Slipknot and Korn aren't really "heavy form of rap and hip hop", there are specific genres like death rap (Necro) or horrorcore (Psych Ward) that really are heavier forms of hip-hop music and honestly I like them way more than popular hiphop crap like 50Cent or Eminem. Some time ago Metallica was considered non-metal crossover band because they didn't sound like old metal bands like Judas Priest. I am trying to say that genre classification is not a matter of opinion. Slipknot and Korn are metal bands, you may like them or not. As I said before, I don't like them, I like different kinds of metal.

Mayhem is metal and Slipknot is metal. Some people seem to have a hard time understanding that there are a many sub-genres of metal music. More heavy=more metal?

I personally prefer black (and death) metal to nu metal and to my ears black metal is easier to listen, because I WANT to listen to it and I pay attention to what I hear, the opposite situation with nu metal. So such bands as Slipknot are really noisy and annoying for me. I am not a fan of aggressive music.

I bought De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas after reading somewhere that it was one of the 10 best BM albums and to me it sounds fucking ridiculous and silly, and this is no better. Old Immortal is what I consider real Black Metal and is much better than anything I've heard from Mayhem.
