Hahaha - That comment lasted a long time! Zappa was a true composer, He was loved in rock, jazz, classical, all music circles. Elvis was good at what he did but he was no Frank Zappa.. Zappa was a musical genius!! Elvis was a bluesy pop icon, like Justin Bieber... (ok, that was below the belt, so sorry) I really liked that Elvis meets Nixon movie though! If you didn't see it put it on your list!!

I was at one of the MSG shows. I think it was an afternoon show. A comedian opened, then the Sweet Inspirations did some stuff on their own before backing the King. What a memory. I was 15.

@610elliott Those shows he dis in 1973 and 1975 in Long Island, were, for me fantastic. Just as good as those in MSG. I've uploaded Steamroller Blues from the 1973 gigs, in Long Island Uniondale. Just amazing. There are not odicial releases but there are some "import" cds with resonable audience recordings.

@Galoport : The MSG shows were on my birthday and it was the first time I ever saw Elvis in concert. What I remember best from the Nassau shows was a stunning version of I'm Leaving. Elvis was going to play Nassau again but sadly he passed away. I miss him.

I was there and he was amazing. Before Elvis even came on stage you felt as if God himself was about to decend from the Heavens. The thrill that you felt every time he moved, sang, smiled..I can't even begin to describe it.. The energy in the Garden would have lit up all of NYC for a week! The man oozed raw sex appeal...every woman in the Garden was going crazy....including me! Price for a good ticket to see the KING $10...I still have my stub.
