Second off they reviewed the goal before the refs even left the ice, so Stars won sabres whine and bitch years later because they know they're not going back to the finals any time soon because their lines still suck and they can't ride Hasek anymore.

I hated the 99 season so much. Every team that year had 20 or so goals taken away from that stupid rule. It could have been 1 single inch in the crease on the opposite side and they would take away the goal.

enough already. go back and read the 1999 rule book. if your skate enters the crease before the puck but you have control of the puck as you enter the crease, it is not, repeat not, a crease violation. i saw this happen several times during the regular season and most times, the goal was counted. the reason the other goals were disallowed is due to referee interpretation of what is puck control. i know buffalo fans are pissed about getting so close to championships but it's still legal.

It's about who is the best on that given day. A standout goaltender is also the greatest equalizer in a big series and especially a big game 7. I don't even like either team but that goal was a goal by the old rules as even though his foot WAS in the crease the puck was never out of the crease, or out of Hull's possession. Back then rebounds, as well as his kick of the puck to his stick were considered possession. It's a shitty call that the judges had to make and regardless of the outcome one side would be pissed. They followed the rulebook.

You would have to look back at the offseason records of the NHL (which i do not have access to) but i remember the report coming on the local news saying: We made the wrong call and to cover our ass we are going to change the rule. They didn't follow the rulebook, that's why they changed it.
