u guys r retarded. Florida is better than Duke!!!!!!!!!!!! r u fucking kidding me! wow u guys have david lee and mike miller, 2 great nba players right. and the back 2 back national champs team theyre all having succesful nba careers so far also right? U guys r pathetic Coach K is the greatest coach in college basketball. Florida also plays in such a tough conference the SEC oh man thats really competitive college basketball.
I doubt Duke gets Josh Smith and Harrison Barnes. Kelly and Plummee are good but they would have trouble guarding favors(probably going to GT) and Lawal at GT.
If Kenny Boynton goes to duke in 09 with ryan kelly and mason plumlee, then next season u add Harrison Barnes,Andrew Dawkins,Tyler Thornton and Josh Smith there winning the title in boyntons sophmore, junior and senior season and then the following season when the other 4 and other recruits are still there
Sorry, Smith is likely headed to Carolina. Best situation for him and is development for the League. Barnes unlikely as well. Duke is not as attractive as it once was. Alot of players see this finally. I know this personally from one of their recent former players(know his family) that is glad his Duke career is over. Overrated program with a dictator for a coach. Dawkins and others need to reevaluate themselves. Better programs right now. UCLA, Memphis(especially for guards), Carolina, UCONN
hmm Olympic gold medal coach and kids are saying he dont have a pro program haha what a joke. Duke is gonna do it baby. Scheyer Singler Smith Paulus Zubek Williams Thomas Mclure Plumlee King Kelly Czyz come on now
He coached the the Olympic team. Congratulatoins. Still does not change the fact that Duke has lost several high calibur prospects over the last several seaons due to transfer and early entry. Nor does it change the fact that Duke has missed more than half of their top recruiting targets to other, better programs.Duke is slowly changing which is good but I am sorry if I was a prospect there are better programs right now. That team you mentioned is not special. Should be happy that you got Elliot
Plumlee? Sorry not impressed. Big prospects like Sidney, Favors, Cousins, Henson, Gallon impress me, not Plumlee. Kelly as well. Not a strong prospect physically. Both of them will be bench players in the League if they get that far in 4 years. King was lost last year. King is a 1 dimensional playrs. Shoot 3s. That is it.
Carolina signed 5 current and former 5 star prospects. All top 70 and below. Duke cannot touch that. UCLA is stacked with a exceptoinal developmental program that stresses sound defense. Memphis has the best perimeter offensive in the nation. Could get Wall, Henry and Favors. Kansas is sound. Georgetown. USC is a new 1 and done star school. Ohio State has produced multiple pros over the last several seasons.
Singler and Williams are the only real players that Duke has. Both should go pro after this season. Scheyer is 2nd rate. Late 2nd round or free agent pickup at best. Smith is solid not special.
Duke has a great class lined up for 2009 and 2010... don't tell me that Duke can't recruit anymore and that kids don't want to go there.
There's certainly a stigma attached to guys like Plumlee and Kelly that they are 'Duke kids' and not that good. They were 5 star prospects before Duke got them, nothing has changed since.
Duke will continue to get top talent... great coaching staff, great university, and believe it or not, yes, they've have successful crop of players in the NBA.
Yes they do but the majority of them developed AFTER they entered the League. They did not enter that level. Sorry Duke does not develop players for the professional level. Too many bust and mediocre players playing putting up numbers in a non pro style system. Duke is not an NBA team but elite players would like to develop for the abiliity to play in the League. Duke has not consistently done that.
Great class for 09? Wow. Plumlee and Kelly. Great class. Both will be washouts in the League after having "stellar" careers at Duke. Plumlee is no 5 star. Kelly is only due to 09 being a weak class at the top big man wise. Frankly this class is lackluster compared to the past. 2010 is a 5-8 man class as well. 2011 has potential. 3 definite stars in LaQuinton Ross, Anthony Wroten jr. and Mike Gilchrest. 2012 is the next special class. J'Mychal Reese is killing cats right now on varsity.
"Plumlee and Kelly. Great class. Both will be washouts in the League after having "stellar" careers at Duke."
uh you just made my point. already disregarding them because they carry that Duke player stigma.
and Duke doesn't do a good job putting players in the league, yet their only second by UCLA in most NBA players from a college. Nice job with that one.
Laetnner, Hill, Boozer, Duhon, Brand, Jay Williams (would've been a great player),Deng all had very succesful rookie years, so obviously they were impacted by Coach K and his system. Dunleavy is the one guy that took a little time to develop.
Deng 1 and done. Cannot give K credit for that. Laettner was an average player that was no where near the player he was in college. Brand would have great anywhere he went and frankly from watching film did not change his game 1 iota from when he entered Duke. Duhon, average. Boozer got better AFTER he left Duke. You can see that in his skill set development since he was drafted. Williams. Hopefully but doubtful. Had some nice tools was a bust the little time he was on the floor.
This post is full of excuses. Many one and done players flame out so I will give Coach K credit for that. Boozer and Brand were both impact rookies, no doubt about it they both thrived of off the Duke system. Duhon is average but he's sure had an NBA career that has exceeded most people's expectations. He was a successful rookie as well.
Sorry Plumlee and Kelly are not impressive. McRoberts was a much better prospect than both of them and look what happened to him. I know personally that Duke's program . I know the family of one of their former players that is currently in the League and he regrets going there(Guess which one?). You have players drafted by name. Duke is a prestigious school. Like entereing into a company after going to a Ivy league school. Gets your foot in the door automatically in most situations.
They will get the white prospects but black playres are wising up to K and the Duke program. Did not even send a letter to top 2010 prosepct Jeremy Tyler. Knew they would not get him. Will not offer to 2011 stars Tony Wroten, LaQuinton Ross, Michael Gilchrest and 2012 top prospect J'Mychal Reese(know family personally).
3 black players are attending Duke so far in 10 if you haven't noticed, and I still don't get why it is only Duke you attack who the hell has Roy Williams ever produced??? McCants can't get off the bench, spent his entire first year in the D leage, maybe this trade will help him, Felton when the hell is he supposed to breakout guess who pro analysts always blame for his difficulty. And when is Marvin supposed to become dominant?
Kansas I'm not seeing it Rush was the 4th best SF in his class and is having a very average first season, Wright was the SF in his class and is not having a very good two years, and Chalmers was the number 2 PG in his class and is having a nice rookie campaign but as for anybody else under Bill Self I will give you Deron Williams but then you could argue Dee Brown who was never going to be great in the pros no matter where he went and typically those are the types of kids Duke recruits
And of the real pro material that has went to Duke being Hill, Brand, Maggette, Deng, and Boozer they have done fine and I think Duke did a good job developing Dunleavy, Battier, and Duhon not real great pro material based of some of there disadvantages but have turned out to pretty good pros. Texas I will give credit for D.J. but like you always argue some players would have been the same anywhere you could say that for Gibson and Lemarcus who still hasn't really broken out yet, Durant no cred
Ohio State has Conley, Oden, Cook, Koufos all under Thad Matta were all one and dones ,and some of the highest rated players in there class and other then Cook (who had a nice rookie campaign on a struggleing Heat team) are being produced in the pros. Now for Georgetown I will give you they did a hell of a job with a not very highly recruited Green and Hibbert but they had a couple down seasons so that could be due to alot of minutes starting early. So given NBA talent players Duke has done fine
