  • SANTA CLAUSE IN THE SKY AND THE WITCH TOO! Who remembers seeing "BYC" in the sky.

  • '''Perfection is the key!'' -Reptile

  • sounds quite similar to Alien 3 music, which was also by Arena...game companies must have had all their own ways of doing things and that I guess

  • ...look to la luna...

  • Man, this shits all over SNES. I am sorry. It really does.

  • @Dooke80 Yeah the SNES had better speech and voice acting, but this game owned the SNES version with its BGMs and crazy finishing moves, and bloody attacks!

  • Trippy. I miss this.

  • this soundtrack shoulda been on mortal kombat arcade kollection

  • @jarlile32 What lol?. This isn't arcade this is GEN......

  • @Penicuikdean2010 I know lol

  • I think the MK ost for Sega sounds out of place...but it's badass haha

  • Look to la Luna MOTHERFUCKERS.

  • I wonder if I am the only one who stares at the skies when the moon is behind clouds and remember this music ...... ultra nostalgic.

  • @carlosroberto366 No man, you are not the only one. It´s very nostalgic.

  • @carlosroberto366

Haha i wanted to place a comment that is something simmilar of that.

You have beaten me to it =p

    FATALITY!!

  • Probably the best song coming from Genesis Mortal Kombat

  • i would actually breakdance to this jam when i played this on the option screen

  • I always think of Halloween when I hear this...

  • The best parts: 0:00 to 0:14

  • they should've add this soundtrack to mortal kombat arcade kollection.

  • This is basically the same theme from the warrior shrine in the arcade version

  • haha, this amped me up every time I was fighting on the Pit as a kid.

  • I' am remember this song with me playing the Sega :D

  • Both MK and MK2 for Sega had AWESOME SOUNDTRACKS! That's my childhood right deeah, aaah yeeeeah! xD

  • I keep thinking about Halloween or Castlevania when I hear this.

  • @arcadesega

3 people got thrown into the pit 124 times

  • @lousbeatz and got multiple freeze and spear by reptile

  • Ah~Old music

  • Still prefer the Super NES and Arcade version of this, but this has nostalgia value x) so its pretty cool

  • Fatality is the key.

  • Sick this version of the song is way....Better!!!

  • This is the version that should've been remixed for MK9.

  • Man if anyone here lives in reidsvile or anywhere in nc and wants to play black ops or mortal kombat 1 2 or 3 send me a message and come over to my house.

  • The soundtrack for the Sega version is actually better than the arcade believe it or not. Granted the graphics weren't perfect but the music is awesome

  • Damn this brings me back to when I was like 10. Wasn't the soundtrack but sega had the blood code and awesome music. Reptile and green sonya :)

  • Two people accidentally used block when doing doing Scorpion's fatality

  • @blakfloyd: But isn't that how you DO his fatality?

  • @HamtaroSonicHedgehog

Yes and no. Although that is the most common way to do it, you can't block, sustain any damage(even blocked hits), and must do a fatality in order to fight Reptile at the bottom of the Pit so my joke was about getting everything right in order to fight Reptile but then fumbling at the one yard line so to speak by fucking up on the fatality lol. Just get a sweep kick's distance from your foe, jump straight up and keep tapping up and *BOOM* fatality done without blocking.

  • @blakfloyd: well actually someone told me they made an exception for Sonya and Scorpion since you do need to block just to do their fatalities despite what you just told me,Thanks though.

  • @HamtaroSonicHedgehog The game makes exceptions for Scorpion and Sonya after the "Finish Him" cue since their fatalities require them to use block.

  • @afranco3680: Ooooh....Okay I gotcha....Oh yeah that's right I remember now...

  • @HamtaroSonicHedgehog

Yeah it's perfectly accurate. I never said it was wrong but just wrong if you were trying to fight Reptile which for most hardcore MK enthusiasts was what the Pit was all about. Now that I think about it you may even be able to use block if the fatality calls for it cuz I think I got to Reptile with Sonya before and her fatality was --> --> <-- <-- "Block" I think.

  • this my shyt right here! never liked gettin' knocked into the pit tho... :P

  • Genesis has my favorite version of MK themes.

  • @myudoicp I agree with you

  • I love the beats in this.

  • I can just feel that cool breeze while I'm on the bridge fighting for my life.

  • This was the Warrior's Shrine music on the arcade version.

  • Classic! Love the music!

  • @TheUltimateWalkthrou you mom pussyis boring for my taste

  • @ScottyandFriends Same ;)

  • @TheUltimateWalkthrou Shut,the fuck up,PLEASE.

  • They should've remixed this as well as the main theme.

  • Bad download link, brah.

  • I'm gonna go punch the bag to this!

  • I could never get to Reptile! Darn double flawless victory Rule

  • @BrickCity4eva put the code in the have it set to 1 hit ko dont block and do a fatlity

  • @BrickCity4eva I know the last two parts but I wanna do it without cheating.

