Ubuntu is easy to use but over the time, the person who used to be a newbie, should be capable or start using command line. There are things that no matter what, you will never ever be able to do via GUI. And it's not BS!, it's what it is. That's why HP UX, Red Hat, etc, are used in big Enterprises, not Ubuntu Desktop but Server (no GUI)

I agree with many of your points (nearly all of them even) in this video, but the reason I use Windows over Linux is cause my Uni requires me to use programs for work which only really function on Windows itself. And another reason I use Windows is because its very basic, and the navigation on it is very straightforward (bar Vista, Vista was dumb). I also don't have the time for any command line nonsense, it just has to work, and that's it! I use Firefox though. It pwns IE, for anything. lol

@ThExR3V0LVER the main problem is under Ubuntu 10.04, that my cpu resources get on 100% if i play counter strike source for 15 Minutes. And if that happend css start lagging and the fps goes down. And its unplay able. However, when i look what kind of programms are running in the backround, no wonder that after 15 minutes css goes down because to many programms eating the cpu resourcces. I,ve got an AMD 4000+ 64 bit and even steam works perfect under wine and Playonlinux

By far Mac Snow leopard is the best. No overhead crap as in Win7 and less terminal then Linux and a unified installer (Not everything is .deb)
But I want a system that boots allways. Running an I7 6 gig mem etc, but windows still sucks on it so I use Ubuntu 10.04 for daily use except gaming. And on my rig it works snappy.
Ok, most of the new games are made for windows. The funny thing is that I tried one of them and on linux with windows emulator I got more FPS than on windows :D Every windows freak says that linux is a crap because they either never tried or doesnt have the intelligence to use it. (or they gave up too early, as I said it was strange for me too first)
Well I switched to linux years ago from XP and I can say that Ubuntu is much better O/S. (I tried out Vista and win7 too but I didn't like them and when I bought my motherboard they hadn't existed yet and there haven't been made any vista driver)
It was strange first. It doesn't need any driver, faster, securer and has every application I would ever need. I can do anything with my O/S I want, and many things are easier to do here. And of course it's free and is developed by a community.

Windows is not crap man,linux is not crap and mac it's not crap. On 7 the speed is still the same. I use linux only for surfing and that's from a hirens boot cd. But for my games I use windows, becouse I like viruses to play online games. Compiz does get old, multiple workspaces don't, but compiz can. I use all the huge effects, but Linux is so much more productive than Windows in all areas.

Ubuntu is easy to use but over the time, the person who used to be a newbie, should be capable or start using command line. There are things that no matter what, you will never ever be able to do via GUI. And it's not BS!, it's what it is. That's why HP UX, Red Hat, etc, are used in big Enterprises, not Ubuntu Desktop but Server (no GUI)

I agree with many of your points (nearly all of them even) in this video, but the reason I use Windows over Linux is cause my Uni requires me to use programs for work which only really function on Windows itself. And another reason I use Windows is because its very basic, and the navigation on it is very straightforward (bar Vista, Vista was dumb). I also don't have the time for any command line nonsense, it just has to work, and that's it! I use Firefox though. It pwns IE, for anything. lol

@ThExR3V0LVER the main problem is under Ubuntu 10.04, that my cpu resources get on 100% if i play counter strike source for 15 Minutes. And if that happend css start lagging and the fps goes down. And its unplay able. However, when i look what kind of programms are running in the backround, no wonder that after 15 minutes css goes down because to many programms eating the cpu resourcces. I,ve got an AMD 4000+ 64 bit and even steam works perfect under wine and Playonlinux

By far Mac Snow leopard is the best. No overhead crap as in Win7 and less terminal then Linux and a unified installer (Not everything is .deb)
But I want a system that boots allways. Running an I7 6 gig mem etc, but windows still sucks on it so I use Ubuntu 10.04 for daily use except gaming. And on my rig it works snappy.

Ok, most of the new games are made for windows. The funny thing is that I tried one of them and on linux with windows emulator I got more FPS than on windows :D Every windows freak says that linux is a crap because they either never tried or doesnt have the intelligence to use it. (or they gave up too early, as I said it was strange for me too first)

Well I switched to linux years ago from XP and I can say that Ubuntu is much better O/S. (I tried out Vista and win7 too but I didn't like them and when I bought my motherboard they hadn't existed yet and there haven't been made any vista driver)
It was strange first. It doesn't need any driver, faster, securer and has every application I would ever need. I can do anything with my O/S I want, and many things are easier to do here. And of course it's free and is developed by a community.