And I can garentee you that Duke probably produces more non NBA talent them most other teams in the country hinting that Duke led the NBA this season in pro players at 14 and about half of them were not NBA caliber players coming out of highschool they were projected as only good college players which is what Duke generally recruits but still turns a good portion of them into at least having a pro campaign which is more then alot of other colleges can say
Since Duke just got Ryan Kelly a few days ago, and Mason Plumlee earlier this year, they apparently have some front court players coming, and if he were to commit there also then they would be frontrunners for the national championship their freshmen year. Its probably gonna be Duke.
Rumors are exactly that, they mean jack squat. It's a two horse race with UF and Duke but you don't know where he is going anymore than I do, hell Kenny probably doesn't even know yet and the longer he waits the better it looks for Duke.
Duke will get this guy. They have been recruiting him since he was a freshman and it is just his kind of school. A team full of scorers. Duke will get Boynton, they already have Mason Plumlee, and will get Ryan Kelly if Coach K gives him an offer after the Olympics are over.
THANK YOU! FINALLY! Sumone that I can agree! I said the same thing when I started hearing about him goin to duke. I feel as tho if he goes to Duke he's not gonna b able to explore his game and truly b free.
look dude im 14 years old i dont give a shit its computer type. also i dont like unc im all georgia tech i was just stating the facts. last its better not bettre . idiot
Trust Duke is gonna get their recruiting classes back up to par. Its gonna start here with KB then next year then his boy Brandon Knight the next year. Coach K knows the types of players he has to recruit now.
Wow. Another UNC fan that doesn't know English! The correct spelling for your sentence is than not then! And they may be ranked bettre right now because they got their good recruits already. But once Gayler graduates and doesn't get drafted UNC has to find a new bitch.
stonedog..if you hate duke so much, why did you type in the name of a future blue devil in the search bar? Prick... Carolina can have there one, two year guys all they want. Duke still gets mcdonalds all americans ( 8 last year and 7 next year) fuck carolina up the ass. Keep sayin your gonna win the championship again, every since 2005 you all think your gonna win it every year, its just because you finally have a bball program again instead of Brad Fartys shitty teams. go devils. go kenny.
stonedog, you sound like an idiot with your baseless rants. Henderson out of position? Lol. He plays the 3 spot, what would you prefer a 6-5 guy play, point guard? You use guys like Randolph and McRoberts to make your point, yet conveniently underplay Henderson, Singler while not mentioning Elliot Williams, Nolan Smith, Jon Scheyer, and Greg Paulus(who burned UNC wiht his three ball in chapel hill last year). People that lack sufficient brain functioning shouldnt even comment.
The college teams with the most players in the NBA right now are: UConn (13), Duke (12), North Carolina (12). So don't tell me that Coach K can't send people to the NBA. Are you CRAZY?
UNC just recruits a lot earlier than Duke does. By the time the class of '09 rolls around, Duke will have 3-4 big time players.
Florida all the way. Better developmental system, more receptive coach, closer to home. Duke is a sinking ship. Too many elite prospects are disinterested, subpar development methods(1st hand account from a Duke starter and NBA draftee), and a controlling coach. To bad he does not want to come out west to a Pac 10 school like Arizona, UCLA or USC, a hot one and done school right now.
outside of the fact that my opinions are completely biased but with truth behind them I will say this statment is probably accurate considering Florida turned a bunch of nobody's into somebody's but other than that there in a major rebuilding fase and didn't really help Calathas. And whether Duke is not what they used to be they still always have great seasons and are always 2 to 3 players from another title hence Kenny Boynton ,Jamil Wilson, and a much needed favors which won't happen.
No certainty they will get any of the targets. They lost several 5 star prospects due to their current program(Monroe, Drew Gordon, Reeves Nelson) 3 top 50 transfers(Boykin, Boateng, King). If K does not adapt to modern methods Duke will continue to sink. Just the name DUKE is not going to get prospects to commit anymore. You have to guarantee that you can improve draft stock, skill level and exposure. They have TV time, but their methods are subpar. Other coaches have, it is time he does too.
But then he will just be like the rest of them have excellent seasons every year and win nothing unstead he goes for a slump of just good seasons and trys to let it evolve into something great some times it works sometimes it doesn't
And I could see why UCLA or USC is a major one and done spot because of the beach and everything else but I really don't get why Arizone is but it seems to be one.
Arizona is a beautiful campus with lovely coeds, world class facilities, and pro style system with exceptional development methods and a coach that gives you the change to play your game. K does not do that. He makes you play his system(4-1; 3-2 5 man motion). Olsen will fit your style into the offense.
Your right about your points but if you think about it do they have horrible development methods or great ones. Yah all the all stars don't thrive at Duke because there forced to play as a team but some players who would have never got drafted had they went somewhere else get better and are made a name at Duke. So when they get to the NBA everybody is all bust well it's not that they were busts its just that they looked good enough to get drafted because they could fit in as a team at Duke.
Not only that really all these teams that get one and dones yah there freshmen strive but what do there coaches really ever do for there team yah they have a good season because of the one star but they never walk out with the gold its always the teams that ruin stars Kansas has a number of them and outside of the one and dones so does UCLA
Schools like Carolina, Kansas, UCLA and Memphis are the schools that prospects are looking at. High pro turnouts, either former pro coachers and/or pro style systems. These kids want to play pro ball, not bring glory to their programs, that is secondary.
I see Carolina which I don't get that either Roy doesn't do much help on the NBA level either his three boys couldn't even get drafted where they wanted to and two out of the three were about the best prospects in there class. Kansas doesn't really have anybody in the NBA outside of Pierce at the moment that's worth a damn. UCLA outside of the one and dones ruin stars also by trying to win. And I know that's why Duke ruins stars because they always go for the gold.
Carolina has a pro set system and their methods are exceptional. Who are you referring to as the drafted? Felton is a rising guard, McCants and May are solid, and Williams role is increasing in Atlanta. Lawson, Hansbrough, Green, and Ellington should be drafted next year. Wright is improving and should be a solid pro. Gooden is solid from Kansas. Lafrentz has had a few solid years.
I know but McCants, May, and Felton weren't even recruited by Roy and were built before he got there he just had to show them how to win. And Felton when the hell is going to break out you would think he would have done it by now, May isn't around enough to be solid injured to much, McCants developed in the development league his whole first year. And as far as the other four three of them were top prospects and couldn't even get drafted high this year that's why they went back.
Wright he is getting better but he took awhile he developed at New Orleans, Gooden is good but only a good 3rd or 4th option at best he couldn't help Lebron. And Lafrentz he's the only guy outside of Olowakandi that started good and turned into a bust. And damn I didn't know anybody on here stayed up as late as I did and commented on here
