  • f major seven kills me, too

  • sweet man! good fucking tutorial mate! nice and easy!

  • Hi Justin. Great lesson, I just wanted to rectify something. This song was originally by Lori Lieberman in response to the Don McLean song « Empty chairs ». Later popularized by Roberta Flack.

Thanks for all your well-made tutorials.

  • @66iguana right...that's exactly what i was going to comment

  • Hey Justin!!! you rock:) thanks for your videos

  • love your accent <3

  • Thanks for this - a really useful video, and not just for beginners. I needed to learn this song quickly for a dep with a functions band, and you've made it easy - we're playing it in F, so it's just a matter of sliding the capo down a couple of frets. And you're right - Kyser capos rule! I've had one for years without realising that's what it was. They're so practical compared with the old style ones, and you can just whip them on and off during a gig. Cheers and thanks once again!

  • thanks a lot for the lesson justin.. but i really got scared at the end of the vodeo.. heering that animal and sawing it... you know.. you get scared in moments you were not expecting it would happen.. i was learning the stuff and at the end so ein beest.. anyway justin i am not mad or angry.. i love your lessons ... and keep on rocking my freind... peace and love for all over the world..

  • Just found some of your lessons on here, and as a beginner Ive found them really helpful, easy to follow and interesting.

Many thanks Justin, off now to have a look-see what other songs i can learn all in the space of 10 minutes! Mwah! x

  • dw if you dont have a capo just tape a pencil over the strings, that was my 1st capo :L

  • HAHAHA yeah man I love this. I literally laughed out loud with the substituting the chords for the words. But seriously man you're a great teacher, I love your lessons. This is a simple song but you're a master my friend, keep on rockin. "That's for two baas. 'With his E major'...which is also for two baas." haha that's quality. Made my night.

  • thank ya for all justin!!!I do not understand everything you say in your videos because I am French^^ but I play better because of you...jah bless you.......:)))

  • Thank goodness it's not a F chord when it's "And there he F this young boy..."LOL

Just some trivia tho, wasnt htis song written about roberta flack seeing don mclean?

    Greetings from Germany

  • @redscull i'm learning guitar off his website and he does all of his songs like this. it's incredibly helpful when i transcribe a song and then can just listen to him play and see if it matches what i came up with. (i didn't expect that Fmaj7). what's funny is that now when i teach someone a song, i say the chord names mixed with lyrics just like he does, hehe. what a great teacher he is!!

  • great stuff Justin you r the best teacher!!really thank you you have made a long time dream come true for me keep up the great work

    PS apegio's rock

  • I thought it was about Don McLean?

  • nice song...

  • Great lesson again! Couple of questions - do you have some picking pattern lessons - like the way you were showing at the end? Maybe a beginner's dvd on how to learn to do picking in a song? And do you take requests for song lessons? Thank you so much.

  • Justin thanks so much!!!! You have made learning to play so much easier. You are a fantastic teacher.I am going to may a contribution to your web site and encourage everyone else to do so as well.

  • That was great Justin...we all appreciate the time you spend to teach us how to play these nice tunes....You Rock!!!

  • Thanks Justin..I appreciate the time and effort you put forth to help out those that wish to learn this classic song. It's been a favorite of mine since it came out when I was a youngster. I was having problems with putting a few of the chords together also. BTW I personally love Roberta Flack's rendition the very best. I don't think all people are really vicious when -with class-correcting some info as to precise origin of certain songs. Some people are quite unkind tho. Thanks again, and Peace.

  • Sorry Justin I dont mean to sound like an ass, but I just want to correct the info for the song.

The song was originally written by Lori Lieberman in 1971/1972 after seeing Don McLean perform at the Troubadour in L.A. The song started as a poem (Killing me softly with his blues) about her reaction to Don's song called "Empty Chairs". She then had the poem turned into song lyrics by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox. She was the fist to record Killing Me Softly With His Song.

  • interesting thanks :) J
