  • all this can be aviod by communication, and planing.

there have been some cases where I have show up to places with out a clue what the place laid out. but I bring extra cords, etc. and time... but yeah when it comes to dj in hotel is pain in the rear end 99%

one more thing.. gig logs shouldnt be that long. 5 min max. right?

  • hey nice video i am starting up in the dj service and i seen all your tip videos and they helped me so much the one thing is what is best should i go all in and do weddings and parties and everything or should i do some parties first then get into weddings later because the last thing i want to do is mess up on a wedding gig?

  • @Essenc3 doesn't being digital make it so much easier for equipment. I do very small gigs bur I've seen other guys with full turntables hilarious watching them walk around

  • Being a crew guy for a while i had to drag essentially a whole band setup: speakers, lights, amps, kit, drums and everything in between up the narrowest staircase anywhere in the world. Worst thing was that the mic leads had to be across the steps because the interface was on the adjacent wall and so i had to vault the last step too. Did i mention this place was on te 5th floor? Lol i feel for you bro

  • ppl..,what is the nightmare?

  • jump on it jump on it lol

  • Maybe you're just lazy... haha. Carry less equipment and learn how get rid of stuff that isn't absolutely necessary. If I go somewhere that already has a house speaker system I literally carry one flight case and a large bag for my laptop, harddrive, wires, etc, and have a friend help carry my monitors and monitor stands. super simple but I'm all digital.

  • How much was for this in the U.S.A.? This party seemed like it sucked ass big time. I love when people complain at not being good dancers and try to blame the DJ for that. I just laugh and tell them that weddings for me are not surprising at all when I find bad dancers. I should make a compilation of bad/ridiculous dancing at weddings.

In regards to carry shit up, what floor was this? I love working out, so I wouldn't mind getting the shit up.

Cheers! Keep up the good work! =)

  • @UltraJugulator The party was the complete opposite of suck - it was a blast! The set up was a PITA, but not the night itself!

  • roadies worst nightmare haha

  • Oh!!!! I feel for you man!!!! I feel for you!!!

  • djeffclives best turn out at a party.....go disco mixer jeff...lol..

  • You should always arrive 1-2 hours early for things like this. Anything can happen. Better to be early than to be sorry.

  • @greeneyedboriqua - I arrive between 2.5 and 3 hours early usually, but when it takes over an hour to actually get your gear into the building, that eats into your setup time! Thanks for the comment, hopefully others will heed your advice.

  • I think I would have just sat down and cried. There's no way my rig is going up stairs.

  • top of the mornin to ya, dj

  • That's why I always bring STARVING TEENAGE SLAVES!! (Okay, these days they're called "roadies" and I have to pay them. Damned anti-slavery laws!) :)

  • @DJStuCrew Here in the states you go to the nearest Home Depot and pick a few day laborers LOL!

  • @MattyTheMole Damn, Home Depot has EVERYTHING! :D

  • damn man i feel for ya bro... been there, sucks!.. but being the pro that u are that's exactly why u ALWAYS arrive early.... I'd rather be really really early than even alitttle bit late..

  • not enough Biggie songs if you ask me.

  • I had the brilliant idea to put EVERYTHING in a SKB gig rig instead of 2 skb cases for faster set up.... the gig rig weighs 45lbs by itself!! I had 2 guys carry it up stairs for me one time because there was no elevator, and they couldn't believe I pack it in by myself! I'm going back to 2 cases soon

  • Indian weddings are way more fun LOL

  • all you fucking do is circle a fire.

  • @yojoinman

I mean Indian as in really indian not Native American sorry you are misinformed

  • BOOOOOOOO!!! I hate a down elevator!!! Screw it, use the guest elevator!!

  • welcome to our world...you did good

  • Wow that hurts but you jumped in and got it done. I will keep that in mind at one venue for sure. Thanks for sharing...

    Curt

  • They had it fixed for last weekend at least!

  • Nice one Al! Stairs should be outlawed I tell you. :)

  • Great Video!! Stairs suck ass but it all worked out for you and thats what counts!!

  • never thought of playing fleetwood mac for the wedding intro. great idea. i might have to try that one. new djs can learn a lot from how u mc a wedding. very comfortable, relaxed and professional on there. great video.

  • Thanks, bud, kind of you to say so. It's all about practice, preparation and pills!

Okay, maybe not the pills, but definitely the first 2!

  • I feel for you Allan. I did that for a prom once that nearly killed me, and I wasn't alone!

  • I know how you feel, happen to me 2 to often i'm afraid.

So be on time you guys, if it's not the elevator, it's the traffic or parkinglots, the weather or something else.

But there are never a real xcuse to disapoint a customer, exept for childbirth, illness or your own death.

Sure shit happens but try to be prepared that's the edge you have twords the competition.

    take care, and great video

    /S

  • Yup, what's the worst that happens if you're early? You get less time at home before you have to leave!

  • I say 3 years Dam "OUCH".... Nice wASH gOOD gIG LOG !!! dj mIKEY miKE

  • I'm in awe of your lighting setup Mike - but I'll get there!

  • I am with you!!! thanks brother!!! Mikey Mike

  • Know how you feel, had to do a carry up 4 flights of staires the once!! took 1 hr just to get the friggin kit in! j

  • And 6 valium to get the heart back to normal!

  • @ScottishDeeJay i prefer perks hahaa but send some to ny=]...its very different from where im from (the way the wedding goes)

  • @ellaskins "1 hr just to get the friggin kit in!" LOL!