And most of the time Duke doesn't even recruit players that are one and dones. So I'm agreeing yah there program might ruin stars but look at it at a perspective for kids like scheyer for example would never get drafted anywhere else but maybe in the future because Duke makes him look better than he actually is so you can't say there building system is horrible, it just helps a different class of player over another because Duke only involves there time with players who's eyes are on the title
K can coach the college level, never denied that. But when it comes to recruitment, elite prospects make money, win games and improve status. Dukes name is not going to cover it like it used to. They have lost alot of prospects.
agreed but would you rather have great seasons every year but win nothing an lose players after a year every year or wait around on guys that maybe will eventually win something one year if your a coach. And I'm not denying that K doesn't use his stars to there maximum ability but he does build pro futures just for all his players that would be sub par and not drafted anywhere else by using his stars ability to make others seem better so it's like a team thing till the end
Carolina has signed or received verbal commits from 9 5 star prospects within the last season alone so far. Duke has not recruited at such high level in years. Duke lost Monroe, Drew Gordon, Reeves Nelson, Leslie McDonald, Dexter Strickland, Lance Stephenson, the Wear twins, and will most likely lose Wall, Wilson, Vinson, Cheek, Boynton, Knight and other elite prospects. When Olek Czyz and Mason Plumlee are your top big man prospects, something is wrong.
I'll give you Monroe Drew Gordon they didn't offer, Reeves Nelson is a 4 star so not a huge loss, Leslie Mcdonald yes but only a 4 star and had other reasons then what we are discussing for going to UNC, Dexter Strictland Duke didn't even offer, Lance I'm not sure about not enough info on him because Duke wasn't even on his list, and the wear twins Duke had no interest in plus I would rather have the Plumlees anyway. I agree on Wall which there not recruiting hard enough
Wilson maybe to because for some damn reason they won't offer him probably because K thinks he's a one and done, Vinson hasn't even been offered but I do believe that if Duke offered he would end his recruitment because he's only a four star developing anyway just the type Duke makes famous, Cheek I don't even think Duke offered him, And Boynton and Knight are a package deal which might be good for Duke because Boynton would do fine if he would stay for two year that way him and K would both get
I don't know maybe they were I just go but what I read and some of those player it didn't even look like Duke was recruiting them that hard or at all and Monroe I don't know what you think of hime but something tells me has overrated I've watched him play and I was very unimpressed
Reeves is a future pro. Has the body, improving skills and intangibles. McDonald was a 5 star since 8th grade, until a mediocre spring evaluation period. They were high on Strickland, that is confirmed through reports on him you can read on Rivals and Scout.
Yah Reeves is impressive. Agreed about McDonald but he's a middle class man's version of E Will anyway. And I never say anything on Strickland I'm suprise K would have recruited him but I can believe it if Roy did they seem to recruit the same type of player well until as of lately, the ones who need time to be good and will stay a few years
what they want. Which is Boynton playing time and K someone who will stay. It's not that he always ruins star it's just he only recruits people who will stay in college and I think he makes them overrated naturally because they go to Duke and there all over TV. But if a Star would actually stay well Henderson is doing fine and he's not ruining Singler if anything he is showing his versatility and Paulus he might go back to football or become a Coach who knows. Anyway any word on Favors
They are not even sniffing at Jeremy Tyler. He is either UCLA, USC or Europe. Wroten, LaQuinton Ross, Michael Gilchrest and J-Mychal Reese do not have Duke on their interest lists. I do not see any elite prospects past 2010 that has Duke high on their interest list.
solid solid solid player. shootsalot of runners and floaters though and as a pg you dont want to fall in love with those kind of shots cuz they arent high percentage shots. real good player though
This guy is unguardable 1 on 1, hes already making NBA shots right now, 7 ft. floaters already in highschool are you serious? I think its coming down to Duke and Florida in the end. I really just dont see Kenny in any uni besides Duke to be honest.
No Ranchoroyce your stupid, The rivals list has not been updated since along time. His top 5 are GT, Memphis, Texas, Florida, and Duke. My money is on GT!!!!
if u play basketball and know anything about basketball......amazing individual talents like kenny boynton dont choose duke becasue mike Krzyzewski doesnt let even his best players go. THats y duke never has an amazing point guard and always get scrubs like greg paulis and jay williams
Really dude? Jay williams scrub? That man dominated. Individual talents dont do well at Duke? Try Elton Brand, Shain Battier, Carlos Boozer, Greg Paulus, though his performance has been somewhat dissappointing was a top ranked prospect. Oh and what about Grant Hill?! If you want a recent example try Luol Deng, he went to duke, was picked as the mvp of the first part of the NCAA tournament, and then became a star in the NBA. Maby you are the one who needs to learn more about basketball.
Hill: agree there would have been even better had it not been for injurys
Boozer: had confidence issues before he entered Duke and really wasn't that highly sought for before going to Duke hence not making the Alaskan top 40 out of highschool if anything Duke not only made some what of a name if you read 5 point play you'll see how he develops confidence and work ethic.
Hurly: probably wouldn't have been much but career was over by injury
Boozer was a McDonald's All American. He was decent at Duke, not great. He developed in the League, work ethic or not. K's skill development methods are subpar compared to other coaches such as UCONN's Calhoun, Arizona's Olsen, UCLA's Howland, Kansas' Self and Florida's Donovan. Their players are more pro ready with NBA bodies on average.
Dunleavy: Average Battier: Average Duhon: average Parks: Bust Carrawell: bust Dawkins: solid pro Aldaanaby: bust Laettner: average James: bust Ewing: bust Burgess: bust Ferry: bust Jay Williams: bust
list should be Dunleavy: good getting better Battier: most out of his talent solid defender Duhon: Average has tools needs a new team and needs to stop missing practice Parks: what did you expect Carrawell: same as parks just good college player Dawkins: was a pretty good player solid 2 or third option Aldaanaby: strictly college Laettner: was getting good then injurys sealed the deal James: wasn't the greatest college player any way Ewing: same as James
Williams was a bust. His game was not NBA ready, even before the injury. Charles Oakley, his teammate even stated that he is only good when he has the ball in his hands.
this is a clearly biased opinion Nelson wasn't ruined at Duke injurys ruined his career and he's just not athletic enough or a good enough shooter or tall enough for that matter for the pros and most of those guys on your list were recruited to be good college players not NBA players, and Boozers work ethic to get better developed at Duke. And you can't call Jay Williams a bust if he had a career ending injury. And why would he go to Florida they have that's good Horford and Miller and then ???
Injuries had an effect, especially considering transfer, but I know first hand that he regretted going there. His brother will never attend Duke and is a Top 25 2011 prosect. Nelson is a solid athlete. 40+ inch vertical, exceptional strength. His shooting does need improvement. His niche will be as a cut and finisher, and perimeter defender.
his verticle was listed lower than that at the NBA draft camp. And I don't think he regretted going there. And I agree with you about what his niche will be.
You don't exactly go out on a limb with this one, Kenny has made it very clear that he doesn't have a leader right now, so saying he won't go to one of the schools out of his 5 finalists isn't exactly taking a risk.
