I'm not hating on their new sound or anything, but I much rather prefer their older sound. If anything I think Gabe sounds a lot like Matt Heafy in this album. It is still kinda sad that they left their old style. Even though his voice changed they could of still stuck with the good 80's thrash/hard rock style they had before. After this album, I'm almost ashamed to have said that I liked this band. @666MetalMatt 1st off Reverse everything you said, Hair Metal Came before Core, Core is feeding off the formula which kills, secondly, Hair Metal was one of the revolutionary genres, The hard rock/heavy metal sound that involved a shit load of flair and shred. The point being that Hair Metal shouldn't even be in the same sentence as Todays Metal unless you're describing bands like Black Tide and Taking Dawn who have preserved that style and mixed a little old school with the new school.

Miss when this band actually had their own unique sound. I dont think they evolved their original sound, they completely changed it. You can still make each album sound completely different by staying true to your style. But they decided to sound like every other new band out there.
I don't understand why everyone is comparing Black Tide to Bullet. They really don't sound like each other.
And I don't understand why people are saying new Black Tide is bad. They still sound great. Sure, it's not like their first album. But, Gabe, obviously, hit puberty and his voice got deeper. Their old sound doesn't fit with a deep voice. So, they had to change their sound. But, they still sound amazing.
@drownedasunder actually, if you're working out the muscle you use to sing, diaphram, vocal cords, etc. puberty should have little to do with how high you can sing if you're persistent with vocals.

People have to realize that they recorded Light From Above when they were really young. I think Gabe was 15 or 16. They getting older and ofcourse theyre sound is gonna change. It common. And OFCOURSE his voice is gona change. Its been like two years and hes like barely 18. Atleast theyre still making good music.

The one thing that save the song for me is the vocals.Gabe has a pretty good metal voice (except for the screamo influences) I also seemed to notice a tad of the older stuff but I cant stand that goddamn snare drum. So many bands use it and im already sick of it.

This isnt as bad as some of the crap they were screaming in the past couple years. Its actually not bad. But I have a feeling the album is going to have some weird songs on it. Its got to much going on in a way. Kinda all over the place. But as long as he sings and doesnt scream I will buy it. The chorus is instantly catchy though.

When you tour with bullet and then have Matt Tuck as a guest on the album, it's going to be hard to not end up sounding like bullet to some extent.
Having said that I love both bands so I can't complain.

Miss when this band actually had their own unique sound. I dont think they evolved their original sound, they completely changed it. You can still make each album sound completely different by staying true to your style. But they decided to sound like every other new band out there.

I don't understand why everyone is comparing Black Tide to Bullet. They really don't sound like each other.
And I don't understand why people are saying new Black Tide is bad. They still sound great. Sure, it's not like their first album. But, Gabe, obviously, hit puberty and his voice got deeper. Their old sound doesn't fit with a deep voice. So, they had to change their sound. But, they still sound amazing.

@drownedasunder actually, if you're working out the muscle you use to sing, diaphram, vocal cords, etc. puberty should have little to do with how high you can sing if you're persistent with vocals.
HOWEVER. New Black tide = orgasm, and it is so for the old stuff, not too shabby live either if i say so for myself

@drownedasunder thats odd, because when i first heard them, i thought they were bfmv, first time hearing them street fighter x tekken, just checking out the band to see if they're any good, sounds like one of those phase bands like bfmv, linkin park, hollywood undead, you know, where you listen to them for just a short time then get tired of hearing them, only to move on, the band isn't bad, but they're not amazing either, nothing new most of us haven't heard before

People have to realize that they recorded Light From Above when they were really young. I think Gabe was 15 or 16. They getting older and ofcourse theyre sound is gonna change. It common. And OFCOURSE his voice is gona change. Its been like two years and hes like barely 18. Atleast theyre still making good music.

I really liked Black Tide before, since they had this really unique riff-based sound that got me pumped with every song (No song felt like a filler, unlike modern bands)
i can't judge Black Tide's new album just yet, but since Gabe's voice got deeper they didn't have a choice but to adjust and it's not a bad thing, it's just kinda sad cuz their old stuff was so amazing
this song overall sounds darker, less riff-based and more screamed

@anthonyrobichaudjudo I can't agree that any of BFMV's albums sound like Black Tide. And All That Remains definitely DOESN'T have any material that sounds like this. Black Tide is a great band but ATR is a heavier sounding band. I know that everyone here is gonna say I'm either comparing the two or dissing on BT which I'm not. I'm just saying this new sound they have is fine, I understand why many people loved their old sound better (I loved it too) but the new one is fine as well.

They weren't really thrash at all. They didn't sound anything like Exodus, Overkill, Death Angel, Anthrax, etc.
They were influenced by thrash and other great bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, but they were never thrash.
If you want thrashy/punkish stuff listen to bands like Slaughterhouse, The Panix, DRI, Municipal Waste, Cross Examination.

The one thing that save the song for me is the vocals.Gabe has a pretty good metal voice (except for the screamo influences) I also seemed to notice a tad of the older stuff but I cant stand that goddamn snare drum. So many bands use it and im already sick of it.

This isnt as bad as some of the crap they were screaming in the past couple years. Its actually not bad. But I have a feeling the album is going to have some weird songs on it. Its got to much going on in a way. Kinda all over the place. But as long as he sings and doesnt scream I will buy it. The chorus is instantly catchy though.

ok first off to the fucker who said their first album sounds like AC/DC needs to go fuck himself. AC/DC is a three cord wonder band. thses guys actually had some gnarly as riffs and progrssions and amazing guitar solo's. the lyrics were even fucking rad. now they sound like a bunch of fucking EMO faggs.
