  • @DatMoeFugga Nope, it's got twins. I now have a 385 forged engine with an ffi cam from ed curtis. And heads. Still just at 550. Honestly, the turbos are too small for the engine. Not pushing enough air I'm guessing. I'll work on it after Iraq.

  • You gotta admit, these year GTOs follow the musclecar formula to a T. RWD mid-sized car with a potent V8. The style of the body is just a matter of opinion. I think it looks like a Grand Prix, which gives it kind of a sleeper vibe. Of course it doesn't have the character of the original, but no car today accurately represents it. They may have the recipe of a muscle car, but not the brutish character of a solid lifter big block thru a 4 speed on narrow bias plies

  • rthomas34 I know what you mean about drone - I dropped the rear mufflers on my E500 - sounds wicked on the noise but low rpm in higher gears is gets right into the ear - which of course doesn't matter when your into it and toasting a rex or some other tryhard. Not into my Holdens (Australia) but well done on dropping a couple of snails on the old girl.

  • @keithjackson302 Agreed. Though it sounded much better outside. I got rid of the straight pipe set up and added some dynamax bullets. Much better noise now and has significantly cut down on drone.

    The thing is no matter how good it is it steps on what Makes a PMD GTO.

    It would be like PMD (RIP 78) building a car and naming it Holden Monaro with a Pontiac engine.

  • Rthomas, nice TT... is this the STS kit? Did you do it yourself or take it down to Utah? I've got an 05M6GTO myself and was considering a Procharger or Magnacharger, but the STS TT would give super crazy power by comparison. Did you do any driveline upgrades like solid driveshaft & thicker halfshafts? How much did it run you? Sorry for all the questions. :P

  • Thanks for the compliment.  The STS is a single rear-mounted kit. This is the GEN-TTR kit. I have upgrades out the wazoo. single piece drive-shaft, upgraded half-shafts, kaaz rear, harrops cover, pedders street II suspension package, etc. The only thing really left to do is mod the engine. Forge and re-tune. I also plan on doing a mini-tub once I get back from my next deployment.

    Pushrod engines do not suck, by far the push rod has been around much longer then OHCs.

    True efficiency is "better" with an OHC but adds more parts to an engine thus upping the percentage of a failure over an engine that has less moving parts like a pushrod engine.

    What current mass production engine makes more power then the current LS GM engine at the same general cost? Or by that matter Factory crate engine, even Fords Alumnator a MOD engine is barely comparable.

  • @ramairgto72 The Holden Monaro was NOT borne from the Commodore. Monaros have been on our roads since 1968. The first Commodore didn't roll off the production line until 1979.

    Holden is a world class car maker, the cars made by Aussies have been better then other cars makers with much more Money backing. The Holden "V" was a pinnacle in duel roll or "Pro Touring" "Drag" factory car. This car is an Aussie car, and the respect should be given to Holden, & not what it was falsely portrayed to be.

However, I must admit, I'm not a huge fan. Just not heavy enough for my taste. Producing more albums isn't their problem. All their music sounding the same is.

  • you do realize no one in australia wanted a monaro right...$60,000 car wasnt worth it to the aussies. so GM took a car that was about to go out of production, put the beating heart of an all american ls1 and t56 tranny, and sold more in the US than they could ever hope to sell in australia. also if they brought the monaro as it was with the price tag it had to the US, no one would buy one, sorry buddy, so cool your jets.

  • That's not right at all. Most people wanted one because they are an awesome re-incarnation of an aussie icon from 1968. Also, 3 years before the monaro was slightly altered to become the gto, it already had the ls1 and t56 courtesy of GM. And even with the pontiac badge, these cars were assembed by blokes called Wazza and Kev in a factory in south Aus. And they'd probably be pretty pissed off if everyone is calling them american cars. It's like calling a Bentley 'German' or a Jaguar 'Indian'...

  • look, Holden as a whole is an aussie devision of GM. GM has plants all over the world as does Ford. The Motor, tranny, and badges are GM USA. The suspension tuning and body are GM Australia. Either way you put it, its a GM car as a whole. Why do people always try to put divisions on things? Its an Epic GM car that will go down in history as one of "GM's" greatest accomplishments, not as America's or Aussie's. Its one of GM's best. Lets just leave it at that.

    Not one part of the Holden GTO was made in the US, the engines were cast in Canada and the rest was Holden! This was Holden's idea, and sold as something else! Holden's team didnt even see fit to use the word "Pontiac" on the car until more then half of the entire model run, and only after people bitched about what it was not!? I don't care what some suit says to sell cars, it's an Aussie import!

  • actually the car was first a project of Diamler Benz so...if it werent for them and ford streamlining the industrial age and the assembly line...then there wouldnt be one. However us americans pioneered the mod seen so we got that going for us.