Maby you forget also that one amazing individual talent by the name of Micheal Jordon who went to a school where he was held back. You know they used to say that Dean Smith was the only man on the planet who could keep Micheal Jordon under 20 points a game? That worked out for him. You also dont realise that if the current 1 year college rule had existed we would have recieved # 1 prospects Shaun Livingston and Kobe Bryant. When they went nva we were there only college they were considering.
The thing about Jordan and Dean Smith was a joke. Actually Mike did average 20 a game his sophomore year. Shaun Livingston would have gotten hurt at dook like he has every other year anyway. Of course you can name some kids who panned out, but you can name just as many busts like Shav, Crawford Palmer, Chris Burgess, etc.
He did his sophomore, but not his freshmen and i believe not his junior or senior (correct me if i am wrong). Shaun livingston might not have gotten injured at duke, seeing as it is only a 30~ game season rather than a 82 game season. Also duke athletes go to acclaimed duke medical center where politions with unlimitted bank roles go. Everyone has busts, but how many schools can you name with that many good current pros? Besides, shav and thoes others just show that big names do go to duke.
Shaun Livingston just has one of those bodies that will not co-operate with his talent. He is going to injury prone his entire career and may never reach his full potential. Dook athletes go to Dook Med Center, and...? Carolina athletes go to their medical school, also a well respected facility. You mention the NBA being a 82 game season, but Shaun has been getting hurt within the number of games of a college season. He didn't make it to 30 games this year.
Maby shaun livingston would have been injured at duke, but that is off point, the point is top names DO go to Duke. Also, if people get held back how can a duke guard compete for the scoring title like JJ did? The fact is, top names go to duke, Boynton could. Many players have become good after going to Duke, and Boynton may want to follow that path.
Look again, the top names have been shunning "dook" repeatedly. The so called top ones who do go are seriously overrated, ie Shav, McRoberts. They were garbage at dook. Taylor King was also overrated, K wouldn't even play him. Singler and Henderson are good, but K is playing them out of position, especially Singler who is getting overpowered trying to play inside. No one said Redick was held back, he was a good college player(no NBA skills). His scoring title was the result of the "THE O"
Look again, the top players are going to Carolina. Their next two recruiting classes are monster ones, period!!! This year Ed Davis, Larry Drew, next year the Wear Twins, John Henson, Dexter Strickland, and Leslie McDonald. The year after that Reggie Bullock, Kendall Marshall, and a BIG to be named later. Dook is falling way behind in recruiting impact players.
Mike averaged 13.5 his freshman year, no one expected him to average 20 a game as a frosh. He was not held back, he was the #3 option on that team behind James Worthy(#1 pick in the draft) and Sam Perkins. The following year Worthy left and Mike (as a soph) averaged 20 a game, which was a rarity for a Dean Smith Carolina-coached team. His junior year he averaged 19 and repeated his National Player of the Year accolades. He didn't play a senior season.
boynton would not go to place where his game would be restricted becasue at duke its a system individual players liek boynton dont do well at duke he would choose uconn becasue after price and dyson leave he would be able to step in and contribute.
this nigga right here is nice and shyt. i aint gonna fake. But diss nigga named Darian Hooker is a muthafuckin monster. I got him beastin these niggas. He aint got a rep cuz he dont play AAU but he nice. Dont sleep on this nigga
come on kenny go to duke, were gonna need a new point guard after next year when greg leaves. u and nolan smith would make a nice combo of point guards
hopefully kenny himself is reading this blog if you come to duke you would be with some sick talent and a post that is gettin better, with olek comin in lance and zoubek having another year under their belts, you(kenny)will start with gerald henderson, elliot williams, nolan smith, orlance thomas, and kyle singler.bench would be the deepest bench in america.next comes chips then the league.
Peace to young Kenny representing BROWARD COUNTY. I played against his older brother for years... Kenny lit up the floor against my alma matter when he was with Ely & only a freshman
Him and Brandon Knight would be the 2010 version of JWill/Duhon. Throw in Leslie and Elliot and that backcourt is unstoppable. Elite speed, elite scoring, elite athleticism, elite defense. No weaknesses in that backcourt.
Yes, he does pass and he can pass, but he likes to shoot obviously. Much like Jay Williams, Jay being a tad bigger and stronger with Kenny having a tad bit more skill.
I am hoping (as a Duke fan) that we can get both Kenny B. and Leslie McDonald.
From what I have heard/read...IU is really going for him too but with Sampson's problems...he may have completely dropped the Hoosiers out of the picture.
chitownmo, STFU you sound like a little scrawny nerd who has never been laid before...NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK. You are worthless to the human race, kill yourself and make the world a better place.
Look at the 3:15 when he gets the steal in the black jersey. It takes him two dribbles with the basketball to get to the rim with a layup. Thats how fast he is with the basketball. A.I. esque, two different styles, but both elite scorers and playmakers with the basketball. Best scoring PG since A.I.
Kenny Boynton is a 5 star prospect as he should be. He is a lethal scorer with a deadly pull up jumpshot from 20 feet and in off the dribbble with solid quickness. The Eric Gordon comparisions from members on Rivalsdotcom are not valid, but he is a exceptional prospect. McDonald as well. If Duke gets them, great, but if they do not, then back to the target board. Losing Monroe, Drew Gordon, Reeves Nelson, and Dexter Strickland was hard, especially Monroe.
Have you watched the NBA? Look at how many DUKE players are in there. Duke has the most if not 2nd most current NBA players out there. Dunleavy, Deng, Maggette, Duhon, are all having great seasons. Redick is doing good in the limited time he gets in there, Shelden would do better if he was in a different team. Brand is injured, and Boozer is having an mvp type year, and is an allstar.
I have my facts straight from a current source. And Duke's methods are subpar and that has been documented for years. I have seen some myself. Did you see me previous posts? Most of their players are average or busts. Only Hill is a true superstar, Dawkins was solid, Boozer developed once he played in the League, and Maggette, Brand and Deng were their for a short time. They used Duke as a springboard into the League and developed there, not Duke.
1 season is irrelevant, I am talking about careers. Hill's was damaged by his injuires. Deng is playing an the most underachieving team in the League. Maggette is solid and has been for years, but is no star. Duhon is average regardless of his season. Do not even bring Redick into the equation. The most 1 dimensional player in Duke history. Brand and Boozer are All-Stars, but if you read my previous posts, it had almost nothing to do with going to Duke, they developed in the League.
I hope he does not go to Duke unless K and his staff improve their development methods. I like Duke's tradition, but their development methods are subpar for the next level. That is why they lose 5 star prospects like Greg Monroe. They train you for the system but when they go pro, majority are average or busts.
Studs? The vast majority of Duke players are average or busts in the League. Why do you think they miss out on top 5 Star prospects the last few seasons. Greg Monroe, Drew Gordon, Reeves Nelson, and will miss out on more. The development methods are subpar for the next level. I know this for FACT as I know the family of a Duke player of importance that they do not develop you for the next level. Players get into the League from Duke because of the name and conference.
so glad hes coming to Florida

