she had to be reborn. in order for that to happen, she had to enter her urn (the pot holding her ashes) so that the sunlight doesn't hit her, as it can destroy her spirit. choi sin had to take her urn with her spirit inside and bury it near her hometown (i think). this is why the ending is so sad. they clearly love each other, but can never see each other again.

this is one of the best hk movie of all time. not just being a ghost movie but overall because of the story, the direction, the cinematography, the effects & ofcourse the music. hell! even the original poster was cool.

yup.. they scaped from hell but sadly shed died because of the sunlight.. well...... at least that's what i though i understand when i first saw this movie.. i was 4 back then and there's no sub titles.. and even if there is, i cant read it.. ^_^ if you liked this movie, please watch "eternity : chinese ghost story".. its a remake of this movie..