One thing I do like about the bow-tie is how they kept their V8's push rod style. Ford sucks for doing overhead cams though I hear its good for power.   • 545 rwhp and roughly 547 lbs tq. The clutch was slipping pretty bad in 4th during the last couple runs. Replacing one of the turbos (leaking) and will get re-tuned. Not expecting much more though.

  • These aren't Ball Bearing Turbos. I am in the process of switching them out with some Garret BBs. They aren't huge turbo's either. Rather smallish, but I can guarantee there is a blow off valve! lol.

    thats not happening in a stock bottom ended ls2 tt or not. Awesome torque numbers.. I only make in the mid 500 and can't keep those 275's hooked at all till third.

    I've dashhawked mine down to a 3.8 0-60 but still with mega spin and a sideways second.

  • I got it from a company in Australia. Google Gen-TTR Turbos. They just started making a turbo that works with a blower! Some very tasty stuff.

    Do the clacilations for 5 th or 6th gear...no matter what hp... only in 6th is it nurmerically possible...but with much more HP Zo6 need an extra 200+ whp to go over 200

    and they stock run 198....it all in the claculations FAKE

  • an 89 mustang has 215hp at 3100 lbs. GTO's 400 hp at 3800 lbs. , So no stock for stock the GTO would win, you put some money in the mustang(which they make millions of performance items, cam, heads, stroker cranks,etc..) you could make up that difference because the fact of the matter is GTO's are heavy and mustangs are usually on the lighter side and weight makes a big deiffernce so if i were you i'd make it a goal to beat the 0-60 in 4.8 second mark and you got a stock LS2 GTO

  • I own an 06 GTO and most times on average, I get about 26mpg at about 75-80. At 60 you can get very close to 30mpg. But that can be tough, its hard not to put your foot on the floor...

Meanwhile their bottle of Mountain Dew has 2" I'd rather have my 5.0 V8 P.O.S. Ford Exploder over some inline-4 anyday really. Don't get me wrong though, those asians really do know how to drain every single hp they can get out of 4-cylinders. We Americans don't know how to do that yet, so we add superchargers or make bigger engines. I'm fine with that!

  • You're pretty funny kid. I'm an import owner and I'll set it straight for you since you have no idea. 1st of all, the LS V8s are known to get 30mpg on the highway with the 6 speed. Second, pushing 500whp through a FWD Civic is pointless (ever heard of torque steer?). Third, an STI gets about 16mpg.

  • An LS motor can make over 30whp from headers alone. Wanna know what my 99 Si makes with an aftermarket header? 6whp. SIX. It's a great car for everyday use since it's quick and gets good mileage due to making no low end power AT ALL, but to make big power out of it I'd need to boost hard and lose that along with the reliability. Get real man. You'll learn someday, or maybe not.

  • The LS2 6.0L V8 can get 30mpg on the highway. I saw it a few times in a video on youtube. The little screen thing  below the tachometer and the speedometer, it can show what milage you are getting.

  • i have an 05 gto. on the ride home, after buying it in maryland, it got about 28 mpg average according to the in-dash display, during MOSTLY highway driving. mine is a 6 speed also with only k&n filter and spintech catback.

  • Same here, '06 M6 GTO and I can get about 29 going 60. Best tank I ever got was 23, because lets face it, I can't keep it at 60.

  • Hey Jap crap listen up when you add a turbo to an american v8 it sounds like a beast. But when you add a turbo to a inline 4 you get a lawn mower.(one case would be the rotary engine of the RX-7 which isn't an inline 4 but sounds like one or the honda crap as well.)

  • With everything I have in it, I'm about at the 9k mark. the turbo kit was $5400. It's a Gen-TT kit.

  • I like the car, like where your going with this build but that not 500hp. I have a SS and conversion SS. 96 and 02 and both are over 460hp the LT1 is a 383 turbo makin 587 to rear wheels and when I get on a dyno the front end goes up or when I'm on the street you deffenetly know there is more than 500hp under the hood. The LS2 has 463hp and that one looks like what you have but its still balls to the wall. One more thing I put a mechanical cutout, best investment made.

  • This car is capable of over 800rwhp. This is a brand new car with hardly any miles on it. It's got full suspension upgrades, solid drive shaft, harrop diff cover and electric water pump waiting when the owner gets back from deployment. Honestly who knows if he'll end up going through the bottom end

  • Oh yeah, no dought on the potential. If you buld the motor right I can even see a 1000+hp. I'm trying t fit a big turbo on the 02' SS something with 14-20psi and finding room in the engine bay is like pissin up stream with the wind in your face!