I doubt Duke gets Josh Smith and Harrison Barnes. Kelly and Plummee are good but they would have trouble guarding favors(probably going to GT) and Lawal at GT.
GaTechfan4life3 3 years ago
If Kenny Boynton goes to duke in 09 with ryan kelly and mason plumlee, then next season u add Harrison Barnes,Andrew Dawkins,Tyler Thornton and Josh Smith there winning the title in boyntons sophmore, junior and senior season and then the following season when the other 4 and other recruits are still there
NJCU111 3 years ago
Sorry, Smith is likely headed to Carolina. Best situation for him and is development for the League. Barnes unlikely as well. Duke is not as attractive as it once was. Alot of players see this finally. I know this personally from one of their recent former players(know his family) that is glad his Duke career is over. Overrated program with a dictator for a coach. Dawkins and others need to reevaluate themselves. Better programs right now. UCLA, Memphis(especially for guards), Carolina, UCONN
chitownmo 3 years ago
hmm Olympic gold medal coach and kids are saying he dont have a pro program haha what a joke. Duke is gonna do it baby. Scheyer Singler Smith Paulus Zubek Williams Thomas Mclure Plumlee King Kelly Czyz come on now
kirbmeist 3 years ago
He coached the the Olympic team. Congratulatoins. Still does not change the fact that Duke has lost several high calibur prospects over the last several seaons due to transfer and early entry. Nor does it change the fact that Duke has missed more than half of their top recruiting targets to other, better programs.Duke is slowly changing which is good but I am sorry if I was a prospect there are better programs right now. That team you mentioned is not special. Should be happy that you got Elliot
chitownmo 3 years ago
Shoot 3s. That is it.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Carolina signed 5 current and former 5 star prospects. All top 70 and below. Duke cannot touch that. UCLA is stacked with a exceptoinal developmental program that stresses sound defense. Memphis has the best perimeter offensive in the nation. Could get Wall, Henry and Favors. Kansas is sound. Georgetown. USC is a new 1 and done star school. Ohio State has produced multiple pros over the last several seasons.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Singler and Williams are the only real players that Duke has. Both should go pro after this season. Scheyer is 2nd rate. Late 2nd round or free agent pickup at best. Smith is solid not special.
chitownmo 3 years ago
um, Gerald Henderson?
Duke has a great class lined up for 2009 and 2010... don't tell me that Duke can't recruit anymore and that kids don't want to go there.
There's certainly a stigma attached to guys like Plumlee and Kelly that they are 'Duke kids' and not that good. They were 5 star prospects before Duke got them, nothing has changed since.
bobsacamano12 3 years ago
Duke will continue to get top talent... great coaching staff, great university, and believe it or not, yes, they've have successful crop of players in the NBA.
bobsacamano12 3 years ago
Yes they do but the majority of them developed AFTER they entered the League. They did not enter that level. Sorry Duke does not develop players for the professional level. Too many bust and mediocre players playing putting up numbers in a non pro style system. Duke is not an NBA team but elite players would like to develop for the abiliity to play in the League. Duke has not consistently done that.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Great class for 09? Wow. Plumlee and Kelly. Great class. Both will be washouts in the League after having "stellar" careers at Duke. Plumlee is no 5 star. Kelly is only due to 09 being a weak class at the top big man wise. Frankly this class is lackluster compared to the past. 2010 is a 5-8 man class as well. 2011 has potential. 3 definite stars in LaQuinton Ross, Anthony Wroten jr. and Mike Gilchrest. 2012 is the next special class. J'Mychal Reese is killing cats right now on varsity.
chitownmo 3 years ago
"Plumlee and Kelly. Great class. Both will be washouts in the League after having "stellar" careers at Duke."
uh you just made my point. already disregarding them because they carry that Duke player stigma.
and Duke doesn't do a good job putting players in the league, yet their only second by UCLA in most NBA players from a college. Nice job with that one.
bobsacamano12 3 years ago
Laetnner, Hill, Boozer, Duhon, Brand, Jay Williams (would've been a great player),Deng all had very succesful rookie years, so obviously they were impacted by Coach K and his system. Dunleavy is the one guy that took a little time to develop.
bobsacamano12 3 years ago
Deng 1 and done. Cannot give K credit for that. Laettner was an average player that was no where near the player he was in college. Brand would have great anywhere he went and frankly from watching film did not change his game 1 iota from when he entered Duke. Duhon, average. Boozer got better AFTER he left Duke. You can see that in his skill set development since he was drafted. Williams. Hopefully but doubtful. Had some nice tools was a bust the little time he was on the floor.
chitownmo 3 years ago
This post is full of excuses. Many one and done players flame out so I will give Coach K credit for that. Boozer and Brand were both impact rookies, no doubt about it they both thrived of off the Duke system. Duhon is average but he's sure had an NBA career that has exceeded most people's expectations. He was a successful rookie as well.
bobsacamano12 3 years ago
Sorry Plumlee and Kelly are not impressive. McRoberts was a much better prospect than both of them and look what happened to him. I know personally that Duke's program . I know the family of one of their former players that is currently in the League and he regrets going there(Guess which one?). You have players drafted by name. Duke is a prestigious school. Like entereing into a company after going to a Ivy league school. Gets your foot in the door automatically in most situations.
chitownmo 3 years ago
They will get the white prospects but black playres are wising up to K and the Duke program. Did not even send a letter to top 2010 prosepct Jeremy Tyler. Knew they would not get him. Will not offer to 2011 stars Tony Wroten, LaQuinton Ross, Michael Gilchrest and 2012 top prospect J'Mychal Reese(know family personally).
chitownmo 3 years ago
Hhahahahaha sour grapes? Florida is so stacked right now. They got Austin Rivers in 2011 and Brandon Knight in 2010 also.
jdsun1 3 years ago
3 black players are attending Duke so far in 10 if you haven't noticed, and I still don't get why it is only Duke you attack who the hell has Roy Williams ever produced??? McCants can't get off the bench, spent his entire first year in the D leage, maybe this trade will help him, Felton when the hell is he supposed to breakout guess who pro analysts always blame for his difficulty. And when is Marvin supposed to become dominant?
zakmi11 2 years ago
Kansas, Georgetown, Texas, Ohio State. Producing better pro porspects with pro systems.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Kansas I'm not seeing it Rush was the 4th best SF in his class and is having a very average first season, Wright was the SF in his class and is not having a very good two years, and Chalmers was the number 2 PG in his class and is having a nice rookie campaign but as for anybody else under Bill Self I will give you Deron Williams but then you could argue Dee Brown who was never going to be great in the pros no matter where he went and typically those are the types of kids Duke recruits
zakmi11 2 years ago
And of the real pro material that has went to Duke being Hill, Brand, Maggette, Deng, and Boozer they have done fine and I think Duke did a good job developing Dunleavy, Battier, and Duhon not real great pro material based of some of there disadvantages but have turned out to pretty good pros. Texas I will give credit for D.J. but like you always argue some players would have been the same anywhere you could say that for Gibson and Lemarcus who still hasn't really broken out yet, Durant no cred
zakmi11 2 years ago
Ohio State has Conley, Oden, Cook, Koufos all under Thad Matta were all one and dones ,and some of the highest rated players in there class and other then Cook (who had a nice rookie campaign on a struggleing Heat team) are being produced in the pros. Now for Georgetown I will give you they did a hell of a job with a not very highly recruited Green and Hibbert but they had a couple down seasons so that could be due to alot of minutes starting early. So given NBA talent players Duke has done fine
zakmi11 2 years ago
And I can garentee you that Duke probably produces more non NBA talent them most other teams in the country hinting that Duke led the NBA this season in pro players at 14 and about half of them were not NBA caliber players coming out of highschool they were projected as only good college players which is what Duke generally recruits but still turns a good portion of them into at least having a pro campaign which is more then alot of other colleges can say
zakmi11 2 years ago
Since Duke just got Ryan Kelly a few days ago, and Mason Plumlee earlier this year, they apparently have some front court players coming, and if he were to commit there also then they would be frontrunners for the national championship their freshmen year. Its probably gonna be Duke.

