Sorry, but any deep investigation into any field of inquiry usually involves a narrowing of scope so what you have in the end is minutiae and details. Yes it's dry and boring. Consider that we are communicating through a system (computer internet) that an amalgam of people who labored for years on the little details, put together. That's the difference between a specialist ie. a doctor, and a generalist. In the end, however, you can probably tell an educated person from an uneducated one.
