  • Would all the Microsoft Flight Sim 'Experts' please exit this video....stage right. My god...sounds like a bunch of 16-21 yr old Flight Sim Captains who have the answer to everything concerning pilots and what they do......... Yet, most probably can't drive their honda accord to the grocery store with wrecking someones car. Just because you have 100,000 hours of MS Flight Sim logged on your desktop does not make you all authorities on pilot salary and workloads.

  • He sent out over 1,000 resumes and cover letters trying to find a new job afterwards. But no one would hire him because he was overqualified. Eventually he got a job offer. In England. So we moved from Oak Park, IL to Bolton, England where we lived for eight years. He was the financial director [basically, CFO] in this job and was underpaid, so money was tight. Eventually he found a job in Chicago and we moved back to the US.

  • @SOCKEMBOPPERZ1 What "stuff" brought down AF447? It's certainly wasn't thunderstorms. The pilots got unreliable airspeed. One pilot pulled up, increasing the angle of attack, and eventually stalled the aircraft.

  • @gradfark according to what investigators were able to find from the black box, the pitot tubes may have iced over (the airspeed indicator and other instruments get their reading from them) The result was faulty airspeed indications, which kicked off the autopilot ending in an unrecoverable stall. There were three pilots on board, and the captain was taking a break at the time, with the least experienced copilot flying..hope this helps somewhat

  • @gradfark yeah but the reason the got unreliable airspeed was because the pitot tubes froze because there was super cooled water in the thunder storms of course there probably isnt any super cooled water in this storm and i may be exaggerating but it looks like a similar storm pattern the the pilots tried to dodge around

  • @DanFrederiksen part2: some pilots get over paid and under paid.you need to know lots of things.after the lufthansa test you need to pass like all pilots the cpl commercial pilot licence and thats to very hard and not cheap.our presidents really dont give a shit about anything they just want money and be inportant those presidents are out there and doing NOTHING. Pilots have life in their hand with 1 wrong move every one can die pilots have responzebility in there hands!!! LIKE!!! ALL PILOT FANS

  • @DanFrederiksen my dad is i pilot a fleet chef and a instructur. To be a pilot you need to be very good in math.you probaly know the airline lufthansa.those are the most payed pilots that exists.they earn as i captain 12k (euro) a month thats 14k us dollar.when 1000 people take the lufthansa test only 90-150 people pass thats very little because they need to be good in the subjects and they need to have the right carcter my dad was in the lufthansa test and passed it and that is very hard .

  • Pilots moaning about pay is pointless, no matter how shit the pay is there will always be people willing to do that job for less. That's how it is and that's how it will stay. Most pilots under 30 knew what they were getting into but thy did it because that's what they wanted to do. Being a pilot is hardly like being forced to work in a labour camp. If the wages are too low get another job.

  • @av8or757 Being a pilot usually is not too stressful. I went to my cousins High School for a presentation and a kid asked why I love being a pilot, and I said "because flying those things is fun as SHIT!" Now president.....that's a hell of a job.....

He works more than 60 hours a week, 7 days a week sometimes and has no choice because if he didn't, the company he works for would go to shit and then we'd be homeless. Last year my medical expenses were over $100,000 AFTER insurance and if my dad didn't work as hard as he does my entire family would be completely screwed.

He paid his own room and board by working all through school, and his parents only afforded his undergrad tuition because they saved up money his entire life for it.

He has worked for his money every step of the way since. When he was the CEO of a certain company [I'm not disclosing which one] he turned around their entire financial situation so the company got sold instead of going out of business. Then, after all that, they laid him off.

C'mon - most CEOs would love to work the number of hours every month that long-haul pilots work. Where do people get the idea that CEOs work 20 hours a week for their big checks? Most of them have only one life - WORK. If pilots were working 60-80 hour weeks the industry would be a disaster area.

Also, this is not bus driver work. pilots pay tens of thousands training to become extremely well educated and trained in their work. not only this, but think of the stress. little sleep, 16 days a month away from home, and*taking the lives of hundreds of trusting passengers into your their hands every day*

    I'm disgusted by what you have said. driving a bus and flying a plane are nothing alike. being a pilot comes with enormous stress and responsibility, and there is almost zero tolerance for mistakes. It is an extremely prestigious, challenging, disciplined career. show some respect.

    and polymath has nothing to do with math. it's an old term that means expertise in multiple areas as opposed to say a physicist that focuses only on physics.

    I know pilot training is typically very expensive, often they are fighter pilots where only the best of the applicants are accepted. and flying a plane is more complicated than driving a bus. but it's nothing like the presidency.

  • @DiamondPilotDan Exactly. My mom was actually hit by a bus when she was 7 because the bus driver drove up and over the curb [my mom wasn't even in the street]. The bus driver didn't even get fired, even though there was medical proof of injury.

  • @DanFrederiksen Actually the President doesn't have that many responsibilities and unless he gets impeached, he gets paid regardless of whether he does his job or not. That said, it is a stressful job because the President gets blamed for everything that goes wrong, even though he doesn't have that much to do with it.

  • @leon6266 HA. That is so far from the truth... Even if it were, most pilots will never reach that spot. In the US you would be lucky to bust $100K. I work the ramp at an airport here in the US and I make more than the first year FOs (at least for the regionals).

  • @asm6ekyu GPS equipment will "model" the aircraft against a horizon making night flying a peace of cake, added by weather satellite inputs and traditional radars, we're good :) and worry mechanical / structural / electrical failure which is rare compared to the HUGE amount of pilot errors. I still maintain, your screwed up French ego :) airbus sucks boeing rocks :) I don't care what the airbus data say, my experience tops boeing any day!

  • Another thing... I have been on a lot of flight decks (DC-10) (727) (L-1011) and I can tell you that the turbulence you feel on the flight deck is much less noticeable than in the cabin. If the flight deck is getting bounced around like this video indicates then they are REALLY FEELING IT in the cabin. They should have gone around. Looks like a pattern to me of French Pilots dogging it no matter what the hell the radar is showing.

  • @andybuzz2u No it isn't. There are companies that profit off of filming the cockpit during all stages of flight. It's hard to do in the USA because you are under the jurisdiction of the FAA but it's different elsewhere.

  • @etc1338 Nope... If it was a simulator, there would be a screen interference and a difference on the light. In a simulator, the screen doesn't get pitch black. And the bank angle is on 30º which on some aircrafts it's the maximum that they can bank. Cheers m8, have a good day! :D

  • It looks like from the weather radar they are going in between a few cells around the edges ..but you san see the bright red and violet thats level 4 and 5 lots of rain and severe turbulence and winds right there.. my dad used to have to vector around alot of weather like this up in the midwest back when he used to fly for Braniff.

  • yes on the weather radar, they are proably trying to deviate or go in between the cells...sometimes they can go over weather but alot of this stuff has 50 and 60,000 foot tops on it...so they try to find openings to go through or deviate to go around stuff..sometimes up to 100 nautical miles or more to stear clear of weather like this..

  • @bundfund These planes nearly fly themselves. Some pilots appriciate the advances in tech. Some prefer the old days, it all depends on who you talk too. Most that do not approve of the new tech are affraid of the loss of control and computer failure. But there are so many redundant systems for safety and even manual overrides that the plane can be flown entirely by hand if needed. It just takes out some possible pilot error.