duke is fallen behind on recruiting. k does recruit way overrated player thow. except kenny boynton who is the best sg in the o9 class
gtgtgtjacket123 3 years ago
The college teams with the most players in the NBA right now are: UConn (13), Duke (12), North Carolina (12). So don't tell me that Coach K can't send people to the NBA. Are you CRAZY?
UNC just recruits a lot earlier than Duke does. By the time the class of '09 rolls around, Duke will have 3-4 big time players.
Bokonon6 3 years ago
that would be cool if he went to georgia tech with d favors
gtgtgtjacket123 3 years ago

jgordon102 3 years ago
Florida all the way. Better developmental system, more receptive coach, closer to home. Duke is a sinking ship. Too many elite prospects are disinterested, subpar development methods(1st hand account from a Duke starter and NBA draftee), and a controlling coach. To bad he does not want to come out west to a Pac 10 school like Arizona, UCLA or USC, a hot one and done school right now.
chitownmo 3 years ago
outside of the fact that my opinions are completely biased but with truth behind them I will say this statment is probably accurate considering Florida turned a bunch of nobody's into somebody's but other than that there in a major rebuilding fase and didn't really help Calathas. And whether Duke is not what they used to be they still always have great seasons and are always 2 to 3 players from another title hence Kenny Boynton ,Jamil Wilson, and a much needed favors which won't happen.
zakmi11 3 years ago
No certainty they will get any of the targets. They lost several 5 star prospects due to their current program(Monroe, Drew Gordon, Reeves Nelson) 3 top 50 transfers(Boykin, Boateng, King). If K does not adapt to modern methods Duke will continue to sink. Just the name DUKE is not going to get prospects to commit anymore. You have to guarantee that you can improve draft stock, skill level and exposure. They have TV time, but their methods are subpar. Other coaches have, it is time he does too.
chitownmo 3 years ago
But then he will just be like the rest of them have excellent seasons every year and win nothing unstead he goes for a slump of just good seasons and trys to let it evolve into something great some times it works sometimes it doesn't
zakmi11 3 years ago
And I could see why UCLA or USC is a major one and done spot because of the beach and everything else but I really don't get why Arizone is but it seems to be one.
zakmi11 3 years ago
Arizona is a beautiful campus with lovely coeds, world class facilities, and pro style system with exceptional development methods and a coach that gives you the change to play your game. K does not do that. He makes you play his system(4-1; 3-2 5 man motion). Olsen will fit your style into the offense.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Your right about your points but if you think about it do they have horrible development methods or great ones. Yah all the all stars don't thrive at Duke because there forced to play as a team but some players who would have never got drafted had they went somewhere else get better and are made a name at Duke. So when they get to the NBA everybody is all bust well it's not that they were busts its just that they looked good enough to get drafted because they could fit in as a team at Duke.
zakmi11 3 years ago
Boateng and Boykin were 5 star prospects out of high school. King was 4 star.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Not only that really all these teams that get one and dones yah there freshmen strive but what do there coaches really ever do for there team yah they have a good season because of the one star but they never walk out with the gold its always the teams that ruin stars Kansas has a number of them and outside of the one and dones so does UCLA
zakmi11 3 years ago
Schools like Carolina, Kansas, UCLA and Memphis are the schools that prospects are looking at. High pro turnouts, either former pro coachers and/or pro style systems. These kids want to play pro ball, not bring glory to their programs, that is secondary.
chitownmo 3 years ago
I see Carolina which I don't get that either Roy doesn't do much help on the NBA level either his three boys couldn't even get drafted where they wanted to and two out of the three were about the best prospects in there class. Kansas doesn't really have anybody in the NBA outside of Pierce at the moment that's worth a damn. UCLA outside of the one and dones ruin stars also by trying to win. And I know that's why Duke ruins stars because they always go for the gold.
zakmi11 3 years ago
Carolina has a pro set system and their methods are exceptional. Who are you referring to as the drafted? Felton is a rising guard, McCants and May are solid, and Williams role is increasing in Atlanta. Lawson, Hansbrough, Green, and Ellington should be drafted next year. Wright is improving and should be a solid pro. Gooden is solid from Kansas. Lafrentz has had a few solid years.
chitownmo 3 years ago
I know but McCants, May, and Felton weren't even recruited by Roy and were built before he got there he just had to show them how to win. And Felton when the hell is going to break out you would think he would have done it by now, May isn't around enough to be solid injured to much, McCants developed in the development league his whole first year. And as far as the other four three of them were top prospects and couldn't even get drafted high this year that's why they went back.
zakmi11 3 years ago
Wright he is getting better but he took awhile he developed at New Orleans, Gooden is good but only a good 3rd or 4th option at best he couldn't help Lebron. And Lafrentz he's the only guy outside of Olowakandi that started good and turned into a bust. And damn I didn't know anybody on here stayed up as late as I did and commented on here
zakmi11 3 years ago
And most of the time Duke doesn't even recruit players that are one and dones. So I'm agreeing yah there program might ruin stars but look at it at a perspective for kids like scheyer for example would never get drafted anywhere else but maybe in the future because Duke makes him look better than he actually is so you can't say there building system is horrible, it just helps a different class of player over another because Duke only involves there time with players who's eyes are on the title
zakmi11 3 years ago
K can coach the college level, never denied that. But when it comes to recruitment, elite prospects make money, win games and improve status. Dukes name is not going to cover it like it used to. They have lost alot of prospects.
chitownmo 3 years ago
agreed but would you rather have great seasons every year but win nothing an lose players after a year every year or wait around on guys that maybe will eventually win something one year if your a coach. And I'm not denying that K doesn't use his stars to there maximum ability but he does build pro futures just for all his players that would be sub par and not drafted anywhere else by using his stars ability to make others seem better so it's like a team thing till the end
zakmi11 3 years ago
Carolina has signed or received verbal commits from 9 5 star prospects within the last season alone so far. Duke has not recruited at such high level in years. Duke lost Monroe, Drew Gordon, Reeves Nelson, Leslie McDonald, Dexter Strickland, Lance Stephenson, the Wear twins, and will most likely lose Wall, Wilson, Vinson, Cheek, Boynton, Knight and other elite prospects. When Olek Czyz and Mason Plumlee are your top big man prospects, something is wrong.
chitownmo 3 years ago
I'll give you Monroe Drew Gordon they didn't offer, Reeves Nelson is a 4 star so not a huge loss, Leslie Mcdonald yes but only a 4 star and had other reasons then what we are discussing for going to UNC, Dexter Strictland Duke didn't even offer, Lance I'm not sure about not enough info on him because Duke wasn't even on his list, and the wear twins Duke had no interest in plus I would rather have the Plumlees anyway. I agree on Wall which there not recruiting hard enough
zakmi11 3 years ago
Wilson maybe to because for some damn reason they won't offer him probably because K thinks he's a one and done, Vinson hasn't even been offered but I do believe that if Duke offered he would end his recruitment because he's only a four star developing anyway just the type Duke makes famous, Cheek I don't even think Duke offered him, And Boynton and Knight are a package deal which might be good for Duke because Boynton would do fine if he would stay for two year that way him and K would both get
zakmi11 3 years ago
Duke was interested in all of those players. They did not offer because they probably thought they would not commit.
chitownmo 3 years ago
I don't know maybe they were I just go but what I read and some of those player it didn't even look like Duke was recruiting them that hard or at all and Monroe I don't know what you think of hime but something tells me has overrated I've watched him play and I was very unimpressed
zakmi11 3 years ago
Reeves is a future pro. Has the body, improving skills and intangibles. McDonald was a 5 star since 8th grade, until a mediocre spring evaluation period. They were high on Strickland, that is confirmed through reports on him you can read on Rivals and Scout.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Yah Reeves is impressive. Agreed about McDonald but he's a middle class man's version of E Will anyway. And I never say anything on Strickland I'm suprise K would have recruited him but I can believe it if Roy did they seem to recruit the same type of player well until as of lately, the ones who need time to be good and will stay a few years
zakmi11 3 years ago
what they want. Anyway any word on Favors
zakmi11 3 years ago
They are not even sniffing at Jeremy Tyler. He is either UCLA, USC or Europe. Wroten, LaQuinton Ross, Michael Gilchrest and J-Mychal Reese do not have Duke on their interest lists. I do not see any elite prospects past 2010 that has Duke high on their interest list.