Here, we are talking about OPERATION SYSTEMS and not the applications that comes with it. anyone can download any application if they need! Windows is designed form the ground up to be easy to use yet deliver power needed for businesses and developers. Windows is not crap man,linux is not crap and mac it's not crap. On 7 the speed is still the same. I use linux only for surfing and that's from a hirens boot cd. But for my games I use windows, becouse I like viruses to play online games. And the only thing you will be stupid is becouse you will stay limited on linux or mac,and may be you will be limited windows, and the best way is to be universal and use it all if you can use windows, linux ,mac ,ubuntu or any other os or kernel.

@gotbletu man i understand everything your talking about i did like the exact same thing i was just using windows one day and i was like...fuck it. i wiped my whole hard drive and installed ubuntu, i had one doubt about switching which was ubuntu's lack of ipod touch support. but then a couple months later 10.04 comes out and you got ipod support. know i couldnt be happier. fuck windows bill gates can suck my nuts.

@chantinginmysleep: Until Linux supports the kind of games that DirectX offers its not gonna grow well. Linux has too many versions, people got frustrated when vista came out in 8 versions, what do they have to say to the 500 Linux versions? Windows is the perfect platform for todays world, it can make money and it can have open source programs too, and because Windows has so much to do with money and is so popular it will stay popular for a long long time to come, the only enemy is OS X.

lol Windows 7 rocks, nothing like Vista altough I never had even 1 problem with Vista. And I didnt notice any slowdown on my computer since October last year and I use my PC a lot, more then just browsing the internet and playing games. Linux sofware isnt as good as Windows software, compare Open Office with MS office.

@gotbletu: still compare the way firefox looks on Linux and windows, Linux has a GUI for kids, by default when I installed Ubuntu I felt lke my 22" monitor turned in to a 17" monitor, everything is so big and he the fonts are just fat, I had to change that manually to get somewere close to Windows 7 and still it was strange. another thing to point out, resizing windows: when I put my mouse in the corner of the window to resize it it suddenyly just snapped it self to the corner of the window. wtf

@kalasnikov47 GUI for kids? Linux has many UI u can choose from, why would expect Ubuntu look like win7? if u want the win7 look then use KDE, not a big deal. Ur monitor looks like 17inch, maybe try changing the resolution. Snaps it self in the corner u probably have compiz snap windows enable. Looks like ur just another person that doesn't even understand linux to criticize about it. yawn

@gotbletu: Your a bit wrong about that, Linux GUI looks good if you came from an older operating system maybe windows XP or 2000, But when you come from Windows 7 you see the difference, the GUI is outdated man and those crappy linux themes when I choose a black theme with black contols and load open office the paper is black, wtf? Linux isnt that bad but it has a long way to go, by the way, whats with the ubuntu mouse pointer? I would draw a better one for sure :(

Open Office loads up fine, is a problem on ur end. There is nothing wrong with the mouse pointer, ur the one making a big deal out of it, is what is wrong. Plz learn to use Linux b4 dissing it, I can tell u have very little experience with it. Just like most of the people coming here to argue with me.

@gotbletu: Had KDE ubuntu, SUSE, nothing like windows 7. There is nothing wrong with the default gnome mouse pointer? compare the one in windows to gnome, looks like like lttle kids drew it.
There is no problem on my end with Open office, it happenes to me on Gnome Ubuntu, Mint and on KDE ubuntu too, when I use black controls in the theme everything inculding the paper in Open Office is black, wtf -.- And there is no deecent messaging program for linux, if you think Pidgin is cool look at icq.

And why should I get a icon pack, ubuntu says its ready out of the box so I shouldent have to install any packs that I dont even know where to download. And "rythm box" damn you cant even copmare that to WMP 12, last time I had a media player like that was windows 98

@gotbletu: I care about that shit, its not big and bloated, it plays songs instantly and looks much better then rythmbox, sereousely Linux sholud work on its GUI big time. Another thing is drivers, I have the nVidia GeForce 250GTS, this is important because I'm a 3d artist. On windows drivers were no problem but in linux ubuntu and mint trouble started, I dlded the drivers from nvidia and took me half an hour to figure out the sudo command and permissions, then it said I dont have a GTS250 wtf?

Compiz does get old, multiple workspaces don't, but compiz can. I use all the huge effects, but Linux is so much more productive than Windows in all areas.

@chantinginmysleep: Actually I love windows, its easy to use all my drivers work, looks better and if I get windows blinds I can have so many themes that ubuntu cant even image, the 3d modeling programs, texture programs, games etc.. work ONLY on Windows, doing a smiple google search for something will give you a free program for any purpouse. By the way I never had any kind of problem or slow performance on Windows 7, so can you point out one way in why ubuntu is better then windows 7?