  • @BrickCity4eva u cant it couldnt even put off in the arcade verison ive tried

  • @Kingoftheunknown100 Ohhhhh... so much for positivity

  • @BrickCity4eva well you also got to remember you need the shadow code or the chances are slim to none theres a rumor if you beat reptile 3 times you have him as a playable ch

  • @Kingoftheunknown100 the playable rumor is false...and what is the point since he becomes so in MK2

  • @BrickCity4eva Idk the sega verison does let you go against him as many times as you like thought I did mess up the third time

  • @Kingoftheunknown100 I don't ever remember fighting Reptile ever in this game but he became a favorite later on.

  • @BrickCity4eva he super fast and he has all of scrpion and sub-zero moves

  • @Kingoftheunknown100 I know I've seen him fight. I just never fought him. Or don't remember. If he was a playable, he'd be too overpowered.

  • @BrickCity4eva he's not that hard besides his speed

  • @Kingoftheunknown100 that's true

  • they shouldve used this in mk9 for the classic

  • 10,000 POINTS IF YOU DESTROY ME

  • Blocking will get you Nowhere

  • Two people fell down from the pit.

  • @Berni0707 Must've been a Double KO. I didn't think it was possible...

  • @egxtra There aren't K.O.'s in the Mortal Kombat world and you didn't get my point by the way.

  • @Berni0707 About the 2 dislikes? :p

  • @egxtra Yesss

  • @Berni0707 I saw an opportunity to make a witty remark and took it. I figured it would add some flavor to these "XX people fell down a pit/like Justin Beiber/are idiots" comments that I see so much these days.

Also, knockouts exist in the MK series, as it does in EVERY fighting game; it's kinda the reason behind multiple rounds in a single fight. A double KO, I can't say, but standard KOs do exist.

Thank you for making the "joke" less funny now.

  • @egxtra Go and keep playing Street Fighter.

  • AWESOME

  • LOOK TO LA LUNA

  • Wow. I had the SNES version. I feel like I missed out.

  • Screen Goes Dark, Character takes three steps, Then uppercuts the other character, dramatic fall to spike floor, Loser is pissed, and the Winner smirks...... In that order

  • FATALITY IS THE KEY!

  • TIP ETH FO MOTTOB

  • Fond memories hearing this on my generation 1 genesis, with my headphone hooked right into the Genesis itself, playing this right into the late night. (by late night I mean 10 pm...hey, I was like 8 at the time)

  • they should the genesis versions of these tracks in MK9 as dlc

  • I didn't like the Genesis version of the soundtrack. They simplified the melodies and rhythms of pretty much every song from the original. The first time I heard it, I think I laughed. The original is king in my book.

  • @americandodgeball they didn't simplify anything, they changed the soundtrack completely except for the main theme song. personally i like the genesis version better than the original

  • @MInuhanyouM Hmmm, now that you mention it, most of the music WAS changed enough to be considered a new soundtrack on its own. I don't know what you meant by "main theme song," but particularly the music for the Courtyard stage most closely resembles the original arcade version. Still, whether you label the Genesis version's soundtrack a variation on the original or a new soundtrack altogether, I prefer the original arcade soundtrack by far.

  • Remember when fighting games had good soundtracks?

  • A B A C A BB

  • LOOK TO "LA LUNA"

  • I have gameboy MK & Mk on super nintendo! but no genesis ':0

  • PERFECTION IS THE KEY!

  • so THIS is the only MK game rateed T before mk vs dc?

  • @tecmo1

    Technically it's rated M.

Before the ESRB existed, Sega rated their own games and gave Mortal Kombat the rating MA-13.

When the ESRB came into effect, Mortal Kombat's official North American rating became M.

  • I could imagine workin down the street seeing people breakdance to this.

  • LOOK TO LA LUNA

  • I can only imagine how this would be like on an acid trip....

  • MOTTOB FO EHT TIP

  • @BrickCity4eva you mean bottom of the pit? :/ lmao! jk

  • Verdicts for stuff on MK1 Home versions:

Better Movement and Graphics: Super Nintendo

    Better Music: Sega Genesis

    Better Control Scheme:Super Nintendo

    M-freakin'-RATED VIOLENCE:Sega Genesis

Final Verdict:...i don't know, never played either.

  • @Edfan10 Better control scheme - Genesis 6-Button controller, period.

  • @ResurrectedTemplar Good point. If i can get my Genesis to work...i WOULD buy MK1, but i forgot i already have the "arcade-perfect" port on Xbox....and i don't like it.

  • @Edfan10 I don't like the arcade version for the reason above the comments - music. Genesis versions of MK and MK II had some of the best music ever.

  • @ResurrectedTemplar my reasons are that the controls are bothersome for Xbox, and my controllers ports are pieces of garbage. They're so fragile that they'll disconnect and interrupt my game without me even moving!