sneakertalk 3 years ago
Really dude? Jay williams scrub? That man dominated. Individual talents dont do well at Duke? Try Elton Brand, Shain Battier, Carlos Boozer, Greg Paulus, though his performance has been somewhat dissappointing was a top ranked prospect. Oh and what about Grant Hill?! If you want a recent example try Luol Deng, he went to duke, was picked as the mvp of the first part of the NCAA tournament, and then became a star in the NBA. Maby you are the one who needs to learn more about basketball.

Deng: 1 and done, barely at Duke
Brand: Left the same player he was when he got there
Maggette: 1 and Done

Boozer: Developed in the NBA, not at Duke
Hurley: Bust, had a life threatening injury

Boozer: had confidence issues before he entered Duke and really wasn't that highly sought for before going to Duke hence not making the Alaskan top 40 out of highschool if anything Duke not only made some what of a name if you read 5 point play you'll see how he develops confidence and work ethic.
Hurly: probably wouldn't have been much but career was over by injury
zakmi11 3 years ago
Boozer was a McDonald's All American. He was decent at Duke, not great. He developed in the League, work ethic or not. K's skill development methods are subpar compared to other coaches such as UCONN's Calhoun, Arizona's Olsen, UCLA's Howland, Kansas' Self and Florida's Donovan. Their players are more pro ready with NBA bodies on average.

zakmi11 3 years ago
Williams was a bust. His game was not NBA ready, even before the injury. Charles Oakley, his teammate even stated that he is only good when he has the ball in his hands.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Nelson: hope he pans out. Going to Duke was the biggest mistake he has made in his career so far. No this for a fact as an insider
Singler: should be a solid pro, regardless whther he chose Duke or not, should have went to UCLA, or another school with a better development system
Scheyer: late 2nd round bust at best
Paulus: not NBA calibur, Europe at best
Elliot Williams: Should have went to Tennessee or Memphis. Better system with better athletes
Boynton: Hope Florida
Knight: just not Duke
chitownmo 3 years ago
this is a clearly biased opinion Nelson wasn't ruined at Duke injurys ruined his career and he's just not athletic enough or a good enough shooter or tall enough for that matter for the pros and most of those guys on your list were recruited to be good college players not NBA players, and Boozers work ethic to get better developed at Duke. And you can't call Jay Williams a bust if he had a career ending injury. And why would he go to Florida they have that's good Horford and Miller and then ???
zakmi11 3 years ago
Injuries had an effect, especially considering transfer, but I know first hand that he regretted going there. His brother will never attend Duke and is a Top 25 2011 prosect. Nelson is a solid athlete. 40+ inch vertical, exceptional strength. His shooting does need improvement. His niche will be as a cut and finisher, and perimeter defender.
chitownmo 3 years ago
his verticle was listed lower than that at the NBA draft camp. And I don't think he regretted going there. And I agree with you about what his niche will be.
zakmi11 3 years ago
just kno this kenny Boynton will not sign a LOI to the Duke Blue Devils. Just trust me
sneakertalk 3 years ago
You don't exactly go out on a limb with this one, Kenny has made it very clear that he doesn't have a leader right now, so saying he won't go to one of the schools out of his 5 finalists isn't exactly taking a risk.
bballguy14 3 years ago

Of course you can name some kids who panned out, but you can name just as many busts like Shav, Crawford Palmer, Chris Burgess, etc.
stonedog23 3 years ago
He did his sophomore, but not his freshmen and i believe not his junior or senior (correct me if i am wrong). Shaun livingston might not have gotten injured at duke, seeing as it is only a 30~ game season rather than a 82 game season. Also duke athletes go to acclaimed duke medical center where politions with unlimitted bank roles go. Everyone has busts, but how many schools can you name with that many good current pros? Besides, shav and thoes others just show that big names do go to duke.
w00twootw0otwo0t 3 years ago
Shaun Livingston just has one of those bodies that will not co-operate with his talent. He is going to injury prone his entire career and may never reach his full potential. Dook athletes go to Dook Med Center, and...? Carolina athletes go to their medical school, also a well respected facility. You mention the NBA being a 82 game season, but Shaun has been getting hurt within the number of games of a college season. He didn't make it to 30 games this year.
stonedog23 3 years ago
Maby shaun livingston would have been injured at duke, but that is off point, the point is top names DO go to Duke. Also, if people get held back how can a duke guard compete for the scoring title like JJ did? The fact is, top names go to duke, Boynton could. Many players have become good after going to Duke, and Boynton may want to follow that path.
w00twootw0otwo0t 3 years ago
Look again, the top names have been shunning "dook" repeatedly. The so called top ones who do go are seriously overrated, ie Shav, McRoberts. They were garbage at dook. Taylor King was also overrated, K wouldn't even play him. Singler and Henderson are good, but K is playing them out of position, especially Singler who is getting overpowered trying to play inside. No one said Redick was held back, he was a good college player(no NBA skills). His scoring title was the result of the "THE O"
stonedog23 3 years ago
Look again, the top players are going to Carolina. Their next two recruiting classes are monster ones, period!!! This year Ed Davis, Larry Drew, next year the Wear Twins, John Henson, Dexter Strickland, and Leslie McDonald. The year after that Reggie Bullock, Kendall Marshall, and a BIG to be named later. Dook is falling way behind in recruiting impact players.
stonedog23 3 years ago
Mike averaged 13.5 his freshman year, no one expected him to average 20 a game as a frosh. He was not held back, he was the #3 option on that team behind James Worthy(#1 pick in the draft) and Sam Perkins. The following year Worthy left and Mike (as a soph) averaged 20 a game, which was a rarity for a Dean Smith Carolina-coached team. His junior year he averaged 19 and repeated his National Player of the Year accolades. He didn't play a senior season.

