When I walk on the streets I listen to this music, I feel like I was in old times in a great journey, the beautiful sky and the stars shining, but then I notice I live in a different time, a time of greed and fear where people don't respect each other. I wish I was born at the time of the great warriors, when respect and honor spoke louder.
I know its metal and probably should not say this but considering everything, the instrumental side, the lyrics and the way its sung, the only word I can come up with that aptly describes this song is.... Beautiful
@joeliscool24 yeah... singing about the evening star, how the evening star has lead him, how alone it is, but how strong it shines it is, then he says "the evening star, to me you are"
@Coonetta why did the lil greek boy leave home? he didnt like the way he was being reared. Why did he come back? he couldnt leave his little brother's behind.
@blackspiraldancer6 How do Greeks find sheep in tall grass? Very satisfying..... How do Greeks practice safe sex? They mark an X on every sheep that kicks.
Think unto yourself not everyone or what anyone else thinks. It is all about what speaks to your soul your most inner thoughts and beliefs. That is what you must speak about and describe not petty arguments we must all progress and become a better species together,

folk metal band? i dont hear folk instruments in any of their song, they're more like progressive with norse themed lyrics ;D ...folk metal is like folkodia or eluveitie or...trollfest!
@gaarazo They compose their songs in a folk style, which is to say that they write using assonance, alliteration, and consonance that has been used in Germanic/Norsk song and poetry for centuries. Further to this point, they often do record a song that is actually an established traditional song, such as Sinklars Visa. If you listen to these songs, and the new songs that they have composed, the above mentioned poetic devices we become more evident. Also, in a few songs, trad instruments are used
People need to stop comparing this to metallica. Metallica blows, james sounds like a good niclkleback which isnt saying much... Apologies for complaining.
@FreyjasFighter The disliker probably is Loki, he's just trolling the other gods like when he refused to cry for Baldr, because that's all Loki is, a troll.
@Tjalfi999 Actually if you analyze the myths Loki is the one taking initiatives and leading the gods into conflicts that leave them stronger in the end. Btw great band, proud to be in the Danish-Northatlantic commonwealth with these guys.
@TrollandDie That's because Týr isn't a folk metal band. They never have been. They're progressive and there's nothing "folk" about them (regardless of what Wikipedia says). The problem is most human beings are idiots. The instant a band records an ethnic song or two, they're labelled as "folk" metal. And many of those idiots happen to be the fans who will also label Týr as a Nazi pride band, when that isn't true either. If only they took time to educate themselves on the bands they "follow"...
@RIPebz nothing folk about them? dude many of their songs are based on folk material from feröer isles and denmark, just wtf you're talking about??? it's true that they are playing progressive metal but they add their own folk stuff into it..
@spirit0614 As I told the other person who butt in, I'm not debating whether the lyrical content is folk. I'm saying the sound isn't. Maybe I should have re-worded it. Everyone familiar with Týr knows they've mixed many traditional songs. However, there are certain sounds and instruments needed to create folk music (as there are in jazz, country, etc). If a band is to record a METAL cover of Yankee Doodle, the SOUND isn't folk. Anyway, relax and enjoy your music. No need for a chain of arguments
@RIPebz wtf are you talkin about? They are best of folk metal (and also my favorite band). Their music videos, lyrics, and song titles make it pretty obvious that they are a folk metal band (you dont need to read wikipedia to know that)
And btw I NEVER saw them as a "Nazi pride band". Pagan-Pride band, yes; Nazi Pride, hell no.
@xANxxASSASSINx One, I wasn't addressing you. Two, they being your favorite band isn't relevant to what I was saying to the other person. Three, if they are your "favorite" band, then take the time to search up some of their interviews. Hell, take the time to see what they say on other sites. I am not debating whether their LYRICAL CONTENT is folk, I am simply saying their SOUND is NOT. And four, if you never saw them as a "Nazi pride" band, then this OBVIOUSLY doesn't pertain to you.
@RIPebz One, you posted a comment meaning that more than one person may, and is often expected to, reply. If you wanted a PRIVATE discussion then you should've sent a message to the person/people you were "addressing".
Two, actually it is relevant. It's a short way of saying "I have listened to many songs by TYR", which incinuates that I'm not some idiot who listens to one song and bases my opinion of the band on that one song.
@RIPebz Three, I don't care about their personal beliefs or political views or w/e, I care about the music. Their lyrics can suit MANY different situations, it all depends on how you perceive it.
And yes you are, that is exactly what you were debating.
Four, I have never seen them as a "Nazi-Pride band", but am a fan of TYR that sees them as a "Folk Metal band". Look at your comment. I fit 2 out of 3 of your arguments, this OBVIOUSLY does pertain to me.
@xANxxASSASSINx "More than one person may... reply." Aren't you skilled in stating the obvious! While I am aware this is no atmosphere for private discussions, I certainly wasn't hoping for rude interruptions. And no, Týr being your favorite band certainly isn't relevant to what I was saying. Fanaticism does not automatically equate to knowing and understanding what one is a fan of.
@xANxxASSASSINx And you should never make assumptions (you know the saying, I hope). "Some idiot who listens to one song" wouldn't be taking part in this sort of a debate. And a devout fan would actually watch interviews of their favorite band to get a better understanding of them (just saying). Nowhere did I mention their personal beliefs or political views. That seems like an attempt to avoid defending your argument by digressing from the topic.
@xANxxASSASSINx You are certainly welcome to perceive the lyrics however you may choose to, but most of their lyrics are meant to be taken as they are, not as they are "perceived." Unfortunately, some (not all) people "perceive" the lyrics as praising racialism. Maybe that part of the comment made you assume I was debating whether the lyrical content was folk or not. But no, I am NOT debating whether the lyrical content is folk. I said the band is progressive. "Progressive" refers to
@xANxxASSASSINx the SOUND of the music, NOT the lyrics. Refer to my reply to spirit0614.
"I fit 2 out of 3 of your arguments." Those were intended to be points, not arguments (but I know, you chose to "perceive" them that way). And I made four of them, not three. Anyway, we have digressed from the topic into a debate about the technicalities of what I said. I've no interest in taking part in a debate/argument with you, especially since you have proven to be incapable of maintaining a
@xANxxASSASSINx consistent debate without digressing. Nothing you have said has proven your "point" (if what you've said could even be considered an attempt to make a point). It is great that you enjoy Týr's music and that you do not regard them as racialists; maybe you have luckily never encountered a small bunch of idiots who do. Now go and enjoy your music and stop searching for e-arguing as a means of entertainment.
