, and last time I did a 0-60 test it took about 11 seconds as well. What engine do you have in your ZX2? Mine is the 2.0 SPI engine, only modification is intake.

i've got the DOHC, 130HP engine with a K&N air filter in it.. thats it but like i said i didn't stomp it right away so maybe that affected it. i'm wondering.. did you put the intake for gas mileage?

I considered doing some work on mine to further increase the performance, but the stock engine can't be made much better without dropping a lot of money on it. so I'd just stick with the stereo upgrade lol.

ya thats what i'm thinking too.. with most upgrades you have to upgrade other things to get maximum performance out of the first upgrade and after awhile you've stuck all your money into that. i don't exactly know how they swap the stereo out because the ac and all that is connected to the stereo setup.

yea i wouldnt put money into it, i would just save up for a new car, well new to you anyways. You can get a good fox body mustang 89-93 for about $4000 or less and then put money into that. Fox body mustang parts are very cheap.

@JbrowZX2 I have a 99 ZX2 and they just put in a stereo above my AC and stuff. I do not know what it looked like before but they seem separate. I don't know if this will help since it has been two years but I already wrote it.

@JbrowZX2 hey man i have a '99 zx2 and to swap out the stereo like i did in mine you need to buy the faceplate adaptor. check out my video to see what you need. you can find the faceplates at autozone/ ebay for about 50$.