Kobe would have been 1 and done, college was a waste of his time as a player.

How do you figure? Coach K loves to play small ball, Nolan Smith and Kenny could switch between the 1 & 2, and Elliot Williams could play the 3.

Peace to young Kenny representing BROWARD COUNTY. I played against his older brother for years... Kenny lit up the floor against my alma matter when he was with Ely & only a freshman
wex11788 3 years ago
even if Duke gets Kenny Boynton and Leslie McDonald...they still need a strong, effective rebounder/scorer in the post...
they are lacking a good power forward/center since Shelden Williams graduated and entered the NBA draft...
DeShaun Thomas seems like a long shot...a VERY BIG long shot
Deshawn Painter has eliminated Duke from his list
Reeves Nelson committed to UCLA and Greg Echenique committed to Rutgers...
I know we have Mason Plumlee...but we need someone like Greg Monroe...
Darn...

How many KB vids you gonna post this on?

Him and Brandon Knight would be the 2010 version of JWill/Duhon. Throw in Leslie and Elliot and that backcourt is unstoppable. Elite speed, elite scoring, elite athleticism, elite defense. No weaknesses in that backcourt.
jgordon102 3 years ago 3
FLORIDA CAN NOT GET HIM! THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY SCHOLARSHIP OFFERS FOR 2009!
IMO it's gunna be down to Texas and Duke.
He said "I want to play in a Phoenix Suns style of offense."
DUKE: CHECK!
"I want to go to a school with very good academics."
DUKE: CHECK!
"I want to be surrounded by a great coach and staff."
DUKE: CHECK!

Yes, he does pass and he can pass, but he likes to shoot obviously. Much like Jay Williams, Jay being a tad bigger and stronger with Kenny having a tad bit more skill.
mrjonsey 3 years ago
Does he ever pass? Nice mid range game, jumper is slightly ugly but effective I guess.
bburrell3321 3 years ago
U obviously don't know that they play on the same AAU Team:
Team Breakdown.
nahiyan22 3 years ago
Oh yeah...and of course, Brandon Knight...
hopefully Kenny B's influence/connection with Brandon will help Duke recruit him
and I am hoping Elliott Williams is trying to recruit his good friend and rival Leslie to come to Duke.
Man, imagine the backcourt Duke would theoretically have in 2 years (assuming everything goes well)...
Kenny B.
Leslie McDonald
Brandon Knight
Three All-Americans...
nahiyan22 3 years ago
Brandon and Kenny's connection is that they both play in Florida. I don't think it goes much beyond that. Keep dreaming.

Check ur facts...
U obviously don't know that they play on the same AAU Team: Team Breakdown.
nahiyan22 3 years ago
You're right. I forgot about AAU.
Duke can have Boynton. BK will be a Gator though.
CarlBratonananaluski 3 years ago
I am hoping (as a Duke fan) that we can get both Kenny B. and Leslie McDonald.
From what I have heard/read...IU is really going for him too but with Sampson's problems...he may have completely dropped the Hoosiers out of the picture.

chitownmo, STFU you sound like a little scrawny nerd who has never been laid before...NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK. You are worthless to the human race, kill yourself and make the world a better place.

Although i want him to go to Duke, I can't picture him in a Duke uniform.
So I guess he's gunna go to Texas.
Especially since we are LOADED with guards. EMAIL, Nolan, Jon, Leslie(He's gunna go to Duke).
cameroncrazie818 4 years ago
Look at the 3:15 when he gets the steal in the black jersey. It takes him two dribbles with the basketball to get to the rim with a layup. Thats how fast he is with the basketball. A.I. esque, two different styles, but both elite scorers and playmakers with the basketball. Best scoring PG since A.I.
mrjonsey 4 years ago
u ppl are missing the pt...
Kenny B. is one of the elite bball players in the class of 2009. I am glad he is considering Duke...
Another player that is reckoned to be a force...Leslie McDonald. Check him out. He's another stud.
Elliott Williams (who committed to Duke-class of 2008) is good friends with L. McDonald...hopefully he is trying to bring him to Duke.
nahiyan22 4 years ago
Kenny Boynton is a 5 star prospect as he should be. He is a lethal scorer with a deadly pull up jumpshot from 20 feet and in off the dribbble with solid quickness. The Eric Gordon comparisions from members on Rivalsdotcom are not valid, but he is a exceptional prospect. McDonald as well. If Duke gets them, great, but if they do not, then back to the target board. Losing Monroe, Drew Gordon, Reeves Nelson, and Dexter Strickland was hard, especially Monroe.
chitownmo 4 years ago
He's coming to Duke!!!
Cameronkrzy4life 4 years ago
If he does great, if not back to the target board.
chitownmo 3 years ago
Hey chitownmo...
Get your facts straight before dogging a school.
deathrowrecords 4 years ago
I have my facts straight from a current source. And Duke's methods are subpar and that has been documented for years. I have seen some myself. Did you see me previous posts? Most of their players are average or busts. Only Hill is a true superstar, Dawkins was solid, Boozer developed once he played in the League, and Maggette, Brand and Deng were their for a short time. They used Duke as a springboard into the League and developed there, not Duke.
chitownmo 4 years ago
1 season is irrelevant, I am talking about careers. Hill's was damaged by his injuires. Deng is playing an the most underachieving team in the League. Maggette is solid and has been for years, but is no star. Duhon is average regardless of his season. Do not even bring Redick into the equation. The most 1 dimensional player in Duke history. Brand and Boozer are All-Stars, but if you read my previous posts, it had almost nothing to do with going to Duke, they developed in the League.
chitownmo 4 years ago
Shelden got a new team, bet he still doesnt get enough time on court to see people hes good.
robbiemo10 4 years ago
I hope he does not go to Duke unless K and his staff improve their development methods. I like Duke's tradition, but their development methods are subpar for the next level. That is why they lose 5 star prospects like Greg Monroe. They train you for the system but when they go pro, majority are average or busts.
chitownmo 4 years ago
You moron, name another program that currently has as many NBA studs in the league.
garyredusgmailcom 4 years ago
