Some friends of mine had a band called the Dollfiends. They used to play Shanghied because it was just too cool. Our drummer used to get quite a workout. I used to drive the band to their gigs because I was the only one who hadn't lost his drivers license by the time we were seniors. We sure had fun.
This one is a Northwest classic, featuring the great work of
the late Richard Dangel, guitar, and guiding musical force, along with Kent Morrill, lead singer and keys. Check the fade in and fade out drum licks of Mike Burke. NOBODY does that.
One of the greatest rock instrumentals of all time
I first picked up on them in about 1962, when I saw their single "Mau Mau" b/w
"Dirty Robber". It had their picture on the label--pretty unheard of in those days--and they looked cool. Got the album a couple years later--"Wailin'" and "Shanghaied" are the best, but everything is good (well, maybe not "Driftwood", and the album version of "Dirty Robber" isn't as frantic). Old rock instrumentals rule!
Great Song Danielle..And Still loving muchly the other Wailers song on your Channel 'Hang Up' that Song i play so much after seeing it on your page awhile back..thanks ~Jay~