  • @ResurrectedTemplar And now for some reason responding to a comment I already responded to almost half a year ago, those major complaints are pretty much away thanks to the recent Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection. Played it?

  • @Edfan10 Nah, PC version was delayed, so I didn't have chance to play it yet.

  • @ResurrectedTemplar Oh, no 360 or PS3? That sucks, man, it's pretty cool, the trilogy with HD sound. Flawless controls, moves and FATALITIES (including babalities, friendships, animalities, etc.) on pause menu, arcade-perfect, although there are 1-second delays when exiting out the pause menu to move again, and the online play is horrid. Overall, if you still want it for the sake of it, go ahead and buy it for PC. I say 10$ is worth it.

  • @Edfan10 I'm a PC gamer through and through. When the game will be out on Steam, I'll buy it.

  • @ResurrectedTemplar or you could just get an emulator.. i have a few sega games for an emulator including this game

  • @ResurrectedTemplar or you could just get an emulator.. i have a few sega games for an emulator including this game

  • @scarfaceking1 I do play them on emu now and then. But I sooo would want some better graphics. And achievements. And leaderboards.

  • @ResurrectedTemplar So you don't care about the gameplay then. Just shows what today's gamers are like.

  • @jacksprat1990 The gameplay in both versions is the same, so why should I choose the version that is inferior in most of other aspects?

  • Do some bodypopping towards the opponent......stop.....uppercut them off the bridge......start bodypopping all over again to the other side.

  • I guess since the new one is around the corner, this, for some reason came to my mind and yeah I played it first on the Genesis before the SNES and we can see why MK was played more on the Genesis. Awesome soundtrack and the famous blood code...A,B,A,C,A,B,B. For us older gamers that grew up with this game we knew that code like the famous Konami code.

  • @GunbladeRevolver Abacabb was synonymous with our childhood.

  • @TheSurefireGamer EXACTLY!! lol

  • @GunbladeRevolver SNES games always had shitty soundtracks compared to Genesis in my opinion. Just too much reverb and distortion. I loved the crystal-clear, metal/clingy-like sound of the Genesis' music!

  • @Chubzdoomer Yeah it just sounded like it was time to fight especially at the Throne Room. That's where u know...THIS SHYT JUST GOT REAL lol

  • @GunbladeRevolver The blood code? I still remember it because of DULLARD (Down, Up, Left, Left, A, Right, Down).

  • @17FHPires That is DULLARD code. Blood code is A, B, A, C, A, B, B, in the honor code text screen ;)

  • Thanks for the extenditure

  • Whats random is that I was wearing earphones, so the BG beats were tickling my ears. LOL

  • @Chonson nahhhh shanghai tsung palace

  • cuantos recuerdos. AGUANTE LA SEGA GENESIS!!!!

  • @Chonson Go listen to some Insane Clown Posse you bellend.

  • @jacksprat1990 They suck big balls

  • @Chonson you fucking crazy....where are your brains? in your ass?

  • @Chonson

    worst comment ever

  • @filthpigcom

In all honesty, the SNES version had more arcade-accurate music and (some graphics), but the Genesis version had better controls and kept the blood and fatalities. It was basically a give and take. Unless you owned the actual arcade machine or have the special edition MK Deception, you really shouldn't expect to have arcade-perfect anything.

  • 1 dislike from someone who has been finished at the PIT.

  • thumbs up for this theme being the best genesis music

  • this brings memorries back when i was always walking out at night and hanging on my roof

  • the person who disliked got punched into the spikes

  • Greatest fight round song EVER !

  • matt furniss is the man

  • Genesis does what Nintendon't.

  • Wish the deception version of The Pit had this music.

  • Way better than SNES & Arcade versions !

  • THUMBS UP IF YOUR AN 80'S BABY AND PLAYED THIS SHIT IN THE ARCADE!!!

  • @UncleGermrod ah this came out in 1992

  • I always thought the genesis version had dope music

  • Best song on the game, I would listen to this all the time on the options menu, thanks for the post.

  • The best track in the whole game.

  • You could totally play this to any action movie shootout

  • This version of the pit was way better then the arcade version...

  • where can one download this music??

  • @E1itetube ffshrine, galabadia hotel

  • generic comments are generic

  • best song in pt.1 besides the courtyard.

  • Do you have the MK: Shaolin Monks FATALITY music?

  • MK kicks ass, especially the soundtrack to the genesis version, this extended version is much better than the original one since it lasts longer, nice vid dude.

  • Damn, it just doesn't get any better than this.

I now have some access to a music program (won't say what). If I remixed this, would you view, comment and rate? Waddaya say R466?

  • If I liked it I would rate it and comment yes

I'm the kinda guy that lives by the rule "if you aint got nothing nice to say dont say anything at all"

  • @DarkX64 I am still waiting for the remix. :) PM me if you do it.

  • this song rocks... finish him

  • My personal favourite, thanks mate.
